The black sedan stopped outside The Ninth Institute.
"We’ve arrived, Mr. Bonette."
Brian Bonette looked out the car window at the scenery, a white research institute standing quietly there. He turned his head back and saw Mario Cagwin still enthusiastically explaining iris technology.
Raising his hand and pressing his brow, he smiled and said to the girl who was nestled there, playing with her phone with droopy eyes, "Nathalie, we’re here at The Ninth Institute."
"...Iris recognition technology is now being used not only in access control systems, but I heard it’s going to be applied to computers and phones soon. In the future, our phones won’t need fingerprint verification; just by looking into the cara for a few seconds, they will unlock."
Mario Cagwin continued to hype up how amazing the iris technology was!
And how brilliant Phoebe Hoffman, the inventor of this research result, was!
Nathalie Quinlan rubbed her ears, which felt swollen from his droning on. Upon hearing the remark, she put away her phone, looked past him towards Brian Bonette, and asked, "Are we there?"
"Yes, we’ve arrived."
All the way there, Brian could hear Mario’s ceaseless chatter but didn’t stop him because the advent of iris technology made up for The Ninth Institute’s shortcomings in the IT hacker area and was also a feat worth bragging about for The Ninth Institute.
He gave Nathalie a slight smile and suggested, "Shall we go down and take a look?"
Nathalie was only too glad to pull open the car door and get out first.
As the fresh air outside brushed by, Nathalie felt the incessant noise by her ears finally subsided. She dug at her ears, and the furrow in her brow gradually eased.

The car carrying Phoebe Hoffman and Wallace Radcliff followed them the entire way, stopping as soon as they arrived.
Wallace Radcliff got out of the car first, greeting Nathalie Quinlan: "Miss Quinlan."
The weather in December in Beijing was much colder than in McKinney. Nathalie was only wearing a hooded sweatshirt with a thin cardigan over it, feeling chilly as the wind blew through. She lazily pulled up the hood, casting her dark eyes towards the burly man, and politely nodded in acknowledgent.

He wasn’t bothered by Nathalie’s casual attitude, understanding that she was the kind of person who was rather indifferent to those she was not familiar with. He strode over with a smile plastered on his face, "Miss Quinlan, we just looked at the USB flash drive you gave in the car, and I’m very curious, how exactly did you solve that source code problem?"
The source code for the autonomous driving technology had an error, and Phoebe Hoffman’s group had always been unable to solve this dilemma; they’d even sought help from their group’s Xavier Rabenstein.
He was there too, had seen the problematic source code Phoebe Hoffman had, and even tried to fix it himself, but to no avail, failing to address the vulnerability.
He simply couldn’t comprehend how Nathalie, a young girl without any systematic computer training, could be so incredible!
Nathalie lifted the corners of her eyes, just as she saw Phoebe Hoffman getting out of the car with a long face and walking towards them.
With a deadpan expression, she arched an eyebrow and answered nonchalantly, "I didn’t do much, just took a look. Maybe I was just lucky."
Disappointed but clear in his heart, Wallace said, "Miss Quinlan, you’re too modest. Programming isn’t sothing based on luck; it’s all about personal skills, and I’m impressed. If there’s anything you need help with in the future, as long as I can assist, don’t hesitate to ask ."
"Anyway, I still owe you a favor from last ti. You didn’t make swallow a computer whole, and as a grown man, I can’t really pretend to be ignorant..." He laughed a bit, scratching the back of his head, genuinely sincere, "Miss Quinlan, I still need to apologize for what happened before... I’m really sorry."
