Lanya's heart skipped a beat twice. They felt that this matter was becoming increasingly complicated; perhaps there really were wild n in the woods, or maybe other poachers!
Those six people were either eaten by the Gray Wolves or died at the hands of wild n or poachers with guns!
Luo Chao had an intuition—the mystery was about to be revealed, the drama was about to begin.
"It's almost dark, let's camp here," Ye Bing glanced at the sky. Wandering all day, they were really too exhausted to continue.
Lanya nodded: "Hmm, this is Gray Wolf territory. No other beasts dare to co here. Luo Chao drove them away, so they really wouldn't dare co back."
All things considered, this place is definitely good for camping, so everyone agreed with Ye Bing's suggestion, and they busily set up their tents, while Zhan Fei and Ruan Qing found plenty of dry branches around to light a campfire in the center of the five tents.
The flas leaped high into the sky. Ye Bing and Zhan Fei took out quite a few skewers of lamb, pork, and crunchy bones, leisurely grilling them over the campfire.
The aroma of grilled at wafted all around, and as everyone slled the skewers, their stomachs started to grumble. Lunch had been simple and unsatisfying; the deliciousness of the lamb skewers was making their mouths water.
Just as they were enjoying their feast, suddenly, a rustling sound ca from not far away, sounding particularly piercing in the still forest. Everyone's expressions turned a little tense, wondering what was coming?
After a while, a Gray Wolf suddenly erged from the grass, and it was none other than the Wolf King of the pack—a female Gray Wolf. Its huge body was illuminated by the moonlight, looking especially terrifying, as it let out a howl.
The Wolf King coming alone was already quite odd. It growled softly, which was hard to understand, and while they were puzzled, a small figure suddenly erged behind the Wolf King—it was a small Gray Wolf. It nestled beside its mother, unwilling to co forward, with deep and spirited eyes like the Wolf King, destined to inherit the throne.
The little Wolf King was quite shy, rubbing its small head against its mother's body repeatedly, while the Wolf King nudged its rump, pushing it forward.
"What is that Wolf King doing?" Lanya asked curiously.
Luo Chao didn't say anything, but vaguely felt what the Gray Wolf King wanted. At this mont, the little wolf, reluctantly taking small steps, walked over to Luo Chao. Under everyone's watchful eyes, it ca to Luo Chao, rubbing its little head against his pant leg. Its affectionate gestures made Lanya and the others adore it so much—a cute little wolf!
"Awroooo!" the Wolf King roared, glancing at Luo Chao a few tis, then turned away with deep reluctance, jumping into the bushes, leaving the little wolf watching its mother depart, tears welling up in its eyes, even more reluctant.
"I got it!" Lanya exclaid in delight. "Luo Chao, it must be because you spared the entire wolf pack that the Wolf King is giving you this little Prince of the Wolf Race as a gift."
"What Wolf Race Prince," Luo Chao rolled his eyes, thinking it was a bit exaggerated, then picked up the little wolf, stroking its furry coat—the little wolf was only as big as an adult cat, looking adorably innocent, which Luo Chao liked very much.
Luo Chao glanced towards the already vanished Wolf King, speaking in his heart, Wolf King, oh Wolf King, I will certainly take good care of it, raising it to be the strongest new generation Wolf King!
Once the Gray Wolf King had completely disappeared, Lanya looked at the little wolf's cute appearance, excitedly saying, "Luo Chao, let hold it!" But the little wolf bared its fangs and claws warning her not to co close, only willing to stay in Luo Chao's arms.
Lanya was frightened, retracting her hand pitifully, saying, "Luo Chao, tell it to let hold it."
Luo Chao, seeing her dejected look, laughed, stroked the little wolf's head and said, "From now on, we'll call you Little Wolf. Let this beautiful lady hold you; she has no hostility towards you or ."
A bizarre scene occurred as the little wolf nodded its small head—they were astonished. The Gray Wolf was indeed too smart—it could understand them.
Seeing the little wolf agree, Luo Chao placed it in Lanya's arms, which made Lanya overjoyed, incessantly touching the little wolf here and there, while the little wolf was burrowing into her chest, looking very content. Ye Bing and Zhan Fei were quite envious; being a wolf seed quite blissful.
Soon enough, night fell, and the group withdrew into their tents. Lanya took the little wolf into her tent, wanting it to sleep with her, but the little wolf didn't appreciate such blessings, stubbornly ran out, and burrowed into Luo Chao's tent, making Lanya quite upset.
Without a word, overnight, the next morning when the sky turned gray, everyone prepared to set off again. Luo Chao's displayed prowess filled Lanya and the others with confidence; the footprints of the six people had altered, heading up the mountain.
So everyone set off, climbing a high mountain. The rugged path took two hours, exhausting them greatly. Ruan Qing panting said, "I can't do it anymore; let's have a rest first."
Zhan Fei nodded: "Hmm, why did those six people suddenly go up the mountain?" They were tracking those six people's footprints, certainly not mistaken, but curiously thinking if they vanished in the mountain?
This high mountain has an altitude of over 200 ters. In the entire mountain range, it wasn't exactly a high mountain, and they had climbed to one-third of the height, gazing down the mountain. At this point, Ye Bing's eyes widened roundly, seemingly seeing sothing shocking: "Look over there!"
Luo Chao looked over, suddenly realizing at the western mountain base there's a fertile flatland, and on it is a row of houses made of branches, seeming to be inhabited!
About a dozen wooden houses, with presumably many people residing there, but modern people wouldn't possibly co to such a remote place to live; a crowd of them ca to build a new ho, even more unlikely—could they be wild n?
At this mont, everyone's breathing slightly accelerated, wondering if, according to rumors, there really are wild n. They felt both nervous and excited, as if discovering a new continent.
"Not right!" Luo Chao remarked sharply.
Lanya inquired, "What's not right?"
Luo Chao replied, "Do you see that fenced field not far from the houses?"
