Nathalie Quinlan rolled up the sleeve of her right arm and glanced at the wound on her arm. The flesh was slightly exposed, with so dust around the edges, looking quite horrific. However, apart from the pain, she felt nothing special.
She lowered her sleeve, nodded calmly, and said, "Thank you, doctor, I don’t need anesthesia."
The female doctor didn’t expect her to decide so quickly to forego anesthesia, not even taking a mont to think about it. She paused in surprise for a second before nodding and instructing the nurse to prepare the necessary items for stitching. She stood up and said, "Alright, you go wait for in the adjoining examination room. I’ll wash my hands and be right over."
"Okay."
Nathalie stood up, pulled down her sleeve, looking as if nothing was wrong, pursed her lips, and prepared to open the door with her uninjured left hand.
Almost simultaneously, the door opened from the outside.
She bumped right into the person coming in.
The man carried a mix of sweat and mint scent, appearing quite agitated. It was evident that Amadeus Yancey had hurried over in a frenzy, driving the car fast along the way.
"Are you alright?"
It was the first ti Nathalie saw this unsteady side of him. She hesitated, shrugged her shoulders, and feigned casualness by swinging her right arm: "I’m alright, my arm is broken."
Amadeus saw that she could still smile, and without another word, he examined Nathalie up and down, confirming she was only injured in the right arm, and relaxed slightly. His brows furrowed tightly, and he asked in a deep voice, "Do you know who did it?"
Nathalie felt as if the places his fingertips touched burned her skin like a wildfire. She stepped back, slightly raised her head, her facial contours smooth and confident, eyes holding a trace of wildness, bold yet sowhat lazy: "No idea."
Just as she finished, she curled her lips into a smile and smacked her lips, "I only know soone is being reckless."
Valencia Jett had just told her that soone had been targeting her recently.
Then she encountered a large truck driving in the wrong direction towards her on her way ho.
That person seed anxious, as if afraid she’d live another day.
Nathalie didn’t know who did it, but she knew there were only a few who could do such a thing, and once investigated, she’d know who it was.
On the surface, she appeared indifferent, not even caring much, but Amadeus could feel the subdued agitation all around the girl. Nathalie had already restrained herself, yet he could still sense the anger lying beneath her calm façade.
He wrapped his arms around her, gently soothing the girl’s back with his large hand.
Nathalie didn’t speak, and he didn’t ask.
But he was well aware that the car accident was likely connected to the Zachmann family.
She had barely escaped the Quinlan family in McKinney, only to encounter Caryn Zachmann and her people. Anyone would feel uneasy.
Especially Nathalie!
She was actually quite good to the Zachmann family mbers, including Caryn and the rest.
If it wasn’t for the blood kinship, seeing the things Caryn had done, anyone else would have seen Nathalie pinning them down for payback.
But she tolerated repeatedly, and her forbearance only seed to embolden their reckless behavior.
Amadeus’s hand lightly stroked the girl’s back, as if trying to calm the irrepressible hostility emanating from her.
His eyes, deep as cold pools, darkened slightly, his voice a bit grave, "If this matter is related to the Zachmann family, don’t worry about it, let handle it."
