Audrick Zachmann, with short dyed hair, ca in from outside. Compared to the Zachmann family’s formal attire, he dressed very casually, as if he had just rushed over from a work shoot, his motorcycle jacket particularly eye-catching.
As soon as Audrick ca in, he saw that all the main seats were taken. In the large private room, only three poor seats were left unoccupied.
Suppressing the mockery in his eyes, he curled his lips slightly, withdrew his gaze, casually greeted the Zachmann family elders, and headed straight to one of the three empty seats, pulled out a chair, and sat down.
Hendrik Zachmann, seeing him arrive, lifted his gaze and finally couldn’t help but ask him, with obvious dissatisfaction in his deep eyes, "Where’s Nathalie? She hasn’t co yet? Where is she?"
"You’re talking about Nathalie?" Audrick glanced again at the main seat that wasn’t reserved for Nathalie, and smiled perfunctorily: "Oh, she’s not coming."
Hendrik was montarily stunned, not reacting for a long ti: "What did you say? Nathalie, she... isn’t coming?"
They all gathered here tonight just to hold a celebration banquet for Nathalie, and now Audrick arrives late to tell them the guest of honor isn’t coming?
Hendrik couldn’t accept this outco: "Didn’t you tell her we prepared a celebration banquet for her tonight?"
"I did. She’s not available." Audrick casually replied, "Isn’t big brother also back for over a week and had no ti to have dinner with Nathalie?"
Hendrik impatiently retorted: "That was because...!"
"Because of what?" Audrick glanced at him nonchalantly, cutting him off, and subtly looked towards Caryn Zachmann’s direction.
Hendrik held back his words, unable to speak openly in front of so many relatives.
It was because Caryn told him that Nathalie was just trying to show off by participating in competitions, and he wasn’t fond of this cousin whom he hadn’t t yet.
He had been too busy since returning, and given the poor impression of his cousin, Hendrik had no ti to et.
Who knew Nathalie would advance through rounds to reach the semifinals.
Audrick dismissively asked him: "For what?"
Hendrik was montarily speechless: "..."
Caryn was his biological sister, they grew up together, he couldn’t possibly explain in front of relatives that it was due to Caryn’s words that he misunderstood Nathalie, could he?
Audrick, seeing his reaction, knew what he was thinking and snickered, then coolly added: "Alright, you’ve been busy, Nathalie is busy too. I called Nathalie, and she said she needs to prepare for her competition and doesn’t have ti to co. She told us to enjoy the al ourselves."
Audrick was initially worried that Nathalie’s absence would offend too many people, but now, it seems fortunate she didn’t co!
All the main seats were taken; what kind of celebration banquet was Hendrik hosting? Who was it for?
If he hadn’t known who the banquet was for today, he would have thought it was for Caryn Zachmann.
Hendrik was rendered speechless, feeling a bit hot-faced, stuck in an awkward spot, but he couldn’t deny the truth in Audrick’s words.
But with Nathalie not coming, wouldn’t tonight’s banquet end up a joke?
Hendrik was fretting when his phone buzzed again, a text ssage.
He skimd the text, his expression turned even more awkward, and he looked up and said to the room full of Zachmann family mbers: "Uncle just ssaged back saying he has to attend a conference and won’t co."
Mr. Zachmann isn’t coming.
Nathalie isn’t coming.
Even Stanley Zachmann isn’t coming.
This celebration banquet turned out to be an embarrassing affair for the Zachmann family; as the al wrapped up, everyone finished absentmindedly, with little appetite and it ended hastily.
