Leon blinked at Myra, confused.

"Hm? What? You can help? How exactly?"

Myra straightened her posture a little and placed her hand on her chest with a calm expression.

"I possess a physical amplification spell," she said. "I can run faster than any normal human can."

’A skill? What a liar,’ Leon thought dryly.

He knew damn well that wasn’t a spell. That was, in reality, her Sanguine trait.

But he didn’t call her out; he just played along.

"That’s good and all, but only you have that spell, while I don’t. How are we both supposed to arrive on ti then?"

Myra smiled at him, and that smile was a little too confident.

"Leave that to , young master."

Leon raised a brow.

"That doesn’t sound reassuring."

Leon was ready to climb on her back. A little pathetic, but yeah, that’s the only option he had in hand.

Before he could question her further, Myra stepped closer, resting one hand on his shoulder.

"What are you—Huh?"

In one swift motion, she flipped his body around, threw him up, and caught him in her arms.

"Umm... what... are you doing?" Leon said, deadpan.

Myra glanced down at him; her face was as calm as always.

"You’ve gained weight, young master."

"..."

Leon couldn’t believe she just said that.

Of all the ways to travel... a princess carry? Really?

Now Leon regretted even asking her.

"Which direction?" she asked, tightening her grip around his waist slightly as if she was used to carrying him.

Leon stared up at her chin and sighed in defeat.

’Well, that’s the only option I’ve got.’

"Two o’clock," he said flatly.

Myra’s lips curved slightly, and before Leon could brace himself, she crouched down like a spring ready to launch.

As he said those words, Leon looked closely at her facial features. Her eyes, which were dull red, were now glowing with intense red, and two of her front teeth had grown longer.

She tried to cover it up as soon as they took form, but Leon caught on before that happened.

’So that’s her Sanguine form?’

Hibuki’s report was spot on. She was indeed a Sanguine. Or more precisely, a half Sanguine.

"Hold on tight," she added casually.

And then she shot forward like a bullet.

BAAANG—!

Maybe he was imagining things, but Leon was pretty sure he heard a loud bang the mont Myra took off.

Her movents were sharp and precise. She weaved through the forest, dodging tree trunks and thick roots with pinpoint accuracy, not losing speed for even a second.

Thanks to the glasses, Leon could actually keep his eyes open despite the wind slamming against his face.

"Take a sharp left," Leon instructed.

"Understood," she replied, shifting her footing mid-sprint without breaking rhythm.

Leon kept [Mana Sense] active the entire ti, guiding her through turns and narrow gaps.

With Myra’s speed, they covered the distance in just under an hour.

Myra slowed to a stop, the wind finally calming around Leon’s face.

"Is this the place?" she asked, glancing down at her master still cradled in her arms.

"Yeah," Leon nodded.

Silence.

"..."

"..."

They both stared at each other for a mont.

"Put down," Leon said flatly.

"As you wish, young master," she replied, lowering him to the ground with surprising care.

Leon sighed and pinched his temples as soon as his feet touched solid ground.

’Alright, this is getting annoying. Do I have to give her every single command? Alright, command is fine, but what’s with that robotic reply every ti?’

Exactly what did Veronica drill into this girl’s head?

Fixing his clothes as Myra adjusted hers, Leon turned his gaze forward.

They were still surrounded by the sa forest, the sa thick trees, but this ti there were no hollow entrances around. Instead, ahead of them lay a half-subrged cave, its surface covered with moss and vines.

"..."

What stood out was the entrance.

A wooden door blocked the cave, loosely attached to its crooked fra with a rusted lock hanging weakly from it. One glance was enough to tell it was man-made. And probably done by an amateur.

Leon already knew who built it. The sa person who once lived here.

Lumina Elizabeth Dare.

Yes, she had lived in this forest, inside this cave, in the middle of the abandoned city.

"What am I looking at?" Myra asked as she walked up next to him. "Is that a house?"

Leon stepped closer to the door.

"Looks like it."

Clang.

It didn’t budge when he pushed it.

Clang—!

He pushed harder, but it was the sa result.

"It’s jamd," Leon muttered. "Must be because of moisture or broken hinges."

"Let handle it."

Myra ca forward, lifted her skirt slightly, and approached the door. Then she kicked it.

Baaam!

The door flew inward, and the entire fra collapsed along with it.

"..."

Myra said nothing and stepped aside.

’She’s handy,’ Leon thought.

Mice and insects scattered from the dark as the inside lit up with the faint light leaking in.

Leon and Myra, unbothered by the sight, stepped inside.

As soon as Leon stepped inside, he saw what was once a cozy place.

Broken stone chairs, a cracked wooden table, a single stool, a leaf-cushioned couch, and a few steel plates scattered around.

It was small, but enough for one person.

Leon stood at the entrance for a few seconds. His throat ached and his vision blurred.

He pictured Lumina sitting there, serving wild boar soup on that small table all to herself.

"How could soone live in such a place?" Myra’s voice snapped him out of it.

She stood beside him, her eyes scanning the room.

From the furniture and clothes, it was clear this was a ho for one person.

Probably a woman.

"She must have been strong," she said.

Leon looked at her briefly.

"Let’s go."

Myra blinked at his face but said nothing.

For so reason, Leon noticed that Myra’s eyes widened slightly as she looked at his face, but he didn’t linger on it.

Leon walked ahead carefully, avoiding the scattered pieces on the floor.

The next room was smaller.

Dead rats and birds covered the ground like before, and the sll burned his lungs. It was more intense.

In the ga, Ethan never went through this. They had skipped it.

The developers made this scene simple; he had spawned right in front of the Moonblade, grabbed it, and left. But this wasn’t a ga anymore.

But this is not a ga.

On the wall hung old weapons and tools. In the center was a white scabbard with a white hilt.

Leon went straight to it and grabbed it.

The stench was worse now. He wanted to get out right now, just then—

"Young master..."

A stunned voice ca from behind him, laced with a weird mixture of terror and calmness.

Leon turned and saw Myra pressing on her nose; her eyes were fixed on sothing to his right.

"What?" he asked.

She pointed. "Look at the bed."

"The bed?"

Leon turned to the right.

A single wooden bed stood in the corner, covered by a torn white curtain, which he hadn’t noticed before entering this place.

His gaze fell on the top of the bed. Sothing was lying there.

’A dry log?’ Leon thought as he stepped closer.

The mont he got a clear view, the Moonblade slipped from his hand and hit the ground.

CLANG–!

His heartbeat dropped.

It was a skeleton.

A decayed skeleton was lying on the bed.

Leon froze.

His mind moved on its own, going through the bone structure and anatomy.

It was human and a female structure.

It was no rocket science to figure out who that skeleton belonged to.

"Huh?"

The word slipped out before he realized.
