"Phew..."

Closing the door behind him, Leon entered his dorm room.

"Hm, young master? You finished this early."

Myra asked him, holding a tray with two cups and a jar placed on top.

"Myra? What are you doing here?" Leon tilted his head, as he encountered her near her door. She looked like she was about to leave.

Myra nodded, "Yes, I brewed coffee for you and Miss Alice, and was about to visit your club. But..."

Leon sighed ruffling his head. "Oh right, you told before... I am done actually, you can leave the tray here, and take so rest."

"That’s earlier than I thought." Myra looked impressed, "did Miss Alice return as well?"

Leon felt sothing when she called her.

"No, she was still in the clubroom... I guess...."

He was not really sure, but knowing about Alice, she must be thinking about what he did to her.

"Huh? You left her alone?" Myra blinked, perplexed.

She narrowed her eyes at him, and by her look, Leon could say she was a bit disappointed.

"Yeah," Leon nodded, he removed his boots, and passed Myra, "I was already finished so there’s no point in staying there anyways."

As he said this, Myra suddenly turned to him, and asked in a rather worried tone.

"Did you two have a fight?"

This made Leon stop.

"What?" He answered confusedly. "How did you reach this conclusion?"

Myra looked at him for a mont longer.

"That’s because you sound different," she said.

Leon frowned slightly. "Different?"

He tilted his head. "What do you an I sound different? I always talk this way."

Myra shook her head.

"No. I an, yes, you do." She paused, choosing her words carefully. "But when you talk about Miss Alice, you always sound like you genuinely care for her. This is the first ti I’ve heard you like this."

Leon frowned deeper.

"Huh? Really? No way." He waved his hand dismissively. "I don’t really care for her."

There was a pause.

"Well," he added after a brief hesitation, "not much."

Myra did not respond imdiately.

Leon knew what he had done.

He had said sothing that forced Alice to face sothing she had buried for years. Sothing she never wanted to look at again. It was harsh in a way.

But necessary.

If she continued to drown herself in denial, then what right did Leon have to stay comfortable about it? If she dwelled in the past, then so would he.

Myra stared at him silently. That look told him everything.

She was not buying it.

"...Alright," she said at last. "As you say."

She turned around to leave, then stopped after taking a few steps. Turning her head slightly, she asked, "Should I leave the tray here? I already made them."

Leon glanced at the tray.

"Yeah," he replied. "Leave them."

"Alright."

Myra placed the tray neatly on his table and began walking toward the door.

Leon watched her back.

For a mont, Alice’s face flashed through his mind.

Earlier that day. During the duel, when she got hurt. When she grabbed his wrist without thinking and pulled him along with her.

She would never have done sothing like that in the ga.

’Fuck. What is all this...’

Leon cursed quietly in his mind.

"Myra," he called out suddenly.

She stopped and turned around.

"On second thought," Leon said, rubbing the back of his neck, "just bring them to Alice. She looked tired earlier."

Myra’s expression changed instantly.

The disappointnt on her face vanished, replaced by sothing warm.

"Mhm," she nodded cheerfully. "As you say."

She picked the tray back up and walked out of the room.

Leon stared at the closed door.

"...Wait," he muttered to himself. He imagined it for a second.

"...Is she really going to carry that all the way?"

[Next Morning]

[Conference Room, 4th Floor, East Cabin, Eclipse Institute]

It was 11 AM right now.

The conference room was too quiet, as the presentation would begin at 11:30.

Leon pushed the door open and stepped inside.

Four people were already seated there.

"Oh?" A familiar voice spoke up. "You’re presenting today as well?"

Leon turned his head.

It was Clara Everstone. President of Leon’s club Luntara, the fifth Princess of the rlin Kingdom, and his senior.

Her violet eyes briefly scanned him before shifting toward the empty seats near the others.

"Yes," Leon replied. "I finished my paper recently, so I decided to present today."

Clara nodded once.

"Oh, that’s nice. Madam Esther was worried you would slack off." She smiled faintly. "I guess she’ll be relieved by this."

"Ah." Leon froze for a mont.

Only then did he realize sothing.

He had never actually inford Esther about his research topic. Or that he was presenting today.

’I guess she’ll find out in an hour or so.’

Leon took a few steps forward, his eyes moving toward the closed door at the far end of the room.

Alice was not here.

That ant she must be presenting right now.

