Tiffany Olsen froze for a mont. She hadn’t expected she could pick the song. But after a second thought, rembering a piece of news she’d read before about Nathalie Quinlan being Mr. Norton’s student, she realized it wasn’t that surprising anymore. A little embarrassed, she lowered her head, her ears turning red as she softly said, "Anything’s fine?"
Nathalie Quinlan raised an eyebrow, her tone casual yet sharp: "Sure."
Tiffany took a deep breath, then confessed her little secret in front of everyone: "I... I like Lighten Chaser. I’m her fan. If it’s possible, can I choose her song, ’Nirvana’?"
’Nirvana’ has a very unique style and requires a lot of technical skills. Many music content creators have tried to learn and imitate it, but their results turned out diocre at best.
This is precisely why Lighten Chaser is worshipped as a god by music creators and underground rock artists alike.
Simply because she’s just too damn amazing!
Nathalie: "..."
Tiffany, seeing Nathalie not agreeing right away, thought she’d asked for too much. She quickly waved her hands in denial: "No, no need! I was just casually suggesting it. If you’re not comfortable with it, just pretend I didn’t say anything. We can use whatever song you’re more at ease with."
A song she’s more at ease with?
Nathalie propped her pale, slender fingers under her chin, her eyes flickering slightly. How should she put this? That particular song—well, she actually was quite comfortable with it. Maybe a little *too* comfortable...
She had originally thought the opening ceremony would just require her to play along and support soone else, nothing that would put her in the spotlight. Now it seed like she might’ve been overthinking it a bit.
"Did I say sothing wrong..." Tiffany’s nerves only grew when Nathalie remained silent, leaving her so flustered she didn’t even know what to do with her hands. Internally, she scolded herself for being such an idiot—why would she blurt out such a technically challenging song? What if Nathalie thought she was doing it on purpose?
She hesitated for a mont, just about to offer another explanation—
When a calm, steady, and slightly detached voice from Nathalie broke the tension: "It’s fine. ’Nirvana,’ right? We can do that."
"..." Tiffany was utterly dumbstruck.
They could? Just like that? Had she misheard?
Nathalie shifted her posture, resting an arm casually on the desk. Her snow-white fingertips tapped against the surface rhythmically, her tone still indifferent as she added, "But I don’t have that much ti. I can only find ti to go over it with you, maybe four or five practice sessions. Is that okay?"
Four or five practices were her absolute limit. Any more than that—first, she simply couldn’t spare the ti. Second... it would be too troubleso.
She hated hassle.
"Alright, alright!" Tiffany bobbed her head like a little chick pecking at grain, afraid Nathalie might take it back. She looked at Nathalie with a wide grin, her dimples showing as she sweetly added, "Then... I’ll send you a ssage in advance to set a ti. Are you in the group chat? Let’s add each other on WhatsApp!"
Nathalie gave a slight nod, skipping any pleasantries: "I’m the one with a Q as my profile pic. Add , and I’ll accept."
Tiffany had been wanting to add Nathalie as a contact for ages. But since they’d never t before, she’d always felt it would be inappropriate to randomly send a request out of nowhere.
Now that the subject was brought up and there was a legitimate reason, she was delighted. She eagerly pulled out her phone to add Nathalie and, to make sure there was no confusion, even added, "Oh, by the way, I’m the one with the lucky cat avatar."
Nathalie’s phone gave a soft *ding*. She glanced at it, seeing that her friend request list now included soone with a lucky cat profile picture.
She casually approved the request and then looked back up at Tiffany, saying matter-of-factly, "All done, you’re added."
Tiffany was so happy she didn’t know what to do with herself. She nodded fervently with a bright smile and quickly added, "Alright then, it’s settled! I’ll let you know in advance, and we’ll practice once you’re free."
The others in the private room who’d been watching this unfold couldn’t help but feel envious when they saw Tiffany add Nathalie to her contacts. So of the boys, in particular, were shooting jealous glances her way. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the guts to ask to add Nathalie themselves and could only stew in silent regret.
