Now reading: Chapter 252: I Heard Your Piece Won an Award?1 from The Unveiling of Secret Queen, a Romance novel by Brother Ling.

Her temples throbbed slightly, and she could hardly believe, overwheld more by fear, "You... you summoned so many people today, and embarrassed repeatedly, just for this?"

She wasn’t exactly stupid. Nathalie Quinlan raised her eyebrows sharply, the ridge of her brows fierce, and her pitch-black eyes seed to hide a ferocious beast that was slowly closing in on her: "...I heard that the piece you submitted years ago won an award?"

Ghania Quinlan was suddenly shrouded in shadows. Her breathing stopped, and she widened her eyes in terror.

What did Nathalie Quinlan want to do?!

Nathalie Quinlan just looked at her, seeing her terror-stricken, her face pale and on the verge of collapse, and suddenly felt it uninteresting. She stood up straight, her eyes harboring a trace of roguishness, arrogantly saying, "Ghania Quinlan, I’ve told you before, don’t let find out that Edric’s fall down the stairs has anything to do with you, otherwise everything I’ve given you, I can take it all back.

Including what you’ve once taken for granted, and the things you care about the most. Today, I’m just giving you a warning, telling you to tuck your tail in until I’ve cleared things up. The fact that I haven’t sought you out doesn’t an you can act as if nothing has happened. Otherwise, today won’t be an exception!" She could slap her face today, and she could do it again tomorrow and the day after. For face-slapping, she didn’t have the habit of choosing auspicious days from the calendar.

"..."

With each word she uttered, Ghania Quinlan’s face grew paler by an inch.

Eventually as white as thin paper, ready to tear at a touch.

Nathalie Quinlan gave her one last glance, her pitch-black eyes holding a re glimr of faint light, chilling to the bone: "You’d better watch yourself!"

Ghania Quinlan clenched her hands fiercely, watching her finish speaking, turn, and leave. That silhouette, tall and straight, erect as a pen.

It seed to stretch an invisible chasm between them.

The difference between heaven and earth!

Ghania Quinlan bit her lip, her heart pounding wildly as if it were about to leap out of her throat...

Her legs turned weak, her hands powerless to support her against the washbasin, relying on the armrest there to keep from disgracefully collapsing to the floor.

She always felt that Nathalie Quinlan was serious this ti!

As long as Nathalie Quinlan found a little sothing...

That piece of music... Ghania Quinlan bit her lip so hard she could taste blood, her eyes darting around, her delicate face filled with panic and dread.

There was no surveillance in that hospital corridor, and as long as no one passed by... it was a remote spot... surely no one saw anything that day, right?

As she pondered this, her phone suddenly rang.

Ghania Quinlan trembled with fright, nearly screaming.

Fortunately, she bit her lip, trembling hands taking out the phone, looking down to see.

It was a phone call from Emilia Sullivan.

She let out a huge sigh of relief, and in her fright and shock, she could no longer stand. She slid down the basin to sit limply.

"Hello, Mom..."

*

Nathalie Quinlan exited the restroom, not imdiately returning to the private room.

The private room was too crowded, its din giving her a headache, the air not flowing well, stuffy to the point of discomfort.

She had intended to use the excuse of going to the restroom to get so fresh air. She hadn’t expected to encounter a mad dog there.

Nathalie Quinlan furrowed her brow, recalling Ghania Quinlan’s expression when the hospital was ntioned, her thin lips pursing as she sent a ssage to the Red Alliance.

[The Sun: How’s the investigation going?]

[Diana: No surveillance, difficult to investigate.]

City Hospital was only the best third-grade hospital in McKinney, not amounting to much outside of it, making its facilities and equipnt second-rate. Especially on the inpatient side, so areas were prone to oversight. For example, if a certain area saw little traffic, surveillance caras might not be installed, or windows on certain floors that weren’t on the top might lack railings, and so on...
