Nathalie Quinlan had just arrived at the hospital and had just stepped out of the taxi.
It was cold, so she wore a coat over her sweater and kept her hat on, its brim pulled so low that only a sharp chin was visible, her contours both coldly sculpted and alluring.
In her hand, she carried an insulated food container.
She made her way into the hospital with ease, traversing the long corridors, then taking the elevator up to the Orchid Inpatient Unit on the 8th floor.
This entire level was VIP wards.
Much nicer than Uncle Cagwin’s ward on the 6th floor.
She didn’t need to look for which ward Amadeus Yancey was in, her gaze lifted under the brim of her hat and she imdiately noticed the second ward inside seed unusually bustling, with visitors coming and going.
With a pursed lip, she moved towards that ward with the insulated container in hand—
Before entering, she heard Wallace Radcliff’s loud voice outside talking to Amadeus Yancey and ntioning her na.
"Amadeus, do you have any idea what Ms. Quinlan’s background really is?"
"Hmm?" The man’s voice was low and seductive, even a simple nasal sound seed flirtatious.
Nathalie’s hand rested on the door handle, but she didn’t push it open right away.
Wallace’s voice picked up again from inside.
"I’ve looked into her information, she’s always been studying in McKinney. Before transferring to No. 1 Middle School, her grades were diocre, nothing to complain about but not outstanding either. She barely had a chance at a third-tier university."
"Results after transferring to No. 1 Middle School were like a rocket, soaring up so fast. Not only did she get into the best A class of the school, but she also took first place in the Tsinghua University Joint Entrance Exam, and with such scores, I always feel like she’s hiding many secrets."
It didn’t surprise Nathalie in the slightest that Wallace would be suspicious of her.
The day she decided to stand out and help, she had anticipated that soone would look into her afterwards, so she had already cleared all her online traces the previous night.
What Wallace could look into was only what happened after she transferred to McKinney No. 1 Middle School; her life before that was glossed over.
Utterly ordinary.
It seed Wallace was not satisfied with what he ’discovered’.
"She’s a high school student who never had systematic coding education, yet her coding skills are even better than those technicians under . Tch, no matter how I think about it after I go back, it doesn’t make sense! They are all top IT talents in the country, rank as technical backbones outside, and she, just a girl, crushed a dozen of my subordinates. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I would never believe it."
Alfred Garland’s leisurely voice rang from inside, defending her, "Mr. Radcliff, you’re overthinking! Why so many whys? So people are just born smarter than ordinary people and learn things faster. Ms. Quinlan... before she was adopted by the Quinlan family, where everyone favored her sister, standing out would only have made her more of a target for them, that’s why she was more low-key and never showed off her talents. After she found out that those people were not her blood relatives, and she found her biological father, acknowledged her ancestry and returned to her family, she was naturally more relaxed and didn’t need to hide anymore, which is why her performance improved."
"What about programming, then? How do you explain her computer skills?" Wallace persisted in his argunt, clearly unconvinced.
Alfred replied light-heartedly, "She read books."
"Can’t self-study be enough? There are so many programming tutorials online, and bookstores carry specialized programming books. Maybe Ms. Quinlan took an interest in computers, bought so books, and learned on her own online."
