Now reading: Chapter 164: The Rate from The Ten Thousand Deaths : 1000x Exp System, a Fantasy novel by AryanDhull4622.

The rate doubled again on Thursday.

Not the three-day doubling Mira had described from the first week.

Faster.

Two days.

Three hundred and twelve active dungeons when Oren ran the morning cost reading.

The Cost Sense showing the aggregate as sothing different from the wound’s ambient weight — specific, targeted, each dungeon a specific point of compressed hostile architecture pressing against the territories around it.

Three hundred and twelve specific points.

Being held by the Collectors.

Forty-seven people maintaining suspension on three hundred and twelve dungeons.

Mira at the center of the holding network, the Compressed Duration Essence sustaining what should have been impossible, the forty-six Collectors extending her holding capacity through their own material-enhanced functions.

Not comfortable.

Sustainable for now.

For how long — the calculation was not comfortable.

He cleared seven dungeons on Thursday.

Reintegration on four — the clean ones where the Collectors had not previously harvested exterior material.

Dissolution on three — dungeons in densely populated areas where the Spirit cost of the reintegration was prohibitive with current reserves and the communities needed imdiate clearance.

[THURSDAY — DUNGEONS CLEARED/HEALED: 7][LEVEL UP — KAEL — LEVEL 67][INTEGRATED MATERIAL PRODUCED: 4 UNITS — DISTRIBUTED TO COLLECTORS]

Level 67.

The progression running.

Not fast enough.

Seven dungeons in a day when the rate was generating dozens.

He needed more.

Not just him.

The correction workers learning the reintegration approach were the answer but the training took ti and the riverbed layer access took ti and ti was the resource the doubling rate was consuming.

He sent a ssage to Esi after Thursday’s work.

How many correction workers have the riverbed layer access developed enough to attempt the reintegration.

Esi’s response: Three confird. Four more approaching the threshold. Three of the confird ran their first reintegration attempts today. A pause. Two successful. One partial — the fragnt required his presence longer than his Spirit reserves could sustain. The dissolution fallback. A pause. At current training rate — eight capable practitioners by next week. Fifteen by the week after.

Eight next week.

Fifteen the week after.

The rate climbing faster.

He thought about the gap.

About Rael’s problem.

About the Integrated material building the Collectors’ hold capacity as the reintegration ran.

About the gap closing as the healing scaled.

About what he needed to close the gap faster.

He went to find Mira.

She was in the building the Collectors had established as their operational center — a warehouse in the eastern district that Mira had apparently secured six days before the dungeons appeared in Valdenmoor, the preparation confirming what Dael had already identified.

She had known the dungeons were coming.

He had not asked her yet how.

He asked now.

She looked at him across the warehouse space where forty-seven people were monitoring the holding network, the between-frequency alive with the specific activity of sustained holder functions across three hundred and twelve points.

"The Architect of the Sealed Space," she said. "Inside the sealed space during the withdrawal — the door from the other side." She paused. "The fragnts weren’t the only thing developing in the sealed space." She paused. "The sealed space itself was developing." She paused. "The between-space architecture of the sealed container developing in the absence the way everything else developed in the absence." She paused. "I could feel the door’s architecture from the inside." She paused. "The door becoming perable when Wren established the thread — I felt it from the inside before the outside recognized it." She paused. "The door opening — I felt it the mont it happened." She paused. "The sealed space’s architecture releasing — the fragnts dispersing into the territories as the compression ended." She paused. "I felt where they would land before they landed." She paused. "The Architect of the Sealed Space is — exactly what it says." She paused. "I know the architecture of the sealed space." She paused. "I know where every fragnt was. Where every fragnt went." She paused. "I know where every fragnt is."

He looked at her.

At every fragnt.

"You know the location of every fragnt dungeon," he said. "Before they appear."

"Before and after," she said. "The Architect’s function is complete spatial awareness of the sealed space’s contents." She paused. "Now that the sealed space is open — the architecture has dispersed. The fragnts are in the territories." She paused. "I can feel all of them." She paused. "The active dungeons. The fragnts still dormant — not yet generating dungeons but present in the territories’ between-space." She paused. "The fragnts that haven’t activated yet."

He looked at her.

"How many fragnts haven’t activated yet," he said.

Mira was quiet for a mont.

"Three thousand four hundred and seventeen," she said.

He sat down.

Three thousand four hundred and seventeen.

Not three hundred.

Three thousand four hundred and seventeen.

"The current active dungeons are the early activations," he said. "The fragnts activating as the compressed space architecture continues to decompress." He paused. "The rate is going to keep climbing."

"Yes," Mira said. "The decompression will run for approximately six months." She paused. "The rate will peak in month three." She paused. "Maximum simultaneous active dungeons — approximately four thousand." She paused. "Then the decompression completes and the remaining dormant fragnts either activate or integrate naturally as the full presence continues to arrive."

Four thousand simultaneous dungeons.

At peak.

Three months from now.

He thought about seven corrections workers, fifteen by next week, growing through training.

About the Collectors’ hold capacity building through the Integrated material.

About the gap.

About four thousand.

"Your model," he said to Mira. "The one you showed at the first dungeon. The return catalyst." He paused. "The Integrated material — you said it was lower per unit than the Compressed Duration Essence." He paused. "Twenty-three percent versus what the Duration Essence provides."

"Approximately sixty percent per unit for the Duration Essence," she said.

