Mia Ginger stood still for two seconds, then suddenly took two quick steps and turned on the light with a "click".

Blood lay at her feet.

The bright red blood stains had dyed the edge of the bed, pooling into a large patch beside it, like a pond with a small crack, flowing down the light beige tiles all the way to her feet.

Camilia Davis lay flat on the bed, and a fruit knife was thrown on the thin bed sheet.

The stark white tip of the knife was sared with blood.

Mia Ginger stood wide-eyed and finally her gaze fell on Camilia Davis’s wrist. She called out weakly, like speaking in a dream, "Mom," and collapsed to her knees with a thud.

——

The moon was high in the sky.

The light outside the operating room went out with a "click".

The anxious family mbers waiting outside the door quickly turned around and gathered around as Koa Jackson erged surrounded by a few attendants.

"How’s my dad?"

"Doctor, how’s my husband?"

"How’s the patient now?"

After waiting for several hours, the group of people started asking questions all at once.

"Record every 20 minutes and observe for 12 hours first," Koa Jackson lowered his eyes to glance at the head nurse beside him and instructed, "Call if there’s an ergency."

"Tonight you..."

"I have so things to take care of." As Koa’s voice fell, he reached for the first button of his white coat and walked away with long strides.

"Hey!"

"Don’t worry, don’t worry, the surgery was very successful."

The remaining nurse quickly yawned and reassured the family mbers, before looking up again to see Koa Jackson had already disappeared from sight.

In the afternoon, the old man suddenly fainted, and the Jackson Family was in chaos.

Then there was an ergency surgery at the hospital, and because the patient’s family had so connections with the dean, they specifically requested him to perform the surgery. He didn’t even have ti for a sip of water.

With Mia Ginger’s situation on his mind, Koa Jackson dialed while leaving the outpatient building.

"The number you have dialed is turned off."

The cold chanical female voice was still coming from the phone. He listened with a frown and directly put the phone back in his pocket, heading towards the parking lot.

Not far away——

An ambulance arrived with a wail.

The blinding headlights made him slightly uncomfortable, so he sidestepped a few steps away.

The car door opened with a "woosh", sounding especially alarming in the silent night. Even though he was accustod to life and death, he couldn’t help but feel so different emotions.

The dical staff hurriedly pushed the stretcher out.

"There’s no breath... anymore," a woman’s voice, filled with regret, vaguely ca from inside the vehicle.

Koa Jackson paused in slight surprise.

He lowered his head expressionlessly and turned to continue walking.

"Mom, no..."

A pleading, faint voice suddenly reached him. Koa Jackson stopped abruptly after taking two steps and turned back, pursing his thin lips.

Was that... Mia Ginger?

This thought flashed through his mind, and he couldn’t help clenching one hand that hung by his side.

He walked towards the back of the car.

The on-duty doctor in the ergency departnt recognized him, stepped back, and called out, "Professor Jackson?"

Koa Jackson didn’t look at him, his gaze went directly into the car, eting Mia Ginger’s vacant stare, his heart contracted slightly.

He had seen a lot of Mia Ginger—grieving, crying, angry, sad... he’d seen many sides of her.

But this was the first ti——

he saw her with empty eyes, her expression dull.

She seed to be completely drained of energy, sitting in the car, looking as if she might crumble at any mont.

She was still wearing the thin blouse from when they t in the afternoon, but sohow it was now stained with a lot of blood, covering her arms and face, a shocking sight.

"Mia Ginger?"

Koa Jackson tentatively called out, walking to the car and reaching a hand towards her.
