The night in the garden was as cool as water.
Zuri Ginger stood at a distance, finishing her phone call, her face unabashedly joyful, her steps light as she walked into the living room.
Aiden Jiang and Charlotte Chester had all retired to their bedrooms.
Alia Miller was cleaning.
"Alia." Zuri quickly walked over and called out with a smile.
"Miss." Alia put the cloth aside and responded respectfully.
"Twenty thousand." Zuri directly took out a bank card and pressed it into her hand, whispering, "The password is one through six, consider it a thank you for all your hard work recently."
"Thank you, Miss." Alia lowered her head and put the card in her pocket.
"But there's one more thing I need you to do for ." Zuri glanced around, bent down, and whispered in her ear.
"This?" Alia looked at her in shock, "I can't do that."
"Why can't you?" Zuri frowned slightly, "It's very simple for you, you just need to testify when the ti cos, and I won't shortchange you."
"But this?" Alia said in a small voice, "Miss Mia will be rejected by the mister and madam."
Thinking of everything she'd seen recently, Alia felt that Mia Ginger, as the second Miss, was too aggrieved, having already helped Zuri. How could she betray her conscience to fra her?
"How could that be?" Zuri laughed indifferently, "After all, she's mom and dad's biological daughter, after they lose their temper and scold her, it'll be over, it's not that serious."
"If it's not that serious, why do this..."
"What?"
"Nothing," Alia looked up at her, troubled, "Miss, if there's anything I can help with, I won't refuse, but this can't be done, what if sothing goes wrong? You know the madam's temper, who knows how angry she'll get then."
Zuri looked at her and snorted coldly.
Isn't she thinking about making Charlotte Chester angry?
Otherwise, why would she be so polite in asking a maid for help!
"Why don't you find soone else, I really..." Alia pursed her lips, speaking so softly it was almost inaudible.
"Find soone else?" Zuri laughed as she walked a couple of steps, lowered her voice, "You're the one cleaning all the bedrooms, how can I find soone else? If I do, you'll be the first one suspected, you have to testify, that way you can clear yourself and get the money, why not do it?"
"But I..."
"Oh, what's the problem," Zuri shook her arm playfully, "I'll give you another ten thousand once it's over, how about that? You just need to say a couple of words."
"Then," under Zuri's gaze, Alia slowly lowered her head, "Alright, just this once, I really can't help next ti."
"Just this once, good girl." Zuri patted her hair, whispered so more, and only after receiving her nod, she turned and went upstairs with a smile.
——
Mia Ginger had stayed at ho for four days.
Charlotte Chester's attitude was much warr than before, though there were intentional elents, her guard gradually lowered.
The short story was completed, and on Friday morning, received the editor's approval.
Mia Ginger was in a good mood.
As the afternoon approached, she received a call from Koa Jackson.
He said he would drive over to pick her up.
Mia packed her things, even humd a pop song in her room.
"Second Miss."
Alia stood at the doorway and called out, attracting her attention.
"Is sothing up?"
"Miss Zuri wants to see you."
"Her?" Mia raised an eyebrow in surprise, "Zuri Ginger?"
