Before Nathalie Quinlan resorted to violence, she hadn’t given much thought to the relationship between Jecksen Wilmar and Ivy Wilmar. It was a mont of surprise when she suddenly saw Ivy, whom she hadn’t seen in a long ti.
After the surprise, she quietly listened to Ivy’s accusations and then, when Ivy questioned her, Nathalie looked up; her deep, dark eyes locked with Ivy’s as she set her phone on the table and said with a hoarse voice, "...Then I’ll apologize."
"Apologize?" Ivy was taken aback, and judging by Nathalie’s defiant deanor, she didn’t seem like soone who was about to apologize.
An unbelievable thought crossed Ivy’s mind, and she gazed in astonishnt at the girl sitting before her, reduced to a prisoner at the rcy of her accusers.
"You say apologize, but who’s apologizing to whom? Are you apologizing to Jecksen, or are you expecting Jecksen to apologize to you?"
Why did Ivy get the impression that, given Nathalie’s attitude, the latter was more likely?
Ivy couldn’t control the anger welling up within her, and her normally well-maintained face almost twisted with rage.
"You beat Jecksen and now you want him to apologize to you? Huh?"
She wanted to laugh but couldn’t; her facial muscles twitched, which made her expression seem more like a grimace than a smile, her complexion looking terrible as she glared at Nathalie. "You must think that because you’ve found your birth parents, your dad and your grandfather can protect you, letting you run rampant in McKinney with no one to discipline you."
Isn’t that Mr. Cadwell outside, the one whose brains were squashed by the door, still trying to cover up her behavior to this minute? It’s nothing but the Zachmann Family pulling strings from behind.
Ivy’s gaze was icy cold, and she spoke with extre indifference, "You’ve clearly made a mistake this ti; you’ve ssed with the wrong person, and nobody can save you."
She scoffed, "You probably don’t know yet, but you’ve been expelled from school. Even if Jecksen’s injury is ultimately categorized as a minor one, you still won’t be able to take the college entrance exam. I’m only going to ask you once: why did you hit Jecksen? Just for Freddy Cagwin? You’re indeed like Ghania said, always ddling in others’ affairs. Freddy Cagwin ans nothing to you, and you’re unrelated, but you had to put yourself forward for him. Now, look what happened. You can both miss out on going to college. Is this the result you wanted?"
Her words were laced with unmistakable irony.
However, Nathalie didn’t so much as twitch an eyebrow, crossed her long legs on the edge of the desk with calm disdain. Her legs were long and, when she straightened them slightly, they appeared even longer and straighter under her jeans—slim and symtrical, exuding a sense of strength.
Faced with Ivy’s interrogation, she couldn’t even bother to lift her eyelids, her expression growing colder by the second, losing the initial warmth she showed at the sight of Ivy.
She counter-questioned, "Mrs. Wilmar, did you ask him what he did to Freddy before you ca here?"
"What he did to Freddy?" Ivy frowned, not taking this so-called Freddy seriously, exuding an air of superiority, and without thinking, she said, "Even if Jecksen did sothing to your classmate, you shouldn’t have resorted to violence!"
"Alright," Nathalie got the ssage and raised her hand, lifting her eyes to look at Ivy. She simply said, "Have Jecksen apologize to Freddy, and also retract the false confession that Freddy was forced to sign. Then this matter can be considered even. For your sake, Mrs. Wilmar, I can let him off just this once."
"?"
"Are you joking with ?"
Ivy found it laughable, but as their eyes t, she saw only earnestness in the other’s gaze, not a trace of jest.
Nathalie reined in the wildness in her eyes, hands in pockets, coldly stating, "I’m serious. Consider it."
Ivy Wilmar: "..."
She had sent Jecksen to the hospital, and he was still admitted, likely to be bedridden for a substantial ti. She hadn’t even started to seek Nathalie out for trouble, and there she was, saying let Jecksen apologize to so guy like Freddy and call it quits? Even-Steven?
