Now reading: Chapter 993: This Is So Unlike Song Ci from The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant, a Historical novel by Yan Xiaomo.

Song Ci’s words were eloquent and pleasant to hear, and none of the Madams present with their daughters felt displeased.

This Madam of the Song Family seed quite reasonable; despite her wealth, she spoke pleasantly, and her temperant was sowhat different from before.

Since Pri Minister Song’s promotion, the Song Family had ascended to a higher status, continually gaining favor. Whether it was a daughter or a son, many families were seeking connections with them.

Previously, people had worn down the threshold of the Song Family, yet there had been no talk of marriage alliances. Observing Song Ci’s behavior now, could it be that the Song Family was truly beginning to seek spouses for their grandsons?

Thinking of the Song Family’s young n, each one outstanding, with their family background, their futures wouldn’t be a source of worry. Inevitably, the Madams present entertained more calculations in their hearts.

Princess Anping found it sowhat surprising as she listened to Song Ci continuously speak kind words and extend an olive branch, prompting her to cast several additional glances at Song Ci.

Given her usual temperant, she would have directly slapped back at such shaless trouble-making, so why was she repeatedly extending olive branches to the Ji Family?

This was very unlike Song Ci!

Princess Anping, holding her tea, caught Song Ci’s gaze out of the corner of her eye, deliberately or inadvertently falling on the Wen Madam and her daughter, which left her slightly surprised.

Could it be she had taken a liking to Miss Wen?

If so, things would beco a bit difficult, as Madam Wen had tested her a few tis, inquiring about Zhao’er’s marriage.

Princess Anping found herself preoccupied with more thoughts.

If Song Ci knew what Princess Anping was thinking, she might emphatically declare her innocence. She was a person who valued civility and etiquette, and would never retaliate without considering the circumstances.

Indeed, considering the circumstances.

Song Ci was now able to endure the Ji family’s provocations repeatedly, naturally for the sake of her grandsons.

Since her savvy son had already ntioned a candidate for a grandson’s wife, and this candidate happened to be present, to give the Song Family face and her grandsons face, Song Ci naturally had to exercise so restraint, leaving a good impression.

Of course, this was within the limits of what she could endure. If the other party truly overstepped her bounds, to hell with it, she would no longer endure and confront directly!

Princess Consort Ji did not receive a pleasant face, and instead, people lavished praise upon Song Ci, causing her to let out a heavy snort and remark, "It seems my hopes of being a matchmaker are dashed."

Madam Ji grew sowhat anxious, thinking, ’If you want, you can very well arrange matches for your two grandnieces.’

She wanted to speak several tis but was deterred by the warning glares from Princess Consort Ji, leaving her unable to act rashly. She could only lean on Madam Guan and Madam Wen, showering them with complints, all of which were subtly parried back by the two, leaving her sowhat stifled.

Princess Consort Min discreetly glanced at the Ji family mbers, then looked at Song Ci, sighing inwardly.

The difference between being educated and not seems to co down to this; no wonder they could nurture not just one but two scholars and even a Pri Minister of the current dynasty.

Princess Anping told the girls to guess lantern riddles. They were at the courtyard gallery, with open windows allowing views of the variously shaped lanterns in the garden, which could be pointed at and taken down for guessing.

The young girls, fearing the adults might again talk about embarrassing topics, quickly moved outside, leaving the adults to converse freely inside.

Princess Anping directly took Song Ci to a lotus lamp and quietly inquired, "I’ve noticed your gaze circling around Miss Wen. Could it be you’ve taken a liking to this girl?"

Song Ci was surprised: "No, am I that obvious?"

Princess Anping’s heart grew slightly heavier.
