Nathalie Quinlan had just stepped out of the elevator and hadn’t t up with Shawn Norton yet when she heard Shawn Norton arguing with soone.
"Why are you suddenly not letting us in?"
"We sincerely apologize."
"I’m not forcing you to apologize, but you need to give us a reason for suddenly not letting us in. We’ve all co here, what are we supposed to think?"
"Apologies."
"As I’ve told you, I don’t want your apologies. I just want to know the reason you’ve kept us outside! We have invitations to your banquet, yet you won’t let us in or give us a reasonable explanation. Is this how you treat guests in Inderia?!"
Nathalie Quinlan slightly raised her cold, dark eyes, sowhat surprised.
She rarely saw Shawn get so angry; sothing must have really pissed him off.
Nathalie’s shirt collar was slightly open, with one hand in her pocket, in a rather defiant pose, as she walked towards the direction of the dispute.
As she arrived, she saw Master Cadmus, Jackson Wafford, and the others, as well as her dad and a few elderly professors.
Shawn was arguing with the doorman at the banquet hall entrance, red-faced and with his neck bulging, looking quite infuriated.
She walked over and slightly lifted her eyes to ask, "Dad, what’s going on?"
Stanley Zachmann turned and saw Nathalie, explaining in a slightly heavy tone, "Mr. Norton ca with the team to attend the banquet. We presented our invitations, but the doorman insists on not letting us in. When asked for the reason, they say nothing except for apologizing. Mr. Norton couldn’t hold back and started arguing with them, but they’re refusing to give a reason despite their apologies..."
Nathalie understood in an instant.
This situation was indeed infuriating.
Nathalie raised her eyes and saw the doorman maintaining the sa attitude, sincerely apologizing but still not letting them in: "We sincerely apologize."
Master Cadmus ca over at this point, greeted Nathalie, and then told Stanley Zachmann and the others: "I inquired with soone, they vaguely implied that we have offended the comrce alliance, and comrce alliance mbers are purposely causing trouble by not allowing us in."
"Why would they?" Jackson Wafford’s voice trailed off, realizing the reason, and his face turned ashen: "Is it because of that chip incident?"
"Most likely." Master Cadmus nodded.
Jackson Wafford was montarily speechless: "The Quarles Family did not act reasonably, trying to forcibly bla the plagiarism on us. We were rely defending ourselves. How can they put all the bla on us?"
Master Cadmus had an austere expression, not in high spirits: "The Quarles Family is one of the mbers of the comrce alliance; they will surely protect their own people. Even though the Quarles Family has already collapsed, they’ll still stand up for them. In essence, they’re not deliberately causing trouble for us because of the Quarles Family, but rather trying to save face for the comrce alliance!"
The comrce alliance in Inderia is not especially powerful but holds a moderate position among the middle tiers.
They are outsiders.
Even a powerful entity can’t compete with a local power, let alone a group of researchers!
On Inderia’s turf, if people want to make things difficult for them, there’s nothing they can do!
"Tell Mr. Norton to return for now! We’re not attending tonight’s banquet." Master Cadmus spoke calmly and steadily.
But he understood in his heart that the comrce alliance will certainly not let this go.
They will definitely cause trouble behind the scenes, and it’s likely that the subsequent banquets they plan to attend will also face the sa uphill battle.
