Beside her sat Derliand Gober, who politely said to her, "It seems it’s the Clinical Departnt’s turn. I heard it’s a program led by Caryn Zachmann and a few students from the Clinical Departnt collaborating together."
"Oh," Stephanie Tanzil responded with complete indifference, as if she wasn’t the least bit interested. Upon closer observation, there was even a faint trace of disdain in her gaze.
Stephanie had once thought well of Caryn, but her impression of her had gotten progressively worse over ti.
After all, the Zachmann Family was supposed to be from a cultured, scholarly lineage.
And yet, Caryn had committed the disgraceful act of stealing soone else’s identity. In their social circle, her behavior was frankly quite low.
Seeing her apparent lack of interest, Derliand assud she hadn’t heard about that incident yet, so he smiled pleasantly and said, "It’s all over the internet that Caryn Zachmann is actually Light Chaser. So this performance by the Clinical Departnt is considered one of the highlights of the anniversary celebration."
Stephanie didn’t respond to his comnt, instead asking an entirely unrelated question, "Who’s taking the stage for the Chinese dicine Departnt this year?"
"The Chinese dicine Departnt?" Derliand was stunned for a mont, then pondered and replied uncertainly, "It’s probably Nathalie Quinlan? I heard their top scholar in the college entrance exams is performing."
At the ntion of Nathalie Quinlan’s na, the smile on Derliand’s face faded slightly, while Stephanie sat up straighter and grinned, "Oh, this should be interesting!"
Derliand: "..."
Before Derliand could figure out what exactly Stephanie found ’interesting,’ the fourth program had concluded, and the host on stage began announcing the next act.
"Next up, let’s welco the Clinical Departnt’s performance of [Nirvana]!"
The Great Hall erupted in thunderous applause.
The lights on the stage dimd, and a heavenly piano lody echoed from the distance, growing closer with penetrating power that filled the entire hall...
Nirvana itself was a piece full of uplifting energy.
From the initial bass tones to the trembling vibratos in the middle and finally to the triumphant crescendo of rebirth, the entire composition carried a seamless flow.
It was incredibly moving!
Caryn’s piano skills were not lacking, and coupled with her relentless practice over this ti, as the stage lights illuminated her, she sat atop the piano bench in a custom-made evening gown, her fingers flying over the black and white keys—a scene straight out of a drama.
Using words like "breathtaking" to describe this mont wouldn’t be an exaggeration!
Chloe Bailey and a few other girls from the Clinical Departnt, dressed in phoenix-thed gowns, danced gracefully around her.
The entire presentation was visually stunning and impactful.
In the audience, many were utterly srized.
In the fourth row, Stewin Hoffman whispered in awe, "No wonder people say Light Chaser’s music can penetrate the soul, evoking a profound resonance..."
Zeus Tanzil, who had often listened to the original piece while staying by Stephanie’s side, responded indifferently and dismissively, "The original piece of Nirvana was perford on a synth. If you’d heard the original, you wouldn’t feel this performance was touching your soul—it’s more like it’s assaulting your eardrums!"
In Zeus’s opinion, what Caryn had done to the piece was as grating as nails on a chalkboard, utterly pretentious!
Stewin turned his head in confusion to look at Zeus, feeling that his critique was excessively harsh. By comparison, Caryn’s performance was leagues above the acts that had co before.
He shrugged it off and turned his attention back to the stage, assuming Zeus’s words were nothing more than his way of defending his goddess.
After all, his goddess was bound to be utterly crushed by Caryn Zachmann today, left with nothing but fragnts of her pride.
*
Caryn’s performance lasted a total of six minutes. Soon, the six minutes ca to an end.
Accompanied by the piano, Caryn descended with the stage lift.
The host returned to announce, "Ahem, next up, let’s enjoy a solo performance from the Chinese dicine Departnt—also [Nirvana]!"
