Audrick Zachmann knew that Amadeus Yancey and Nathalie Quinlan were living together.
The mont Stanley Zachmann ntioned wanting to visit Nathalie’s residence, his reaction was imdiate and exaggerated. His voice raised as he quickly interjected, "Ah! Uncle, I just rembered—I left sothing at Nathalie’s place. How about this: I’ll take Nathalie ho, and I’ll grab what I left there. You should head to the school first."
"..." His sudden outburst only heightened Stanley’s suspicion and unease. Sure enough, Stanley frowned.
Audrick scrambled to co up with an excuse, pushing Stanley by the shoulder towards the door as he talked. "Just listen to and head to the school first! I’ll take Nathalie ho. Don’t you trust ?"
"She stays at..."
Audrick knew he couldn’t dodge this one. His temples throbbed as he steeled himself and said, "Nathalie lives at the Rhine Apartnts. That’s the apartnt complex right next to Tsinghua University, close to campus. You can go visit another ti when you’re free. Don’t worry, Nathalie has soone looking after her."
As soon as he ntioned "Rhine Apartnts," Stanley’s steps visibly faltered mid-stride, and his expression showed disbelief.
"You’re saying Rhine Apartnts?"
Stanley himself was a professor at Tsinghua University, part of the laboratory division.
Having lived in the area for years, he was well-acquainted with the nearby properties. Tsinghua was a century-old prestigious school, surrounded by nurous residential complexes.
Everyone who knew the area understood one thing: properties near the university ca with a hefty price tag.
Especially those adjacent to a century-old institution like Tsinghua—the prices were astonishingly high.
Of course, none of this was the real reason for his shock.
The Zachmann Family had been settled in Beijing for decades. When Mr. Zachmann had been reassigned to the city, the whole family had followed him here.
While the Zachmann Family wasn’t exorbitantly wealthy, they had secured themselves a place within Beijing’s elite social circle. A legitimate and respectable position, no less—they weren’t the kind of family that would struggle to pay for things.
Properties near Tsinghua were expensive, but the Zachmann Family could afford them.
The problem, however, was that the Rhine Apartnts were unlike other high-end residential complexes near Tsinghua. The Rhine Apartnts were exceptionally unique—not just anyone with money could live there.
To live there, one needed more than just wealth; one’s background and status had to be extraordinary.
Suffice to say, the Zachmann Family didn’t asure up to that level!
How did Nathalie end up living at the Rhine Apartnts?
Stanley couldn’t wrap his head around it, and Audrick was terrified he *would* figure it out. He didn’t even give his uncle a chance to ask further questions. After mumbling a few perfunctory explanations, Audrick hurriedly shoved him out the door, flagged down a cab on the street, and forcibly ushered him into the vehicle. He even quickly instructed the driver on the destination.
The bright yellow cab sped off with Stanley Zachmann inside, leaving behind a puff of exhaust.
Only then did Audrick exhale a long sigh of relief, patting his chest as he turned back to the girl who had just walked out. With a resigned expression, he muttered, "Nathalie, you nearly scared to death just now."
He noticed Nathalie looking rather laid-back, as if she didn’t feel the slightest bit of anxiety. Shaking his head in helplessness, he added, "Your dad still doesn’t know you’re living with Amadeus. If he finds out..."
Well, Mr. Zachmann had already approved, true.
Technically, even if Stanley found out, he couldn’t overrule the old man. But whether or not Stanley could "twist an arm" better than the old man wasn’t the issue. What Audrick knew for sure was that Stanley had repeatedly instructed him before leaving for abroad to take good care of his younger sister. If Stanley found out that his supposed care had resulted in his "little brother" sneaking off with Nathalie right in front of him, Audrick would be as good as dead!
"In any case, better he doesn’t find out for now."
If Stanley did find out, there was no guarantee he’d give Nathalie a hard ti, but without a doubt, he’d co after *him* first!