"The Integrated material is lower per unit but unlimited in production," he said. "The Duration Essence is higher per unit but requires harvest." He paused. "At four thousand dungeons — if the reintegration runs at sufficient scale — the Integrated material production rate exceeds the Duration Essence’s enhancent capacity." He paused. "The hold capacity from the Integrated material approach eventually exceeds the hold capacity from the harvest approach." He paused. "But not for three months." He paused. "Not at peak."

"No," Mira said. "Not at peak." She looked at him. "The Duration Essence we’ve already harvested — the reserve." She paused. "At peak load — we’ll need it."

He looked at the container of exterior material she had set on the ground that morning.

At the fragnts’ pieces that the Collectors had set aside rather than applied.

At the reserve.

At the question of what happened to those pieces at the end.

"If we use the reserve at peak," he said. "The fragnts those pieces ca from — the reintegration produces a partial contribution." He paused. "We’ve been over this."

"Yes," she said. "The tradeoff." She paused. "At peak load — use the reserve to hold what we can’t hold otherwise." She paused. "Partial contributions from so fragnts." She paused. "Versus communities actively hard by uncontrolled dungeons." She paused. "The tradeoff is still real at peak."

He thought about the work.

About what the work had always been.

About the specific problems that required specific solutions rather than general principles.

He thought about the six months of decompression.

About the full presence continuing to arrive.

About the between-space returning to the territories.

About what happened to the fragnts that were still dormant when the full presence was sufficiently present in their territories.

"The dormant fragnts," he said. "The ones that haven’t activated yet. Three thousand dormant." He paused. "If the full presence arrives in a territory where a dormant fragnt is located before the fragnt activates — what happens."

Mira looked at him.

"I don’t know," she said. "The architecture didn’t have that configuration in the sealed space."

"Nara," he said.

He sent the question through the threading network.

Nara’s response ca in twenty minutes.

The pre-withdrawal records. The fragnts in their integrated state — they didn’t activate as hostile architecture because the full presence was present. The integration was ongoing. The full presence kept the fragnts integrated. A pause. A dormant fragnt in a territory where the full presence has arrived sufficiently — the fragnt would integrate naturally. No dungeon. No hostile architecture. No reintegration required. A pause. The fragnt just cos ho.

The fragnt just cos ho.

He looked at Mira.

"The full presence reaching a territory with a dormant fragnt before the fragnt activates — the fragnt integrates naturally," he said. "No dungeon. No holding required. No reintegration work." He paused. "The full presence present is sufficient." He paused. "The three thousand dormant fragnts — if the full presence continues to arrive in the territories at the current rate — how many of them activate before the full presence reaches them versus how many integrate naturally."

Mira’s function as the Architect of the Sealed Space ran.

She felt the sealed space’s architecture dispersed across the territories.

The fragnts dormant.

The full presence arriving.

The race between the decompression rate and the full presence’s arrival rate.

"Approximately two thousand of the three thousand dormant fragnts are in territories where the full presence is arriving," she said slowly. "If the arrival continues at current pace — they integrate naturally before they activate." She paused. "The remaining one thousand are in territories where the full presence is still thin." She paused. "Those one thousand will activate." She paused. "Plus the three hundred and twelve already active." She paused. "Total active peak — approximately thirteen hundred and twelve." She paused. "Not four thousand." She paused. "If the full presence keeps arriving."

Thirteen hundred and twelve.

Not four thousand.

If the full presence kept arriving.

If the correction work continued.

If the honest participation sustained the virtuous cycle.

If the coal kept burning.

He looked at the Collectors.

At the holding network maintaining three hundred and twelve points.

At the Integrated material building their capacity.

At the training correction workers approaching riverbed access.

At thirteen hundred and twelve as the real peak rather than four thousand.

At the gap.

At the gap being crossable.

"The coalition," he said to Mira. "The Collectors and the correction network working together. The holding and the healing running simultaneously." He paused. "We can reach thirteen hundred at peak." He paused. "Not easily." He paused. "But reachable."

Mira looked at her forty-six.

At the work ahead.

At the fragnts she had been sealed with.

At the path that brought them ho complete.

"When do we start," she said.

"We already started," he said.

He stood.

He had four more dungeons to reach before dark.

[TOTAL FRAGNTS: 3,729][ACTIVE DUNGEONS: 312 — HELD BY COLLECTORS][DORMANT: 3,417 — 2,000 ESTIMATED NATURAL INTEGRATION][REAL PEAK: ~1,312][LEVEL: 67][NOTE: THE GAP IS CROSSABLE.][NOTE: THE FULL PRESENCE ARRIVING IS THE SECOND FRONT.][NOTE: THE COAL BURNING IN THE TERRITORIES IS DOING WORK RIGHT NOW.][NOTE: EVERY HONEST PARTICIPATION BRINGS THE FULL PRESENCE CLOSER.][NOTE: EVERY NATURAL INTEGRATION IS ONE LESS DUNGEON TO CLEAR.][NOTE: THE ORDINARY WORK AND THE DUNGEON WORK RUNNING SIMULTANEOUSLY.][NOTE: BOTH THE WORK.][NOTE: FOUR MORE DUNGEONS BEFORE DARK.][THE WORK CONTINUES.]

He went to work.

Author’s Note: Mira reveals it: 3,417 dormant fragnts still to activate. Real peak with natural integrations factored in: 1,312 — not 4,000. The full presence arriving naturally integrates dormant fragnts before they turn hostile. The ordinary coal-keeping work is the second front against the dungeon rate. The coalition: Collectors holding, correction workers healing, the full presence arriving. The gap is crossable. Four more dungeons before dark. Drop a Power Stone! 🔥
