Nathalie Quinlan hadn’t expected that his observational skills were quite sharp. She pursed her lips, put down her phone, and admitted nonchalantly, "Yeah, I like it."
Amadeus Yancey raised the corners of his eyes and imdiately asked her, "What major are you planning to study in college? Chinese dicine?"
Audrick Zachmann also looked at Nathalie with curiosity, saying, "Nathalie, are you planning to study dicine too?"
Then there would be two people studying dicine in their family; he rembered Caryn was studying dicine too, apparently majoring in neurosurgery at Tsinghua University’s clinical program.
Nathalie didn’t know where he pulled out the ’too’ from. She relaxed back into her chair, with an expression as if she did everything nonchalantly, "Yeah, if nothing unexpected happens, I should be studying Chinese dicine."
She had thought that Amadeus would show an expression like Jhovany Sullivan and the others—a look as if she had gone astray—but, unexpectedly, he didn’t seem surprised at all. Those excessively deep narrow eyes looked at her, and with lips barely touching, he spoke in a low and enticing voice, "Chinese dicine is quite good, a good major. Have you decided which school you want to attend?"
"Tsinghua University, I guess." Nathalie recalled what Adelle Wafford had said that morning and asked him, "Do you know about Tsinghua’s independent admission process?"
Amadeus had studied at Tsinghua University for a year before, and he said, "I know about it. If I rember correctly, they have an admission exam in a month."
Nathalie lifted her eyebrows, saying, "I will take part in that."
She quite liked Chinese dicine, no, she should say she liked traditional culture within the country!
It didn’t matter whether it was Chinese dicine or the konghou.
Sohow, from a certain point, the Western stuff gradually beca popular dostically, from the small things like KFC and McDonald’s to the big ones like aerospace, clothing, food, housing, and transportation.
It seed as if anything with a few foreign words was good stuff.
But she felt that the truly good stuff was exactly what everybody was gradually forgetting.
Take the konghou, for instance. Just as the Western harp could play music, so could the konghou, and when playing the sa piece, the sound from a konghou ca out even more ethereal and pleasant to the ear.
Yet many people just don’t know about the existence of this instrunt, the konghou!
Take surgery as another example.
Speaking of surgery, everyone thinks it definitely falls within the realm of Western dicine, but in fact, whether it’s musical instrunts or techniques for treating and saving lives, the achievents that the West prides itself on are just the leftovers from our ancestors!
She wanted to study Chinese dicine because one, she wanted to interact and improve with people who understand it, and secondly, she wanted people like Adelle Wafford to see that so things were not exclusive to the West. The East has them too, C Country has things that are even better than those of the West!
"If nothing unexpected happens, I might be making a trip to Beijing in a month," Nathalie’s rosy lips pursed briefly, her dark eyes were composed and confident, without a hint of retreat, and with a hoarse yet audacious voice, she said, "To take part in an exam."
Everyone from Audrick Zachmann to Alfred Garland took a while to co back to their senses.
Alfred Garland was the quicker to react, his face full of surprise as he looked at her and said, "Ms. Quinlan, you want to take the Tsinghua exam?"
He stole a glance at Amadeus’s reaction and with a worried tone, said with difficulty, "Ms. Quinlan, the scores required by Tsinghua are quite high. Do you... do you want to think it over?"
The entrance exam for Tsinghua is not easy to pass, even if it’s through independent admission that doesn’t consider the national college entrance exam scores, the exam papers are still very challenging!
After the written test cos the interview, and with both scores combined, only those with high marks get admitted.
Each university has a limited number of enrollnt slots. At that ti, top students from all over the country will participate, and although it’s not the national college entrance exam, the competition is even fiercer.
No. 1 Middle School is considered good in McKinney, but on a national scale, it doesn’t count for much!
