Even after Audrick Zachmann secured the Lizard’s Tail virus cure from Nathalie Quinlan, he treated her as an idol, with warmth like the spring breeze, none of the initial skepticism and scorn... Pure, unadulterated admiration!
"Ms. Quinlan might have found it by herself, that phone could belong to one of the hooligans. The police haven’t searched what those people were carrying yet, but since Audrick says Ms. Quinlan has an unfamiliar phone, it must be one of the hooligans’ phones.
Ms. Quinlan, fighting seven against one, not only knocked them down but also got a phone. He didn’t even know what to say.
Audrick was more interested in figuring out what was going on with Phoebe Hoffman. He turned his head and asked Amadeus Yancey, "Amadeus, why did Phoebe Hoffman want to trap Nathalie with hooligans? Nathalie isn’t even close to her. Isn’t she crazy doing this? The high school exams are coming up, and even though Nathalie is already set for Tsinghua University, she still has to take the exams. What deep grudge does she have against Nathalie to warrant such action? What exactly is going on!"
While he was asking that, Amadeus Yancey’s phone suddenly lit up. He put down his tea cup with a thud on the table and glanced at the caller ID. He then looked up in Audrick’s direction, visibly annoyed, his lips pressed tightly before answering the call.
"Hello?"
Audrick found his glance puzzling and touched his head, unable to understand why Amadeus would look at him while picking up a phone call. But with Amadeus on the phone, Audrick, despite having a belly full of questions, had to hold back. He decided to pull Alfred Garland aside instead of starting with Amadeus, hoping to get so information out of Alfred...

Amadeus was left alone in the living room. He flicked his phone, leaning against the back of the sofa with one long leg casually draped over the tea table, looking both lazy and dejected. While on the call, he reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes.
Just as he was about to take one from the open packet, he noticed the setting and forcefully suppressed his impulse to smoke. He closed the pack, crushed it, and tossed it into the nearby trash can.
Then he picked up the mint candy from the table, opened it, and poured one out.
The taste of mint candy was just like that—neither salty nor bland, sowhat sharp. He furrowed his brows and leaned back on the sofa again, becoming increasingly impatient and irritable.
"Did you need sothing?"
On the other end of the phone,
Caryn Zachmann returned to her room and hesitated for a long ti, unable to get over Nathalie blocking her. Under a mont of heated impulse, she made the call.
As soon as the call connected, her feverish mind cooled down quickly. Hearing his hoarse and sowhat deep voice, she was already feeling a tinge of regret. After all, she and Phoebe Hoffman had only t a few tis and weren’t that close. She didn’t need to involve herself so deeply in Phoebe’s affairs.
She gripped the phone tightly, at a loss for words for a mont, but since she’d already made the call, she had to speak.
After a brief pause, Caryn Zachmann still wanted to assert herself, and said softly, "It’s nothing much..."
"If it’s nothing, I’m hanging up."
The man’s deep voice was casual, seemingly indifferent, but if you listened carefully, it was quite dismissive.
Caryn Zachmann’s fingers tensed around the phone, she hurriedly said, "Wait, I...I have sothing."
"What is it?"