"Alice had already prepared hers..." Leon muttered without thinking.

Clara glanced at him. "Alice?"

Leon looked at her.

"She’s not here yet," Clara said. "It’s Henry inside right now."

"Huh?" Leon’s brows knit together.

Clara nodded.

"Yes. I sent my maid to look for her. Her turn is next after Henry." She paused. "I just hope she makes it."

She studied Leon’s face carefully. "Did sothing happen to her? Was she sick?"

Leon shook his head. "Not that I know of."

"Hm." Clara humd softly. "Weird. Even you don’t know."

She tilted her head slightly. "I thought you would."

Leon frowned. "Why would she tell ?"

Clara laughed lightly. "Oh co on. You two are kind of famous."

Leon stiffened. "What?"

"You know," she continued casually and sneering lightly, "those red roses, the girls I know of were all using you as an example when talking to their boyfriends."

Leon did not like that. Not even a little.

Clara waved her hand.

"Anyway. You can relax for now. You can take her slot if you want, that will give her so more ti."

Leon hesitated for a second, then nodded.

"Alright."

He took the seat near the wall, resting his back against it.

"Haaah..."

From the other side of the door, Henry’s voice could be heard faintly.

Leon waited for his turn.

’Where is she...?’

Creak!

Then the door opened.

Leon turned his head instantly to it.

Alice walked in from outside.

Her eyes looked exhausted, as if she had not slept at all.. She held a stack of papers in her arms, so were ssy and uneven.

With Leon’s perception and with the help of his glasses, he noticed it imdiately.

So of the pages were damp.

"Oh, Alice! You’re here!" Clara said brightly, walking toward her.

Leon did not look away.

’I don’t think, I went too far yesterday...’

He would not have been surprised if she ignored him for weeks.

Alice nodded briefly at Clara. "Good Morning. I am here, Miss Clara. Sorry, I was late.

She walked past her after a light chat.

Leon was looking at her. Her eyes never t his.

But, in the next second, she walked past every available seat.

And sat, right beside Leon.

"...?!"

Leon was genuinely stunned.

He turned his head slightly.

Her hair was untidy. Her clothes looked like she had not changed since yesterday. And the corners of her eyes were red.

Their eyes t.

"..."

"..."

They stared for a few seconds.

"Hello—keuk!" Leon bit his tongue.

Because just now, Alice had stomped on his foot, hardly.

"Hey, why—" Leon stopped.

Her eyes were moist when she looked at him. She was biting her lip, holding sothing back.

"..."

He did not pull away.

He let her keep her foot there.

It hurt like hell, because Alice was applying too much force.

No one noticed them.

[Five minutes passed.]

She was still stepping on him.

Leon leaned slightly closer and whispered, "Hey, Alice. My foot. Could you—"

"Endure," she spat quietly.

Leon stiffened.

What the hell was this scenario?

And why did he feel like he deserved it?

"Have you not slept?" Leon finally asked in a low voice.

Stomp!

The pressure on his foot intensified.

Leon winced but did not move.

He turned his head slightly and looked at her.

Before he could say anything else, Alice spoke.

"You know, Leon," she whispered. "I hate you for last night."

"Mhm, I know." Leon replied calmly.

"You know I didn’t like it, right?"

"Mhm."

"And you know I wanted to slap you yesterday."

"...You did?"

She clicked her tongue softly. And she stomped even harder.

"...!"

Leon let out a ruffled breath. "That explains a lot about this situation I am in right now."

Alice’s eyes flickered.

"But... you are mistaken about sothing." she continued, her voice lowering even more. "Do you know what I saw in your eyes last night?"

Leon did not answer.

She stared straight ahead. "You looked scared about sothing."

"...."

His heart jerked slightly.

Alice leaned closer, just enough for her words to reach only him.

"You can tell what you want," she whispered. "I’ve put my trust in you too."

Her voice hardened at the end.

"So don’t make regret it by doing sothing like yesterday ever again."

Each word echoed in Leon’s ears.

For a mont, he forgot about the pain in his foot.

He felt sothing else instead.

A quiet, uncontrollable twitch tugged at the corner of his lips.

"...Heh."

That’s more like it.

"Alice Nightson," a voice called out. "It’s your turn next."

Alice lifted her foot off him and stood up imdiately.

She did not look back.

Leon exhaled slowly as she walked toward the door.

"...Yeah," he muttered to himself. "I will be careful."
