Seeing the situation spiraling out of control, Chen Bin shouted angrily.
"Cheng Zhuang, stop right now!"
Hearing this, Cheng Zhuang imdiately stopped in his tracks.
His clenched fist also slowly dropped down.
At this mont, a man around forty years old barged in from outside.
Holding a hoe tightly in his hand, he roared at Chen Bin, who was just getting up from the ground.
"Take your people and get the hell out of here, or don’t bla for being rude!"
Ma Juan hurriedly stepped in front of Chen Bin and shouted loudly.
"Little Uncle, what are you doing? He’s my friend!"
Ma Tiejun’s anger flared too, and he yelled at Ma Juan.
"Get out! And take your no-good friends with you!"
Clutching his nose, which was bleeding profusely, Chen Bin knew this was definitely not the ti to discuss opening a distillery.
He gently tugged on Ma Juan’s arm, signaling her to drop the matter.
Ma Juan cast a furious glance at her father and little uncle but didn’t dare to say anything more.
She could only stomp her foot and leave with Chen Bin and Cheng Zhuang.
The three of them stood by the roadside for quite a while before the bleeding from Chen Bin’s nose finally stopped.
Sighing, Ma Juan spoke awkwardly.
"I’m really sorry about earlier..."
Waving it off, Chen Bin managed a weak smile.
"It’s okay, it’s really not your fault."
At this mont, he realized that, fierce as Ma Juan seed, she was actually the most even-tempered person in the Ma family.
Cheng Zhuang couldn’t help but complain at this point.
"Your dad is such a bastard..."
Before he could finish, Chen Bin interrupted with a wave of his hand.
"Xiao Juan, we’re heading back to the county now. What are your plans?"
"I’ll go to the county too. Let treat you to a al, and then I’ll head back to the city tonight."
"Sounds good!"
Imdiately, the three of them took a cab to Yammy Restaurant in the county.
After ordering food, Ma Juan went off to the restroom.
Seizing the opportunity, Chen Bin complained to Cheng Zhuang.
"What the hell was that earlier? I told you not to act recklessly before we even got there!"
Cheng Zhuang pursed his lips, clearly believing he did nothing wrong.
"He already hit you! Was I supposed to just stand there and do nothing?"
"We were there to ask for their help! If you really got physical, the chances of opening the distillery would be completely ruined!"
Chen Bin felt extrely frustrated at this point.
He hadn’t expected opening a distillery to be this difficult—or to end up getting himself hurt in the process.
But the n from the Ma family were all a bunch of hotheads. What was he supposed to do?
Noticing Chen Bin’s sour mood, Cheng Zhuang felt equally annoyed.
He couldn’t help but mutter under his breath, "Fine, you’re the boss. You call the shots. But if soone hits you next ti and you don’t ask for help, don’t expect to lift a finger—even if you’re beaten to death!"
Chen Bin opened his mouth, intending to say sothing, but seeing Ma Juan returning from the restroom, he chose to remain silent.
The food was served, and perhaps out of guilt, Ma Juan barely touched her drink.
Throughout the al, she kept piling food onto Chen Bin’s plate.
After dinner, Ma Juan added Chen Bin on WeChat, saying it would be more convenient to stay in touch.
Once Ma Juan left, Cheng Zhuang imdiately grinned and shot a teasing look at Chen Bin.
"Brother Bin, I think she likes you."
Chen Bin, however, just waved it off, clearly uninterested.
As the two were about to hail a cab to leave, Chen Bin suddenly noticed a man and woman walking by on the other side of the street.
Wait—wasn’t that... Feng Lei?!
And the flashy woman next to him wasn’t Xu Ruoxuan.
Watching the pair walk toward a hotel, Chen Bin hastily whipped out his phone and snapped a few pictures of their intimate behavior.
Seeing Chen Bin’s odd behavior, Cheng Zhuang couldn’t help but ask, "Brother Bin, do you know them?"
Chen Bin didn’t answer and instead flagged down a cab, urging the driver to leave quickly.
After dropping off Cheng Zhuang, Chen Bin stayed in the cab and returned to the County Committee and County Governnt compound.
In no mood to delay, he headed straight into the dormitory building and knocked on Wang Jun’s door.
When he walked in, the place was thick with smoke.
The ashtray on the coffee table was overflowing with cigarette butts.
