After pondering for a long ti, Chen Bin couldn’t resist opening his eyes.
He snuck a glance at the stunningly beautiful Zhao Xini.
He wanted to reach out and touch her smooth, fair skin but was afraid she’d notice.
So he held his breath, turned over, climbed off the bed, and quietly fled the room.
He went to the bathroom and released the iron-hard beast within him.
Images of Zhao Xini’s alluring appearance swirled in his mind, making him feel a rush of heat all over.
Struggling internally for quite a while, in the end, he sat down on the living room sofa after using the bathroom.
It wasn’t until nearly ten o’clock that he saw Zhao Xini, holding her head, staggering out of the room.
Their eyes t, and both saw surprise in the other’s gaze.
Since Zhao Xini was often alone at ho, she deeply missed the presence of Chen Bin.
So whenever everyone else was out, she’d sneak into the side bedroom to sleep.
Last night, after the alcohol kicked in, she subconsciously walked into Chen Bin’s room after her bathroom trip.
Now, rembering it, embarrassnt filled Zhao Xini’s heart.
She stared at Chen Bin for a while, but ultimately said nothing.
She simply turned around and walked into the bathroom.
Chen Bin breathed a quiet sigh of relief.
After all, it was Zhao Xini who voluntarily ca over last night—none of it was his fault.
Perhaps out of awkwardness, after freshening up, Zhao Xini told Chen Bin she had to work overti at the station today.
Chen Bin had no other choice but to leave.
However, he clearly noticed that Zhao Xini’s attitude toward him had improved significantly compared to half a month ago.
It seed like everything was pointing in a positive direction.
Downstairs, Chen Bin called Cheng Zhuang.
"Old Cheng, et at the County Committee; I’ve got sothing to do soon."
"Alright!"
Cheng Zhuang, carefree as ever, was at ho drinking and watching TV.
Hearing that Chen Bin had sothing for him to do made him quite excited.
The two t at the County Committee and then took a taxi back to Bailing Town.
This ti, they didn’t go to Old Ma’s distillery.
Instead, they began asking locals about Old Ma’s relatives.
After learning his son’s address, they headed straight there.
Passing by a shop, they saw a bunch of people gathered outside playing cards and chatting, so Chen Bin led Cheng Zhuang inside.
At one card table, two n and a woman were playing poker.
The woman was the youngest among them.
She looked like she was in her early twenties, sharp-featured and attractive.
While playing, one of her feet rested on the chair, giving off a bold and carefree vibe.
"Damn it, my luck’s horrible today. These cards are absolute crap."
The girl tossed her cards onto the table as she spoke.
From the mont she sat down, she hadn’t won a single round as the dealer.
Her pretty face flushed bright red with frustration.
The two n at the table burst into laughter at her reaction.
"Clearly, you’re missing so male attention. Why don’t you co ho with , and I’ll help you relieve that heat?"
"Hah, with your puny body? No way you’d satisfy this feisty gal. How about the three of us team up instead?"
The girl shot to her feet in a flash, furious.
"Fuck this! If you two dare spout any more nonsense, I’ll grab a knife right now and chop those things off!"
Seeing her blow up, the two n imdiately stopped laughing, expressions full of awkwardness.
Ma Juan was famously hot-tempered in the village.
If she was pushed too far, she might actually do sothing like that.
"Alright, let’s keep playing. We were just joking around earlier—don’t take it seriously."
Seeing the n back down, Ma Juan snorted coldly before sitting back down.
But after finishing the hand, she frowned again.
"Damn it, how am I supposed to play with cards like these?"
Chen Bin noticed that Ma Juan’s cards weren’t bad—it was just her poker skills that were awful.
Unable to resist, he said, "You should call dealer this round. I guarantee a win."
Ma Juan turned to look at Chen Bin, realizing she didn’t know him. She imdiately snapped.
"Who the hell are you? You dare boss around?"
Chen Bin didn’t get angry and quickly explained.
"Trust . If you don’t win this round, I’ll cover your losses."
She sized him up carefully before reluctantly nodding.
Following Chen Bin’s instructions, she miraculously ended up winning.
For the rest of the ga, she insisted on having Chen Bin give her tips.
After a few rounds, she even managed to recover the dozen or so bucks she had previously lost.
However, the two n weren’t happy about it.
One of them, younger in appearance, glared at Chen Bin.
"Kid, what the hell are you doing here? If you’re not playing, scram! Stop running your mouth!"
Before Chen Bin could respond, Cheng Zhuang stepped forward imdiately.
"Can’t you speak properly? If you can’t, then shut the hell up!"
Normally, the card players here were all locals who knew each other.
Seeing this unfold, several others stood up and yelled at Cheng Zhuang.
"Kid, you’re acting pretty wild. Got the guts to step outside and face us like a man?"
Realizing things were heading south, Chen Bin quickly flashed a smile and began to apologize.
"Brothers, it’s our fault. I apologize to all of you."
But the other man wouldn’t let go and stepped forward, fist clenched, ready to confront Cheng Zhuang.
Just as they were about to get physical, the girl abruptly stood up and tossed her cards into the man’s face.
"Xie Laosan, these two are my friends. If you dare lay a hand on them, I won’t let this go!"
The man seed intimidated by the girl and froze in place, unsure of what to do.
The girl then pulled Chen Bin by the arm and stord out of the shop.
"Don’t worry. This is my turf—no one will dare ss with you here!"
Chen Bin grinned. "Thank you so much for that."
He used to think that the ideal wife should be soone gentle and virtuous like Zhao Xini.
But now, he realized fiery won could also be intriguing.
Outside the shop, Ma Juan patted Chen Bin on the shoulder.
"No big deal, they’re all just pals. By the way, what brings you here? I don’t think I’ve seen you two before."
Chen Bin imdiately replied, "We’re just passing through the village to deal with sothing."
"Say what you need bluntly. I may have been living in the city these past two years, but I still know all about this place."
Chen Bin checked his phone to see the ti and said,
"It’s already noon. How about I treat you to lunch, and we can talk over the al?"
Ma Juan frowned slightly, suspicion clouding her expression.
After sizing Chen Bin and Cheng Zhuang up, she replied bluntly.
"Sure, you can treat , but you two need to show your IDs first."
Chen Bin hadn’t expected this carefree-looking girl to have such a cautious streak.
He handed his ID over without hesitation.
Seeing this, Cheng Zhuang also passed his own ID to her.
Ma Juan took photos of the IDs with her phone before she finally relaxed.
"Alright, where do you want to take for lunch?"
Chen Bin chuckled, "Anywhere you want. It’s entirely up to you."
Nodding, Ma Juan led them to a fairly upscale restaurant.
Once the food was served, Chen Bin couldn’t help but ask,
"You’re okay dining with two n you don’t know so easily?"
Ma Juan replied casually, "What’s there to be scared of? Are you two gonna eat alive?"
That remark made Chen Bin even more intrigued, prompting him to introduce himself.
"I’m Chen Bin, and the guy next to is Cheng Zhuang. What’s your na?"
The girl popped a peanut into her mouth, chewing as she spoke.
"I’m Ma Juan!"
Hearing her surna, Chen Bin instinctively asked,
"Do you know Old Ma, the distillery owner?"
The girl froze for a mont. "That’s my grandfather. Why do you ask?"
