The key was that Alfred Garland had a very good relationship with Ms. Quinlan, and one could tell it was the kind of friendship where peers could tease and play with each other. At the bustling Capital Airport in Beijing, Justin Wafford finally retrieved his luggage. He pulled his suitcase out of the arrival hall and onto the roadside outside before sending Nathalie Quinlan another location ssage.
No sooner had the ssage been sent than his screen lit up with an incoming call.
Seeing who was calling, Justin Wafford’s mouth curved into a smile. He found a quieter place and slowly answered the call.
"Hello, what are you calling for?"
The girl on the other end of the phone, impatient and with a sweet voice, complained, "Why did you take so long to pick up? Have you arrived yet? Did you see Nathalie?"
As Justin Wafford listened to the urgency in her tone, he felt a sourness in his heart, a feeling of unease. Holding the phone, he frowned in jealousy and said, "All you care about is Nathalie. You didn’t even ask about my safety."
"?"
"What’s there to worry about for a big guy like you? Aren’t you afraid so beauty will harass you or sothing?"
Justin Wafford arched an eyebrow handsoly, his expression sunny and bright. He blinked his eyes, knowing full well she couldn’t see him, yet he couldn’t help but laugh teasingly, "Well, you never know."
"Heh!" Jhovany Sullivan on the other end made a cold sound, teasing him, "In your dreams!"
After finishing, she eagerly wanted to know about Nathalie, "Have you seen Nathalie yet? How does she look, is she in good spirits?"
Justin Wafford looked up at the road, not seeing Nathalie just yet. He raised his hand to check the ti on his wristwatch and replied relaxedly, "Not yet. Nathalie’s still on the way, should be arriving soon. I’ll tell you when I see her."
Jhovany Sullivan sounded a bit disappointed, "You haven’t seen Nathalie yet..."
He sighed sowhat helplessly, "Don’t worry too much! Nathalie’s personality doesn’t seem like the kind to dwell on such trifles, maybe she doesn’t care."
"Easy for you to say, but if you were in her shoes, could you be completely indifferent?"
"Uh..."
Justin Wafford imagined a scenario where he had not passed the Tsinghua University entrance exam. After thinking for a while, his mind drew a blank; he couldn’t empathize at all.
His grades were barely enough to make it into a First-tier University. Asking him to imagine Nathalie’s disappointnt at not getting into Tsinghua was like asking a child to worry whether it was better to attend Tsinghua University or Southern University in the future.
Both were futile thoughts!
Jhovany Sullivan probably knew his personality. While he was still frowning and trying to imagine, she crisply suggested over the phone, "Forget it, even if you try, you won’t get it. Let put it another way. Just imagine if you hadn’t been accepted into any university, wouldn’t you feel awful?"
This he could imagine. He paused and then had an epiphany, "Yeah, that would be pretty awful."
"Right, you would feel awful, and so would Nathalie. She was all excited to take the exam, and then she didn’t pass, while Ghania Quinlan did. Imagine how upset Nathalie must be!"
