"Amadeus."

Sadam Vinson sighed briefly, then turned around, ready to speak to Amadeus Yancey.

As he turned back, he saw the man reclining casually on the side of the sofa. His strikingly handso face was particularly attention-grabbing.

At this mont, Amadeus squinted slightly, crossed his legs, took a sip of tea from the teacup he was holding with one hand, then slowly placed the cup down. He pulled out his phone, found the pinned avatar of a girl in his WhatsApp chat list, and dialed a video call.

"Beep..."

The sound of the call imdiately filled the private room.

"You’re calling Nathalie Quinlan?" Sadam Vinson’s attention was drawn and he walked over...

Wallace Radcliff, Mario Cagwin, and Alfred Garland were all gazing down toward the auction floor.

The auction had already begun.

The first item up for bid was incredibly rare—a research technology for new energy vehicles.

New energy is currently one of the hottest global trends, with technologies like electric vehicles and autonomous driving being the core industries of future high-tech advancents.

There isn’t a cross-national group out there that wouldn’t want a stake in this!

Everyone is eager to make their mark in this field, and thus, having mature and sophisticated research outcos in this area becos increasingly valuable.

Sure enough, the auction prices below weren’t low.

The Golden Pavilion announced a starting price in the seven-figure range, skipping the flashy auction gimmicks seen in so dostic auctions, opting instead for a straightforward and bold approach.

"57 million."

As soon as the price was announced, bidders quickly followed suit.

"60 million."

"87 million."

"90 million."

"..."

With these skyrocketing prices, after just seven or eight bids, it was already nearing an eight-digit figure and was racing toward the nine-digit range.

For Wallace Radcliff and Mario Cagwin, it was their first ti at such an event, and they were montarily overwheld by the aggressive bidding below.

Mario Cagwin’s refined face turned pale. Startled, he adjusted the glasses on the bridge of his nose, his shocked expression failing to mask his disbelief as he turned to Alfred Garland. Lowering his voice, he asked, "Are all the auction prices here... this high?"

"More or less," Alfred Garland replied nonchalantly. He poured each of them a cup of tea, placing it on their respective tables. He then stretched his neck to look toward the floor below. After only a quick glance, he casually withdrew his gaze, appearing indifferent and uninterested. He explained to them calmly, "This isn’t even considered high. The items auctioned at the start are rely appetizers; the truly expensive ones are always reserved for the grand finale."

The rare tals they were here to bid on were part of the final auction’s centerpiece items.

All these scientific ventures just proved one thing—research burns money!

The items Master Cadmus was vying for? If not for The Ninth Institute, almost no one dostically could even claim to have them.

"This isn’t expensive!" Wallace Radcliff clicked his tongue in disbelief, gasped audibly, and stared as the prices soared past a hundred million. His face turned slightly green, unable to fathom that money could be spent this way.

...

The auction downstairs continued with great fervor.

The items Amadeus Yancey was interested in would be presented later; Alfred Garland was tasked with keeping an eye out and notifying him when it was ti.

Amadeus attempted to initiate a video call to Nathalie Quinlan for the first ti, but she didn’t answer.

It wasn’t until the last few seconds of his second attempt that she finally picked up.

The cold yet carefree aura that surrounded Amadeus naturally softened.

When the video connected, the image on the phone shook violently, suggesting that Nathalie Quinlan was adjusting her cara on the other end. After a chaotic mont of pitch-black fumbling, the screen finally brightened.

It seed Nathalie had just finished bathing; she was wearing a sweater, the hem of which revealed glimpses of her two long, fair legs that were almost blindingly pale.

Her hair was still dripping wet as she casually grabbed a towel to pat it dry. Tilting her head slightly, her fiercely independent black-and-white eyes stared through the cara lens at him—a look of sheer defiance.
