Caryn Zachmann wanted to find a place to hide under such gaze; she struggled to open her mouth and uttered a dry, unpleasant sound.

Robert Radcliff stared at her intensely, seeming to want her to introduce him to Nathalie Quinlan.
Caryn’s mind was in chaos, breathing rapidly and nervously, not knowing how to answer.
Her line of sight kept darting toward Nathalie Quinlan’s direction.
The other person looked defiant, very lazy, as if she had no intention to engage with her.
Caryn humiliatingly withdrew her gaze, clenching her lips, her eyes wandering, feeling as if a million ants were crawling inside her heart.
She quickly weighed the gains and losses and, despite the imnse humiliation, decided to admit it.

Robert Radcliff started listening to Caryn, but as soon as Nathalie spoke, his attention was imdiately drawn to Nathalie, completely missing what Caryn said.

This ’them’ did not include Ellen Quarles.

Caleb Dax wasn’t interested in these social matters; upon hearing that Nathalie didn’t know these people, he lost patience visibly.
Ellen Quarles had never been so deaned before, but her social skills were significantly more advanced than Caryn and the others, promptly stowing away her complex feelings, smiling, and said: "Hello, Ms. Quinlan, nice to et you, please take care of us in the future."
Nathalie had no intention of reciprocating the pleasantries, very coldly said: "Taking care is unlikely."
The implication being... not that close!
Ellen’s bright and cheerful expression froze, not expecting Nathalie to be so ungracious, yet she held back, not showing it.
"Hehe, Ms. Quinlan is too modest, you’re so accomplished at a young age, there will be many areas we will need your guidance in the future."
