Alfred Garland was at a loss for words.
Nathalie Quinlan didn’t realize it herself until she ntioned it, and when she did, she also noticed that it seed most situations could be resolved with those two sentences.
He was deep in thought.
Nathalie Quinlan glanced at the ti on her phone and turned to Amadeus Yancey, "Is there a gift shop in the alley outside?"
Amadeus Yancey, with an easy and indulgent brow, leaned back in his chair, flicked the foam off his tea, relaxed with a slightly hoarse voice, "There should be."
After a pause, he locked eyes with Nathalie Quinlan and raised his eyebrows, "Do you want to go take a look?"
"I’d like to," Nathalie Quinlan didn’t hide her intentions and candidly said, "I want to see if there’s any toy that children like, to buy a gift for Edric to take back."
The little guy had been persistently sending her ssages every day. After all, since she had co out here, even though it wasn’t for a vacation, she could still bring a small gift back.
When Nathalie Quinlan brought up Edric Yancey, her face softened, and the banditry and haughtiness in her deanor faded significantly. She rested her hand on the table, idly tapping, and asked with casual indifference, "What kind of toys does Edric usually like?"
Upon hearing this, Alfred Garland imdiately wanted to blurt out, "The young master likes steel..."
He almost said things like steel soldiers, Gundam robots, and replica guns — the words were on the tip of his tongue when he suddenly rembered the image Edric usually had in front of Nathalie Quinlan, all cute and adorable, nothing like a little tyrant who liked playing with tough-toys!
The boy usually wore kitty T-shirts!
He almost needed to have cat ears on to continue being so well-behaved in front of Ms. Quinlan!
Nathalie Quinlan, "Steel what?"
Alfred Garland had an expression that said it all, imdiately shaking his head, feeling incredibly stifled, "Nothing, it’s nothing."
He was with Amadeus Yancey every day, after all, a graduate of a well-known university and not without brains; his reaction was very quick, and he imdiately changed his response, "I ant to say the young master likes steel-made kittens."
"...Steel-made kittens?" Nathalie Quinlan, taken aback, hadn’t expected such a toy to exist. She was genuinely curious, her dark eyes hiding a gleam, "Solid ones? How do you play with that?"
You can’t play with them! Alfred Garland answered in his heart, but his response was reasoned, "...You don’t play with them, you look at them. The young master likes cute-looking toys, to look at and collect."
"Oh," Nathalie Quinlan didn’t think it through too much, silently taking a ntal note. She planned to look for such a toy shop outside later.
As Amadeus Yancey listened to their exchange, his profound eyes aningfully glanced at Alfred Garland, making Garland shrink a little and miserably shut his mouth.
He didn’t want to tell lies, but Edric’s image in front of Ms. Quinlan was just that, and he didn’t want to give the ga away!
Nathalie Quinlan was using her phone to search, fearing that there wouldn’t be that solid steel-cored kitten toy, and wanting to see if it was available online, when she heard a llow voice beside her saying, "Don’t listen to Alfred Garland’s nonsense, Edric likes replica guns and ga consoles, which are available outside. You can just buy any one of them for him. He’ll like any gift you get him."
Replica guns and ga consoles were more in line with the types of toys a five-year-old boy would like. Nathalie Quinlan was indeed worried she couldn’t find so bizarre little kitty sculpture, so she felt relieved hearing him say that, her heart eased considerably, and her eyes sparkled with excitent and sharpness, "Then I’ll look for one later."
"Do you want to accompany you?" Amadeus Yancey imdiately offered.
Nathalie Quinlan glanced at him and declined, "No need, you go start the car first. I’ll join you once I’ve bought it; it won’t take long."