Chen Bin guessed it must be because of Zhao Xini’s pregnancy that Wang Jun had beco like this.
But it wasn’t sothing he dared to bring up.
Sitting beside Wang Jun, Chen Bin recounted the events of the afternoon.
Crushing a cigarette butt, Wang Jun exhaled deeply.
"It’s fine. You can’t rush things. If making liquor was that easy, it wouldn’t have fallen to us. But while you’re handling business, make sure to look after your safety."
Though Wang Jun said this, he was more anxious than anyone.
Since his serious illness last ti, he had been left with kidney issues.
Staying in the dorm was purely to avoid Zhao Xini.
The fact that she was having an affair didn’t surprise him at all.
What’s more, Wang Jun had no children, and he even considered letting Zhao Xini give birth to the child to preserve his family line.
But he couldn’t bring himself to say such a thing yet.
For now, his only option was to achieve so political results quickly to stabilize his position.
Only then could he gather enough leverage to convince Zhao Xini not to divorce him.
And also to show the other man that he wasn’t soone to be ssed with!
Seeing Wang Jun’s eager expression, Chen Bin took a deep breath.
"Godfather, don’t worry. I’ll make sure the distillery gets up and running!"
Wang Jun patted Chen Bin on the shoulder, his eyes filled with gratitude.
"Good. I really appreciate it!"
With his wife’s betrayal weighing heavily on him, Wang Jun now only had Chen Bin to rely on.
Feeling a pang of guilt, Chen Bin rely nodded without saying more.
After bidding farewell to Wang Jun, he originally wanted to find Xu Ruoxuan for a chat.
But with his nose still throbbing, he didn’t dare engage in anything too strenuous.
He was worried that getting too worked up might cause the bleeding to start up again.
Back in his dorm, after washing up, Chen Bin lay down on his bed.
Tossing and turning, he finally decided to leverage Ma Juan.
After all, the n in the Ma family were like powder kegs, ready to explode at the slightest spark.
By comparison, Ma Juan was the safer option.
The next morning, after getting up, Chen Bin sent Ma Juan a ssage.
"Can you send the address of your clothing store? I want to co visit."
She replied instantly, "It’s Monday. Don’t you have to work?"
"Didn’t I get hurt last night? The secretary of the County Committee gave a day off."
After a mont’s hesitation, Ma Juan sent him a location pin.
"Alright, then co keep company and have a drink. I’m bored out of my mind."
"OK!"
After replying, Chen Bin imdiately went downstairs, hailed a cab, and headed to the city.
On the way, he updated Wang Jun on his plans.
Wang Jun simply reminded him that the main priority was to secure the distillery, and everything else could wait.
With Wang Jun’s reassurance, Chen Bin felt more confident heading toward Ma Juan.
Upon arriving, he quickly located the clothing store from the pin she shared.
The location was average, but once inside, he noticed a decent amount of foot traffic.
Soon, Ma Juan ca over to greet him.
"Wow, why’d you co so early? I can’t leave yet."
"It’s fine. You do your thing. I’ll just hang around."
As they spoke, Chen Bin found a quiet corner to stand in.
In no ti, more and more custors crowded into the store.
At first, Chen Bin was just on guard for pickpockets. But eventually, he ended up helping sell clothes too.
Apart from grabbing a quick lunch in-store, he spent the entire day running around helping out.
He deeply regretted not visiting in the evening instead.
After the last batch of custors left, Ma Juan looked at Chen Bin with gratitude.
"Thank goodness you were here. I wouldn’t have managed without you."
Chen Bin let out an awkward laugh and asked, "Isn’t this store co-owned with a friend? Where’s your friend?"
As she locked up, Ma Juan explained, "We take turns running the store. Usually, it’s not this busy. I don’t know why today was such a madhouse."
Nodding, Chen Bin followed up with another question.
"Didn’t you say you’d treat to drinks? Where are we going?"
"Drinking out isn’t as fun. How about my place? I’ve got a place rented nearby."
"That... won’t it be inappropriate?"
Ma Juan waved the concern away.
"What’s inappropriate about it? Since you’re already here, let’s drink until you’re satisfied!"
Hearing such bold words, Chen Bin imdiately perked up.
In his mory, Ma Juan had an impressive tolerance for alcohol.
He couldn’t help but wonder what she’d be like when drunk...
