On the eighth floor VIP hospital room, Edric Yancey was hunched over the bed, staring intently at the small bottle on the pillow, his beautiful eyes unblinking, his upturned eyelashes thick and curled like little fans.
Inside that cherished transparent bottle, there was a white sugar pill, the one he had been goofily watching all day long.
From ti to ti, he would pick it up, take out the small sugar pill to look at it for a while, and then, unable to bring himself to eat it, he’d silently put it back.
In his heart, he counted the ti, calculating when Sister Nathalie would co next.
Almost an entire day had passed and she hadn’t co.
Edric Yancey turned over and sat up, his porcelain-like small face tightened into a frown, eyebrows knotted as he carefully recalled his own behavior that day.
It seed not good enough.
His eyes darkened; he picked up the small bottle, and his mood plumted, anxiously wondering if it was because he wasn’t good enough that Nathalie didn’t want to co to see him today?
Then the door handle clicked, and he turned his head to see his uncle Alfred, holding Nathalie as they entered.
Edric Yancey almost sprung out of the bed, his self-loathing whisked away, his beautiful cat-like eyes sparkling, imdiately bursting into a big smile, uncontrollably excited as he called out with a crisp voice, "Sister!"
Amadeus Yancey’s eyebrows creased; with one glance at him, he said softly, "Lower your voice."
He carried Nathalie in and said to the child on the bed, "She is exhausted, Edric. Would you give up your bed to let her sleep a while?"
Nathalie, massaging her temples with a hoarse voice, struggled to get down, "No need, I don’t have to sleep, just let sit on the sofa to rest a bit."
Amadeus narrowed his eyes, not answering, but looking toward Edric instead, his low magnetic voice said, "She just had surgery and stood for four hours."
Clearly, his words were ant for Edric.
Alfred Garland was waiting at the door, thinking, would the young master really not want to give up his bed?
Alas, the young master always had a strong sense of territory since he was young; Amadeus’s request was quite demanding.
He anxiously peeped inside, ready to go out and prepare another room at any mont.
He wasn’t wrong; Edric did hesitate for a mont. But it was only a mont, and then he nodded in agreent, "Okay."
Then he deftly picked up his belongings and got off the bed. After getting down, he even considerately straightened the ssy quilt on the bed for Nathalie.
Edric’s delicate little face turned a light shade of pink, shy as if embarrassed, hesitantly stood by the bed, fidgeting with his fingers as he said to Nathalie, "Sister, I, I didn’t know you were coming..."
If he had known earlier, he would have had his uncle change the sheets and even the pillows on the bed should be the best; they are more comfortable to sleep on.
A flicker of regret passed through Edric’s watery eyes. After thinking for a bit, he pursed his lips and handed Nathalie his most cherished toy bunny, "I like it best when I sleep; it’s very well-behaved and can protect you, Sister."
Amadeus knew about his toy bunny; it was a birthday gift he bought him on his first birthday. The little guy usually cherished it too much, never willing to share it with anyone.
It seed that he really liked Nathalie very much.
He bent down to set the person in his arms down, helped her take off her shoes, pulled up the quilt, and let his eyelids hang low, "Just sleep here in Edric´s room for a while, we can go back later in the evening."
Nathalie, forcefully ushered into bed and covered with a quilt, felt restless with several pairs of eyes staring at her.
Amadeus placed his hand on her forehead and suddenly covered her eyes, commanding, "Sleep now. You need to rest right now, don’t think about anything, we can talk about any issues after you’ve rested."
