[He speaks Galia so fluently! It’s hard to believe he’s only a four-year-old kid. Ian’s talent for languages is insane!]

[Celebrity kids are just built different. He’s mastered so many foreign languages at such a young age. This worthless corporate drone is crying in a corner.]

[I don’t buy it. This has to be a script directed by Naomi Kenway. Ian is so slow, how could he possibly know Galia? It’s impossible. Reality shows are all scripted. With enough money, you can do anything. That foreigner nad Vesla was probably just a hired actor. I’ve seen Naomi Kenway’s tricks before, and I don’t believe a word of this. But I’ll admit, her thods are a lot more sophisticated this ti!]

[Seriously? Is the person above kidding? As a student who studied abroad in Galia, I can testify that Ian’s pronunciation is incredibly authentic and standard. It’s definitely not sothing you can coach in just a few days. For those of you calling it a script, I suggest you go try learning Galia yourselves. Then you’ll realize just how amazing and impressive Ian’s authentic Galia is! He’s a confird genius!]

[I don’t get why so many people are being so malicious about a child. He has an excellent mory and a gift for languages. If that’s not a genius, then what is? Everyone keeps calling him dull, but couldn’t it just be that he doesn’t like to talk? A lot of highly intelligent kids are unconventional and don’t like to socialize.]

[I just have one thought: Naomi Kenway is so low-key. Ian’s Galia is this good, and she’s never ntioned it. If this were so other parent blogger, they would have bragged about it a hundred tis by now!]

[To the person above, don’t praise one person by putting another down. Our Rachel didn’t do anything wrong!]

[I can’t believe Renee Jennings still has fans. Didn’t a lot of people unfollow her...?]

...

Naomi Kenway was in charge of teaching first-grade math. A Chinese class was currently in session, so she and the equally free Margaret Jennings were invited to the principal’s office for tea to discuss so teaching plans.

Naomi Kenway just nodded along the entire ti without offering any opinions. After all, she was a complete amateur and knew nothing about teaching.

Margaret Jennings also understood the principle that the more you say, the more mistakes you can make, so she simply sat opposite the principal and listened as he spoke with great enthusiasm.

The principal noticed their reserved and cautious deanor, so he dropped the topic and switched to so casual small talk.

*

Renee Jennings had drawn first-grade Chinese. She was stunned the mont she entered the classroom; it was the first ti she had ever seen one so crude. Although it had been recently renovated, you could only barely call it bright and spacious.

There wasn’t even an air conditioner, just a fan on the ceiling. Renee Jennings felt hot after standing for only a short while.

A little boy walked up to the teacher’s platform. His dark cheeks were sunburnt to a rosy red, but his eyes seed to hold the stars.

"Teacher, you must be the new teacher, right? This is the howork we just collected."

Renee Jennings looked him over. "Are you the class monitor?"

"Yes."

Renee Jennings was about to take the papers when she noticed his hands were filthy, as if covered in a layer of dust. Her arm recoiled, and she subconsciously took a step back.

But her face still held a gentle smile. "Why don’t you go wash your hands?"

A few tactless children below the platform giggled, calling out sothing like "firewood boy."

A flash of embarrassnt crossed the little boy’s face. He quickly hid his hands behind his back and said in a rush, "I’m sorry, I was helping my grandpa move firewood this morning and didn’t have ti to wash my hands..."

He returned to his seat, mortified.

Renee Jennings just smiled. ’I don’t really believe him,’ she thought, acknowledging that kids these days were getting better and better at lying.

The dean of students, who had been watching from the doorway, walked in. She explained the little boy’s situation. His na was Sonny. His parents were migrant workers who might not even make it back for the New Year. He lived with his elderly grandfather and paralyzed grandmother. Before school, Sonny had to gather firewood for the family and fill the water vat...

Renee Jennings’s heart skipped a beat. She hurried to Sonny’s side to apologize. As she spoke, she kept glancing toward the caras, making sure they would capture her most sincere-looking posture.

Sonny’s face turned even redder as he repeatedly said it was okay.

Renee Jennings wore a white dress and had a gentle disposition, which naturally won over the children’s affection.

Jared Woods was sitting right next to Nathan Lynch. Jared reached out and poked Nathan. "Your mom is so gentle, just a little less than Aunt Kenway. I wish my mom could be this gentle..." he said, his expression full of longing.

A shiver of disgust ran through Nathan Lynch. He pointed to a distinct line scratched between their desks. "This is the dividing line. Don’t get so close to ."

"You!" Jared Woods whipped his head away. "Fine, be so high and mighty! You ignore , and I won’t bother talking to you either!"

Ian Shaw was sitting on Jared Woods’s other side. Jared propped his chin on his hand and poked Ian Shaw. "Ian, besides Galia, what other languages do you know?"

"Chinese."

"Ch— Of course I know Chinese! I an foreign languages!"

Ian Shaw held a pencil in his hand, doodling on a piece of paper without pause. He didn’t spare Jared Woods a single glance, only saying flatly, "The others are just so-so."

"Then how did your Galia get so good?" Jared Woods tugged on Ian Shaw’s sleeve. "Teach . I don’t want to be a good-for-nothing anymore."

"My Galia is just so-so."

Ian Shaw impatiently pulled his sleeve back.

"You call that ’so-so’?"

Jared Woods gulped. For the first ti in his life, he had a new understanding of the word "so-so."

"That’s not ’so-so’ at all! Please teach ! My mom says I’m really smart and a fast learner..."

Suddenly, Ian Shaw tapped Simon Sawyer, who was sitting in the row behind him, and asked to switch seats.

Simon Sawyer knew what was happening with just a glance. He was a little exasperated by these endless little squabbles, but he switched seats anyway.

Jared Woods was dumbfounded. He bit his lip and said gruffly, "Hmph, it’s not like I want to sit next to you anyway. You really think I like talking to you that much? Don’t be so con... con..." His face suddenly flushed red.

"Conceited," Nathan Lynch supplied.

"Right, don’t be so conceited... AH!"

He whipped his head around and glared at Carina Sanders. "Why did you poke with your pencil tip? That really hurts!"

Carina Sanders made a "zip it" gesture. "You’re so noisy. You’re disturbing everyone, and I can’t focus on my work..."

Renee Jennings caught sight of the commotion. She asked in a cold voice what was going on. Simon Sawyer stood up and said they were just discussing a problem.

Renee Jennings had no choice but to tell him to sit down.

Teaching from the first-grade textbook posed no difficulty for Renee Jennings. She walked around the classroom as she taught, holding the book.

Suddenly, she froze.
