Gabriella Cagwin rembered the words Jeff Quinlan had shared with her over the phone call yesterday, she curled the corner of her mouth slightly and lowered her voice, "Poor grades."

"How many students who transfer schools through connections have good grades? Anyway, our class doesn’t accept these kinds of students with connections. You tell , it’s nearly the senior year college entrance examination, why transfer in with bad grades? They can only drag down the class average!"

The teacher in charge of Class C strongly agreed, "Exactly."

Teachers also had performance assessnts, their year-end bonuses were closely linked to student grades, and nobody wanted to earn less salary for no reason.

Gabriella Cagwin sped up her actions, deftly flipping through a stack of information to pull out the files of her own students, holding them in her arms, and said to the teacher in charge of Class C, "I’ve finished sorting out the start-of-term information, Old Liu, you take your ti, I’m heading out first."

Seeing her about to leave, the teacher in charge of Class C put down his work and retained her with surprise, "The transfer student has arrived, don’t you want to see how she did on the diagnostic test?"

Gabriella Cagwin had promised Jeff Quinlan not to let Nathalie Quinlan study in their class, so how Nathalie perford was of little concern to her, even though she believed Nathalie could not make it into Class B!

"No need, I have to go and hold a morning eting in class to announce so good news."

The teacher in charge of Class C had heard the news, envy showing on his face, "It’s about Ghania Quinlan being recomnded for early admission to National Artists University, right? That’s great, the school’s online forum is full of posts about it, you will be the teacher of a big star from now on, don’t forget your colleagues when you rise to the top!"

"Haha, I’m off then."

...

By the sofa, the dean of students handed Nathalie Quinlan the papers for the diagnostic test, along with a pen and so scratch paper, and said, "The principal hasn’t arrived yet, you can start the test here, and when you’re finished, I’ll correct it. That way, we can determine which class you’ll attend."

"Alright!"

Nathalie Quinlan casually picked up the paper and scanned over the questions.

Just as she expected, they were all flashy but substanceless questions. Looking over the entire paper, two words ca to mind, "Boring!"

That’s how tests are; the questions they set are always impractical and boring, the ones you’ll never use in society.

The dean of students thought she was stumped by the difficulty of the questions and said kindly for a change, "This set includes math, physics, chemistry, English, and Chinese, and you have 90 minutes to answer, no need to rush, take your ti, accuracy is more important than quantity..."

Nathalie Quinlan humd noncommittally, her eyelashes flicking indifferently as though she had taken in the advice. She put down the paper, not using the pen the dean had given her, but pulled out a black water-based pen from her backpack instead.

"Then take your ti."

The dean of students left her to start the test and went back to organizing information with the other teachers.

He wasn’t worried about Nathalie cheating, with surveillance in the office and so many teachers around, if this transfer student really cheated, it would only show that she lacked integrity and was not very smart!

...

Ti passed by, second by second.

Half an hour later.

Nathalie put down her pen and suddenly spoke up, "Teacher, I’m done."

The dean of students paused and walked over, "So soon? Don’t you want to check?"

Nathalie put the cap back on her pen; her eyes were dark and cold, "No need."

"..."

He bent down to pick up Nathalie’s paper, glanced over it, it was all filled out. Out of professional ethics, he still couldn’t help but say, "Nathalie, this affects which class you go to, you should be careful."

Her eyes bold, Nathalie responded, "Hmm, I have done it very carefully."

At least this was the most serious exam she had ever taken.

Seeing she really didn’t intend to check again, the dean sighed, "Okay, then. I’ll correct it."

The other teachers noticed he was going to mark the test and gathered around to watch, all curious to see just how the new transfer student perford!
