Weijun stepped out from behind Liwu, hands raised and eyes wide. "I don’t know what you are trying to insinuate but I had nothing to do with any theft of any system. I started reorganizing and disbanding IH as per the agreent I made in the alliance. Right now, the remaining funds collected by the organization are being funneled back to donors carefully.
The forr headquarters of IH are being turned into the grounds for a high school and a system specialized university affiliated hospital. It will be the first of its kind in the world."
"Eh," Alix tilted her head from side to side. "The USA is also trying to do the sa thing and they are three months ahead of you."
Weijun’s eyes narrowed. "It looks like we will have to step up our speed and at least claim top position. I am determined to have this achievent in my city while I am still the mayor."
Liwu cleared her throat. "We should stay on point. It is already beyond our shift. This is a case for the agency, not precinct, so we are going to hand over everything we have." She paused, rembering that they didn’t have anything other than the brief statent Manman had given Xuanji. "It is not much, just one paper."
Chief Abby pushed himself up. "In that case, everyone that is not working the night shift should go ho and watch their backs, not end up having their systems stolen."
The detectives started shuffling out of the room. Liwu led her mother out with quiet determination. They didn’t stop until they were in Liwu’s office and the door was closed. But before she could ask the question she wanted, a flash of pinkish light appeared in the room, and then her mother vanished.
Liwu laughed. "I guess that is all the explanation I will be getting."
Her watch vibrated. There was a ssage from her mother.
[Mother Dragon: Don’t ask, just give your mother-in-law my regards.]
That was all it said, and it disappeared imdiately after she read it. Liwu understood enough of what it ant. Yes, her mother was behind it, and so was her mother-in-law.
She sunk into her chair, laughing softly. She couldn’t be too loud or obvious because Weifeng and Manman would know. So, she grabbed her bag, trench coat and left the officer. On her way out, she bumped into Weijun.
"I was about to send out a search party." he joked.
She looked at his erald green suit and chuckled. "Well, you are dressed as a forest, so step one of your search has been accomplished."
He frowned, taking her bag and coat from her. His other hand went around her waist, holding her close tightly as they walked out. "I don’t think I understand that joke."
She nodded. "I don’t think I understand it either."
He laughed. "But it was your joke! How can you fail to understand your own joke."
She shrugged slowly, "It happens. I have no idea what possessed you to choose a green suit. Hasn’t anybody made a joke about cheating on you or sothing?"
They stopped and he waited to answer because a group of detectives heading in for the night shift waved or shouted out greetings.
"Nobody should touch my cursed coin case." Liwu shouted to them.
Detective Qin Yiyi, who was the team leader that rivaled Liwu in capability rolled her eyes. She replied loudly, "I will solve it before you do Bad luck Tai. Just you wait and see."
"You wish." Liwu answered.
Weijun steered Liwu towards his car. "Who is that?"
Liwu gritted her teeth for a second and then she smiled. "Qin Yiyi, the living and only host of a surveillance shadow system. It can manipulate people’s shadows to recreate everything at a cri scene. But only as long as those people were there at the scene. Of course, this doesn’t serve as evidence. It just helps her solve cris faster, the sa way my bad luck does."
Weijun turned his head, glancing back at the woman who vanished through the doors of the precinct.
Liwu added, "She also happens to be pretty and possesses a body that has been described as hotter than fire by Xuanji. She was voted as the goddess of the police university all the years we were there." She noticed that Weijun had not turned around so she cleared her throat. "Should I make an introduction?"
He turned his head to her quickly, shaking it almost frantically. "No...no...no. That’s not why I was looking at her. I just think that I have seen her sowhere and it was not this precinct. But I can’t put my finger on it."
"She used to be in IH for..." Liwu started but Weijun gasped.
He cut her off. "No, that is not what it is. She used to be in OHM."
From the passenger side of the car, Mo Xia gasped as well. "Right, I rember her as well. She looked different, her hair was brown and she had a scar on her neck. But, that hip to waist ratio is unforgettable."
Liwu pinched Weijun’s belly and glared at Mo Xia. "Try and keep that information to yourselves. It is likely that she was undercover."
Weijun helped her into the car and he entered as well, closing the door. "I am guessing that she was also undercover in IH. But, what did she look like because Mo Xia and I would rember her if she looked anything like she does now."
Liwu pinched him again.
As he winced, she declared boldly, "I don’t care how beautiful she is or how much hotter than fire she is. You know my rules when it cos to infidelity. Cheat once and I bounce. So look all you want, but if you dare to touch, I will beco your worst enemy in the world. Let tell you Weijun, I...."
Suddenly, his warm lips locked on hers, shutting her up effectively.
