Emilia Sullivan sat in front of the vanity mirror in a good mood, applying skincare products when she noticed from the corner of her eye that her phone was ringing. She said carelessly, "Who is it, calling you so late at night? It’s not soone from the company again, is it?"
Jeff Quinlan walked over to pick up the phone, looked down, and saw it was a call from Mr. Vinson. His brows imdiately furrowed, and a sense of foreboding filled his mind.
As he headed out, he said, "I’m going to take a call."
Seeing him hurry out with the phone, Emilia Sullivan said unhappily, "It’s already nine o’clock at night, can’t they wait until tomorrow to discuss their urgent matters? It’s so annoying, they don’t even let you sleep."
Hearing her complaint, Jeff Quinlan went out, closed the door behind him, shutting out her voice, and walked downstairs while putting on his coat and answering the call.
"Hello, Mr. Vinson, sorry about that, I was just taking a shower and didn’t catch your call. What’s up? Is it Freddy Cagwin..."
"What? You’re saying Nathalie hit Mr. Wilmar? And she’s at the police station?"
Jeff Quinlan felt dizzy for a mont, staggered, and almost slipped down, luckily he was on the stairs and quickly grabbed onto the banister to steady himself, saying with disbelief, "How could she do such a foolish thing! Also, how did she know where Mr. Wilmar was?"
On the other end of the phone, Mr. Vinson expressed regret over Nathalie Quinlan hitting soone and criticized himself for bringing Nathalie there, fretting that now a ss had been stirred up, the Wilmar family would definitely not let it go lightly, and he might get dragged into the ss as well.
All he could do was to keep apologizing, saying sweet words, and showing that he would find a way to resolve the problem.
After hanging up the phone, he stood at the top of the stairs in a daze for a while before he slowly walked toward the living room.
No matter what, Jeff Quinlan had not expected Nathalie to return, nor for her to go looking for Jecksen Wilmar and even to have hit him.
He didn’t understand how Nathalie knew that Freddy Cagwin’s situation was related to Jecksen Wilmar, given that even if Nathalie knew that Freddy Cagwin was at the police station, she wouldn’t be aware of Jecksen Wilmar’s involvent in the matter.
Aunt Cagwin didn’t even know Jecksen Wilmar’s na; when Mr. Vinson ntioned it to him, he didn’t dare speak too clearly and only vaguely referred to "Mr. Wilmar from Beijing."
He knew Aunt Cagwin, who could barely recognize a few characters, would have no possibility of knowing who Jecksen Wilmar was!
Jeff Quinlan felt an imnse headache coming on. He poured himself a glass of water and reluctantly took a sip before looking at his phone again.
There was a refund notification on the display.
He opened it to find it was the fifty thousand yuan he had transferred to Aunt Cagwin.
Aunt Cagwin had refused it and sent it back to him.
There was also a ssage from Aunt Cagwin below, roughly saying she had already troubled him enough, and how could she accept his money.
Staring at the ssage on the phone, Jeff Quinlan’s intuition told him that with Aunt Cagwin’s personality, she would never tell Nathalie about Freddy Cagwin’s deeply complicated situation and drag Nathalie into it. That is to say, Nathalie’s act of going after Jecksen Wilmar was purely her own doing, and Aunt Cagwin might not even know that Nathalie had gotten involved because of her and hit Jecksen Wilmar!
Jeff Quinlan massaged his temples, feeling an inexplicable headache. He was just a businessman with limited connections. He couldn’t handle such matters even at the height of his success, let alone now that he had fallen on hard tis.
He thought about going to find Emilia Sullivan and asking her to speak to Myles Sullivan for a favor.
But he felt that asking Emilia Sullivan to plead on behalf of Nathalie was unreliable; Emilia Sullivan would definitely not help. He thought back and forth and decided to call Mr. Vinson again.
"Do one last favor, help find out Audrick Zachmann’s phone number."
