Nathalie Quinlan couldn’t help but recall the earlier near-misunderstanding when she thought Amadeus was about to talk about a boyfriend, suspecting it was intentional. Lately, the frequency of him ntioning the word ’friend’ had been increasing, and she wasn’t sure what it ant.
Alfred Garland didn’t dwell on that, more concerned about the dinner plans, "Miss Quinlan, do you have ti tomorrow?"
Pulling herself out of her flustered state, Nathalie looked down at him, "Tomorrow?"
Before Alfred could nod, her voice ca out quite hoarse, "I have so things to do tomorrow, I might not be around during the day." She was planning to visit Pinecone Group’s branch in Beijing tomorrow where Jethro was waiting for her at the company.
All day away? Alfred was taken aback. Wasn’t it that Ms. Quinlan was in Beijing for the first ti, unfamiliar with the city, and hardly knew anyone?
How co Nathalie seed even busier than he and Amadeus?
Nathalie told him she was, in fact, just explaining the situation to Amadeus Yancey. After speaking, she tugged at her clothes, feeling sticky and uncomfortable. Her bright eyes, dark and radiant, looked at Alfred blocking her path and said, "I’ve already had dinner, I’m going to take a shower now, you guys should rest early too."
That ant she wasn’t planning on leaving her room again.
Alfred, with a belly full of words left unsaid, watched her pass by him and enter the first room, then heard the click of the door closing behind her.
With nothing achieved, he returned with a bitter face, muttering in confusion to Amadeus, "Amadeus, do you have any idea what Miss Quinlan is doing tomorrow? She’s not with us, she’s way too busy!"
Amadeus simply lifted his eyelids, appearing relaxed and indolent, his face showing no hint of surprise as if he had anticipated this outco. Resting his hand on the computer, he glanced at Alfred with his deep-set eyes, "I’m also busy tomorrow."
"Ah? Amadeus, you have plans tomorrow too?" Now Alfred was genuinely shocked and said, "What about the young lady and Mr. Yancey..."
Amadeus lips curled, his deanor as languid as Nathalie’s. He reopened the laptop with a graceful hand and spoke unhurriedly, "Aren’t you quite free? You can join them for the al."

The young lady and Mr. Yancey wanted you to introduce your fiancée to the family, what am I doing there, the three of us staring at each other?

In her room, Nathalie had taken a shower, drying her damp hair with a towel as she stepped out of the bathroom.
The room Amadeus had arranged for her was styled much like her place in McKinney, with pure white walls. The colors of the bed linens and quilts were sweet, a tender pink—not the black, white, and gray minimalism she preferred, yet it held a different kind of warmth like ho.
After drying the droplets from her hair, Nathalie tossed the towel casually on the desk and picked up her bag. Unzipping it, she emptied its contents.
A laptop.
An iPad.
A spray lighter.
A bottle of ordinary-looking gum and a few pens.
A practice workbook for exam preparation.
Nothing else.
Nathalie picked up the laptop from the heap.
Her laptop, looking jet-black and unadorned, was nothing like a girl’s gadget.
But those who had actually handled her laptop before, like Lowie Wilmar and Silvania Ingram, knew that despite its worn appearance and lack of style, it was exceptionally lightweight and fast-running, never once lagging, almost as if the internet worked exceptionally smooth at all tis. The feeling of playing major online gas on her laptop was thrilling.
She placed the laptop on the desk, opened it, and casually sat cross-legged in the chair.
