"Why did you beco enemies with him?" Li Ruotong asked softly after Wu Haomin left.
Luo Chao glanced at her, "You know him?"
"I just arrived in Jiangning City and had a al with directors of major groups. His father brought him along," Li Ruotong whispered, "His father is the biggest director in the Hongxing Group next to the chairman."
"I know, so what?" Luo Chao shrugged, looking indifferent.
Li Ruotong suddenly blushed, her lips moved a few tis, seemingly embarrassed to speak, and after a while, she said, "You really can make soone do that with their mouth?"
"I was just scaring him," Luo Chao laughed as he saw her flushed cheeks.
"Then why was he so scared?"
"He's just an idiot!"
Li Ruotong glared at him, clearly thinking the other person was sensible, deciding not to say any more.
"Miss, it's ti to go," said two black-clad n who walked in from outside, each wearing a pair of dark sunglasses, looking quite cool. They were clearly Li Ruotong's bodyguards. After the previous bank robbery incident, Li Ruotong had beco more cautious.
Li Ruotong nodded, "Luo Chao, let's go."
Luo Chao followed her out of the hotel doors and down the steps. As they reached a Buick van, Li Ruotong said, "Luo Chao, let give you a ride back."
"No need, I have a car," Luo Chao waved his hand, sensing the vigilance of the two bodyguards. Yet at that mont, Luo Chao's eyes flashed coldly. Like a bolt of lightning, he suddenly wrapped his arm around Li Ruotong's waist. The bodyguards were stunned, then suddenly erupted with thunderous shouts, "What are you doing!"
Li Ruotong felt both ashad and shocked, wondering what he intended to do.
"Run!" Luo Chao's pupils widened. Before he could finish speaking, a loud explosion bood from the Buick van, with flas shooting skyward, engulfing Luo Chao, Li Ruotong, and the two bodyguards. The blast wave threw nearby people and cars into the air.
Everyone was stunned. Jiangning City had been peaceful for many years, and no one expected a car explosion to happen today. It was clearly a man-made car bomb incident.
Sounds of crying and shouting lingered at the entrance of the Dayhao Hotel. People quickly called 110 and 120, while many citizens gathered around the blast scene, filled with curiosity and fear. Whoever did this was ruthless enough to put a bomb in a car, and the poor car owner must have offended such a deranged person.
While countless people sighed over Li Ruotong's apparent demise, in a nearby alley, a man and a woman were gasping for breath, their eyes filled with lingering fear.
"Luo Chao, how did you know there was a bomb in the car?" The speaker was none other than Li Ruotong, miraculously 'escaping the jaws of death'. Her heart felt like it was about to burst from her chest. In that mont of the explosion, Luo Chao had wrapped his arms around her waist, and they fled as if a strong wind had cut across her face before appearing here.
Luo Chao, still catching his breath, realized just how perilous the mont had been. Fortunately, he sensed a trace of danger, which prompted him to grab Li Ruotong and run faster than a rabbit; otherwise, death would have been certain.
"I felt it," Luo Chao said, taking a deep breath.
Felt it? Could soone actually sense a bomb? Such a notion seed almost mythical. Li Ruotong found Luo Chao increasingly mysterious and a bit frightening. The extre speed from earlier was terrifying, yet her heart was filled with gratitude: "Luo Chao, thank you. If it weren't for you, I would have already died back there."
Luo Chao shook his head, "Sadly, I could only save you. Your two bodyguards probably couldn't have left any remains to find after the blast."
Li Ruotong's beautiful eyes shed two tears. They died because of her, and this explosion was undoubtedly targeted at her. She choked up, "The least I can do now is provide substantial compensation to their families."
As bodyguards, they must be ready to sacrifice for their employer at any ti. If they could hear Li Ruotong's words, they would die without regrets.
Luo Chao asked, "Do you know who you've offended?"
Li Ruotong shook her head, "I'm neither in the political nor business circles, just singing my songs. Who could I have offended?"
"Could it be so minor celebrity who's jealous of you being too famous?" Luo Chao speculated.
"It shouldn't be. I've never suppressed anyone," Li Ruotong replied, but then she suddenly rembered sothing, her pretty face turning pale, "It must be him!"
Luo Chao asked curiously, "Who?"
Li Ruotong murmured, "A stranger sent an email, asking to sleep with him. I called him a psycho, and then he said he'd make die horribly."
"Do you know who he is?"
"I don't know, it was an anonymous email."
"Then let the police investigate it."
By now, police cars and ambulances had arrived, and Zhang Yufei was once again on the scene, riding a traffic police motorcycle with exaggerated curves, dressed in a police uniform—the allure of which was undeniably captivating. Luo Chao didn't want to et her, so he said, "Ruotong, you better go to the police and cooperate with their investigation. Now that the police are here, you should be safe."
"What about you?"
"I can't show my face," Luo Chao thought for a mont, "You help cover for ."
"Alright," Li Ruotong walked out. As she appeared in public, a chorus of screams erupted, "Ghost!"
In the alley, Luo Chao quickly disappeared, while from a corner of the street, a pair of malicious eyes locked onto Li Ruotong, then shifted their gaze to Zhang Yufei's nearly bursting chest, revealing a burning lust.
At this point, Luo Chao was lying on his bed, recalling the scene at the Dayhao Hotel earlier, unable to help but feel a lingering fear. Thankfully, his intuition was beyond ordinary; otherwise, he too would have perished there.
"Ring ring ring" Just then, Luo Chao's phone rang. He picked it up and saw it was a call from Li Ruotong. It was almost midnight; what could she want calling this late?
Just as Luo Chao was about to answer, Li Ruotong's call rang twice and then disconnected. He quickly called back, only to find that Li Ruotong's phone was turned off, an instant surge of unease enveloping him.
Luo Chao opened a special tracking software, imdiately displaying Li Ruotong's location—an abandoned factory in the suburbs of Jiangning City. This confird Luo Chao's suspicion: Li Ruotong had been kidnapped!
Luo Chao jumped out of bed, and without waiting for Aunt Zhou to ask where he was going, he sped off in his car.
In about 40 minutes, Luo Chao arrived at the gate of the abandoned factory. He cautiously approached the inside.
