Before she could see clearly, Ghania Quinlan dodged her and hid her swollen half face, saying, "It’s nothing, nothing. I just fell by accident and scraped myself."
After speaking, afraid that Emilia Sullivan would ask more questions, her eyes shifted as she changed the topic, "Right, Mom, when I was coming in, I heard you guys say that Jane is going to be sentenced. What happened?"
Indeed, Emilia Sullivan’s attention was diverted. She furrowed her brows with an annoyed expression, "Who knows what kind of tricks Nathalie Quinlan has been playing behind the scenes. The police initially tried to be vague, saying Jane was abusing her power, but then they quickly changed their tune, firmly insisting that Jane’s actions constituted intentional harm. She’s facing at least a few years of imprisonnt."
Jeff Quinlan imdiately said hypocritically, "Alright, you always suspect that it’s Nathalie causing trouble. How could a high school girl influence the police? In the end, it’s Jane’s own fault for causing trouble. If she hadn’t hard anyone, would she have ended up in the Detention Center?"
"It was Nathalie who caused trouble behind the scenes, Mom’s right. Didn’t you say, Mrs. Tucker ntioned that Mr. Wafford is also implicated now, and there’s an ongoing investigation? Ah, Nathalie really is a trouble magnet; whoever gets involved with her ends up unlucky!"
Clenching her teeth, she cursed, "Just look at us, look at Ghania’s classmate, who hasn’t had bad luck after getting involved with her? I tell you, she’s like a jinx! You better stay away from her in the future!"
Jeff Quinlan, still thinking about leveraging Nathalie to connect with the Pinecone Group, was displeased and scolded her, "The view of a foolish woman. What do you know!"
"I know exactly what you’re plotting. You’re just thinking about her connection with Mr. Ingram of the Pinecone Group. Haven’t you thought about it though? She’s lived in our family for over a decade. If she knew such a significant figure, wouldn’t we have known about it?"
Emilia Sullivan’s words struck a chord with Jeff Quinlan, as he had been indecisive about this exact issue recently.
He had indeed seen Nathalie Quinlan coming out of the Pinecone Group, but since she grew up in the Quinlan family and was only ever notably pretty, otherwise entirely unremarkable, would he have allowed the won of the family to chase her away if she had known Silvania Ingram?
Plainly speaking, she was of no use and keeping her around would have only blocked Ghania Quinlan’s way.
Also, considering his wife and mother didn’t like her... Jeff Quinlan took a deep breath, his brows tightly furrowed, feeling extrely irritable. Thinking back to the failure at the school when he went to find Nathalie, he suddenly turned his tiger’s-eye gaze toward Ghania and suspiciously asked, "Ghania, did you do sothing to upset Nathalie? This afternoon I saw her get a phone call, and then she told that if she’s sure it was you, she wouldn’t let you off. What exactly did you do?"
Ghania Quinlan’s heart thumped wildly, almost leaping out of her throat. Her delicate, pale face looked unwell, sickly, and lacking in confidence, "No, I didn’t do anything."
"Then why would she say such strange things to out of nowhere?" Jeff Quinlan didn’t believe her.
Emilia Sullivan, however, couldn’t stand to hear Nathalie Quinlan’s na and exploded with anger at him, "You believe whatever she says. Is Ghania your daughter, or is she? Could it be that after raising her for a few years, you’ve actually started to consider her your biological child?"
"I didn’t an that..."
Emilia Sullivan, "I just can’t accept you putting her and Ghania on the sa level."
In the past few days, Jeff Quinlan had been busy dealing with company matters, to the point of getting blisters on his mouth. His mood was also not great, his eyebrows raised, and he was on the verge of blowing up.
Fortunately, Cindy Lawrence, who had been silent up until then, put on a stern face and spoke up, "Alright. You are always arguing at ho. Why all this noise? You’re going to drive away all the good luck with your endless quarreling."
