The light outside the private room was dim, and he walked to a quiet corner, making sure there was no background noise. Amadeus Yancey took out his phone, his eyelids drooping, his lashes casting a shadow over his deep and profound eyes in the light.

He opened the chat and saw the last ssage, which was Nathalie Quinlan’s recent reply to him, just two words without even a punctuation mark, showing how casually she replied at the ti.

Amadeus Yancey checked the ti she replied.

Two minutes ago.

She must have just gotten off the airplane and turned on her phone.

His lips curved slightly, and his gaze dropped as his long and pale fingers flipped through the phone book to find the contacts starred at the very top and dialed the number.

"Beep..." The phone rang seven or eight tis, but he waited with the patience of a saint. With one hand in his pocket and the other holding the phone, his sharp features showed not the slightest impatience, but rather a gentleness that curled and lingered.

*

McKinney Airport.

Nathalie Quinlan had just disembarked with her backpack and didn’t notice her phone ringing imdiately. It was only after she left the terminal building that she saw a missed call.

A Beijing number, showing it was from Amadeus Yancey.

She furrowed her brows and called back while lifting her eyes to speak with Justin Wafford, "You go get the luggage, I’ll wait for you over there."

Justin Wafford saw her on the phone and nodded without thinking, then waved generously, "Ah, alright. Nathalie, you go ahead; I’ll find you with the luggage boxes."

"Mhm."

Nathalie Quinlan didn’t bring a suitcase—in fact, she hadn’t brought any luggage on her trip to Beijing—her possessions reduced to a single shoulder bag, with no need for baggage claim, so naturally, she didn’t share the sa problem as Justin Wafford, who had to pick up his luggage at the baggage claim.

She disliked crowded places, so seeing the throngs of people around, she didn’t want to go there. Conveniently needing to return Amadeus’s call, she simply found a corner far away to wait, and also bought a bottle of mineral water from the vending machine. Holding the phone in one hand, she opened the water cap with the other and tilted her head back to take a sip.

Her brows and eyes were half-closed in disinterest, completely oblivious to the fact that she herself had beco a spectacle at the airport.

There was no helping it; McKinney was colder than Beijing, and the airport was filled with young people bundled up in coats, except for her, who dressed lightly.

Her skin was very white, as white as milk, which drew attention due to its striking pallor. Furthermore, she leaned against a pillar at the edge of the airport with a duckbill cap on, her deep black eyes obscured as her lashes swept up, exuding an aura of coolness that was very much in vogue—it was alarmingly chic.

There seed to be a hidden hook about her that ensnared the gaze of passersby.

When two young girls walked past her, they both stole glances in her direction and murmured to each other.

"Look at that girl over there, she looks so cool with that cap. Could she be so star?"

As a second-tier city, McKinney’s airport didn’t witness many celebrities on a regular basis.

The other girl shook her head, obviously a seasoned celeb-chaser: "I don’t think so, I haven’t seen her before. If the entertainnt circle had a Miss with such a temperant, she would’ve been famous by now. Where would we get the chance to see her as a nobody? Sigh, but this feeling, I think I’ve seen it sowhere before."

"Where?"

The girl thought for a long while but couldn’t rember, asking uncertainly, "Don’t you think she kind of gives off the vibe of Lighten Chaser in his videos? Like... really wild. And that hoodie she’s wearing is very similar to the ones Lighten Chaser wears in his videos."

It took her quite a while to find the word ’wild’ to describe it.

But then again, Lighten Chaser genuinely is wild.
