"You bastard, how dare you ntion that again!" Hearing Luo Chao bring it up, Lanya was both embarrassed and angry. She clawed at him wildly, but Luo Chao dodged aside easily, smiling as he said, "Now you're showing so leadership skills. Alright, don't bla yourself. Don't you believe in my abilities? I'll deal with them and get you all out of here."
Lanya resud her beautiful appearance as the campus belle with the temper of a spoiled miss. Her heart fluttered lightly twice; in truth, Luo Chao was really not bad—courageous, fearless, responsible, and unfazed by danger. He had such charisma, the true mark of a real man.
"Go ahead and brag. Do you think you're Superman?" Ye Bing was still angry at heart. Over 40 bandits, ard with heavy weapons, and Luo Chao, thinking he could take them down empty-handed, was truly delusional.
Ruan Qing, Lanya's best friend, had grown sowhat distant from her. She hung her head low, not uttering a word, her tears nearly dried up. She truly regretted it, especially regretted coming on this archaeological expedition and dragging Lanya along, causing harm to both of them.
Luo Chao frowned: "If you don't believe , you're free to leave. You don't have to hide here."
"Damn! Who do you think you are," Ye Bing cursed. Undoubtedly, at this life-and-death mont, they turned on each other. Luo Chao's eyes turned cold, and with a loud bang, he appeared right in front of Ye Bing in an instant, swiftly and absurdly, grabbing him by the neck, lifting him high, and said coldly, "I didn't expect you to be of any help, but if you're going to act like a troublemaker and disturb the morale, I don't mind killing you now. It'd be quicker than dying at the hands of those drug cartels. I'll make it painless."
Ye Bing, with his neck choked, could only whimper, unable to speak. He looked into Luo Chao's eyes filled with wild killing intent, his pupils like those of a beast, imnsely terrifying. His face turned pale, feeling that if Luo Chao even slightly twisted his arm, his neck would snap. He was terrified, a fear that ca from deep within his soul.
How could soone have such a terrifying gaze? Who on earth was Luo Chao!
Zhan Fei stood up, saying seriously, "Luo Chao, Ye Bing was just spouting nonsense out of confusion. Don't take it to heart. Please put him down."
Throughout, Zhan Fei hadn't said a single kind word for Lanya, let alone comfort her. In his eyes, life was the most important thing. Once dead, nothing else mattered. Even though he really liked Lanya, now to him, Lanya was just a pink skull, potentially harmful.
Luo Chao put Ye Bing down, and at that mont, the dozing little wolf nearby seed to sense Lanya's mood, quickly running to her, snuggling into her embrace, and couldn't help but scornfully say, "Sotis, so people aren't even as good as animals!"
Such things are what no one wishes to happen, especially Lanya. Otherwise, why would this princess of fate be crying? However, Ye Bing, Zhan Fei, and Ruan Qing never considered if they encountered the sa situation as Lanya, they might also scream in fear. All they knew was to bla.
Not even as good as animals! The three of them cringed, but due to Luo Chao's high combat power, they did not act out.
"Lanya, you take a good rest. I'm going out for a bit," Luo Chao was indifferent to the three of them, after all, it was the first ti eting. Yet, after such an experience, it beca evident what kind of people they truly were, making it hard for him to hide his disdain. Friends were not made this way.
However, they too were ordinary people. Faced with such matters, anyone would typically turn faces. Luo Chao wouldn't dislike them or deliberately distance himself, but he would not develop a deep friendship with them.
"Where are you going?" Lanya asked.
Luo Chao smiled mysteriously: "Going out to do so preparations, to give those drug cartels a surprise."
Now, they could only rely on Luo Chao as their lifeline. After Luo Chao left, Lanya hugged the little wolf tightly, finding solace in it, imdiately feeling a lot more settled, and soon fell asleep in exhaustion.
Zhan Fei and the others looked at sleeping Lanya, knowing that this incident had created a rift between them and Lanya. But this no longer mattered, keeping their lives was the most crucial thing now.
Back where Luo Chao and the others started their escape, the drug cartel mbers were gathering there, more than 40 fierce individuals, each ard with an AK-47, absolutely overwhelming firepower.
"Fourth Brother, shall we go up the mountain and take them out now?" The leading bandit was a bespectacled man, tall and thin like a telegraph pole. Because of long-term drug use, his eyes were lifeless, and his face was hollowed out, resembling a living skeleton, making him sowhat eerie looking.
The bespectacled man was their leader, known as Fourth Brother. He had gathered over 40 brothers, coming to the center of these desolate mountains to open up a fertile piece of land, living off poppy cultivation, following by drug manufacturing and dealing, garnering profits up to hundreds of millions a year!
Because the risks were so high, Fourth Brother originally planned to do it for just one year, but the massive profits drove him to continue after the first year. This was his second year doing it. Unexpectedly, news broke out of wild humans here, unsettling the area.
Previously, they encountered six adventure seekers searching for wild humans, but luckily, they were discovered by his brothers in ti. Otherwise, if they had escaped, the consequences would have been unimaginable—such a large-scale poppy cultivation and drug production absolutely warranted the death penalty!
Fourth Brother chuckled sinisterly: "This is their only way out, and the other side of the mountain is a cliff. There's no cell signal here, so they can't escape. We'll feast and drink well tonight and start the action in the morning. Kill the n on sight, but capture the won alive."
Won? Fourth Brother's underlings all glanced at the scattered ss on the ground—five tents, a laptop, even a cara with a tripod—and when they saw a pack of sanitary pads among the items, they burst out laughing loudly. This was just too amusing; they discarded even sanitary pads to lighten their load during the escape. How heavy could a pack of sanitary pads be?
There really are won among them! All the bandits couldn't help but lustfully beam. It's been far too long since they had any at.
From the items on the ground, it was clear they were adventure seekers searching for wild humans or a research group. Therefore, Fourth Brother was not at all worried about them pulling any tricks. Only after eating and drinking their fill would they have the strength to climb the mountain to capture them.
It was already near nightfall, and Fourth Brother was too lazy to search for Luo Chao and the others in the dark, opting to start the operation early the next morning. His lips curled into a cruel arc: "Don't bla for being ruthless, it's you who walked right into the trap!"
With those words, all the bandits returned to their wooden huts, leaving nine of them behind—three per team, taking turns on sentry duty to prevent them from coming down the mountain, blissfully unaware.
