Celine Tucker listened to him, quickly lifted her eyelids to glance at him, then lowered them again, suppressing the cold indifference and disdain in her eyes.
"This issue blowing up online isn’t good for Nathalie. Ask Caryn to post on Twitter explaining that she isn’t Lighten Chaser. At least don’t let the fans keep stirring things up."
"Dad, that’s not a good idea." Celine Tucker flatly refused Mr. Zachmann’s request but leisurely adjusted the shawl draped over her shoulders. After pausing for a mont, she continued, "You know how uncontrollable online chatter can be. How is Caryn supposed to post on Twitter to explain herself? She never claid to be Lighten Chaser, it’s just so netizens speculating that she is. There’s also another group of netizens who haven’t made such assumptions! If Caryn steps forward now to say she’s not Lighten Chaser, what will the other group think of her? They’ll assu Caryn orchestrated this whole drama herself."
She didn’t explicitly say she was supporting Caryn Zachmann, but this attitude clearly sided with Caryn, showing her reluctance to make a phone call!
Elders spoke, and juniors had never been granted the right to interrupt.
Audrick Zachmann had been silently enduring, watching as his mother rejected his grandfather’s request. His temples throbbed furiously as he reached his breaking point and retorted angrily, "She was orchestrating it herself! If she wasn’t, then what was she doing?"
Celine Tucker was startled by his outburst. She snapped back to her senses and, seeing his indignant expression, furrowed her brows and reprimanded him coldly, "Audrick, what are you doing?"
"I’m saying that the online backlash is entirely her fault for stirring things up—it’s all self-orchestration!"
"Everyone already knows that Nathalie... Lighten Chaser ntioned on Twitter, publicly acknowledging as her brother. During the school anniversary, of all the performances she could’ve chosen, why did she pick a song by Lighten Chaser? Wasn’t it clearly an attempt to make people think she was Lighten Chaser?"
"Audrick!" Celine Tucker’s face turned ashen.
Audrick ignored her and continued, "Now that things have escalated online, so uninford netizens have even begun attacking the school and Nathalie. She refuses to answer the phone or respond to ssages, unwilling to co forward to clarify the truth. Soone with such an attitude—you call her innocent? Do you believe it yourself? I surely don’t."
A sudden slap rang out, abruptly cutting off Audrick’s words.
Celine Tucker’s raised hand trembled slightly, showing just how enraged she was, even her voice had risen: "The person you’re talking about is your sister, not your enemy!"
Audrick’s dashing left cheek was reddened from the slap. He raised his head, his hair slightly disheveled, but it didn’t detract from his striking looks.
He lifted his hand to wipe the blood at the corner of his mouth, smiling—his smile was indifferent, tinged with a hint of reckless defiance. He locked eyes with Celine Tucker: "Nathalie Quinlan is also my sister."
"..." Celine Tucker was so enraged that she nearly rolled her eyes, her raised hand trembling as if she was about to strike him again.
This damned troublemaker!
A biological sister and a cousin are not the sa! The closeness and distance are worlds apart!
What is Nathalie Quinlan worth? How could she possibly compare to Caryn? They are the real family!
But these thoughts could only stay buried in her heart. No matter how furious Celine Tucker got, she wasn’t reckless enough to blurt them out in front of Mr. Zachmann.
Even so, her gaze toward Audrick beca increasingly filled with exasperation.
"Caryn will not co forward to clarify." Celine Tucker spoke quickly and firmly, her tone leaving no room for negotiation, as if this matter had been decisively settled.
Audrick saw through her. She didn’t care at all how netizens insulted Nathalie. He curled his lips into a smile, then turned away with a cold, dismissive response: "Alright, since this involves too, if she won’t clarify, I will!"
