The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show Chapter 278: Luke Lowell’s Live Connection
The village chief sighed. "Our village is quite remote. Shipping is a hassle and the costs are high, so most distributors aren’t willing to co out here to buy our waterlons. A lot of the farrs’ crops just end up rotting in the fields. It’s a difficult problem no matter how you look at it."
His brow was furrowed, an unshakable gloom hanging over him.
The tour guide picked up the thread. "As you can all see, the local waterlons are severely overstocked this year. A lot of the farrs’ hard work is about to go to waste. And our mission for today—"
"Is all about waterlons."
He held up his script, his expression serious. "Today’s mission is to help our farrs sell waterlons via a livestream. The person with the highest sales by six o’clock this evening will be our sales champion and will receive a special gift, prepared by our production team and the local villagers!"
The village chief clasped his hands together, his gratitude sincere. "Thank you all so much!"
Margaret Jennings hurried to stop him. She was a sentintal person by nature, and her heart ached to hear about the unsold waterlons. A family like Nigati’s had ten mu of waterlon fields; for all that to rot in the ground would be a terrible sha. All that ti and effort poured into the crop, wasted for nothing.
Ruby Preston added, "You’re being too kind, Village Chief. We’ll certainly do whatever we can to help."
The village chief nodded again and again, tears welling in his eyes as he thanked them profusely. "Thank you, thank you so much. We’re so grateful for your willingness to help..."
Chelsea Raines asked, "The sales champion gets a reward, but what about everyone else? There’s no punishnt if we don’t et a certain target, right?"
The tour guide shook his head. "No punishnt whatsoever."
Chelsea Raines let out a sigh of relief.
Renee Jennings snapped out of her daze. She walked over, took the village chief’s hand, and assured him, "I used to livestream all the ti, so I have a lot of experience. Don’t you worry, I’ll definitely help you solve this problem!"
The village chief nodded profusely. "Thank you..."
’Renee Jennings could barely suppress the smile spreading across her face. This was a golden opportunity! She’d known for a while that no matter how bad your reputation gets, doing enough charity work could win back a lot of public favor. Naomi Kenway was a perfect example. She used to be public enemy number one online, but ever since she was discovered doing charity, she had transford into a beloved, "positive energy" celebrity.’
’When Naomi Kenway’s popularity exploded a while back, Renee Jennings had wanted to copy her thods, but her bank account wouldn’t allow it. She didn’t have the money, but she *was* good at livestreaming. That was Renee Jennings’s original line of work, after all. She only started phasing it out after marrying Christina Lynch, limiting herself to posting a few family videos on social dia because Christina Lynch thought livestream selling was embarrassing.’
With that thought, Renee Jennings’s frustration vanished. Then, as if an idea had struck her, she made an excuse to step out, making sure to avoid the caras.
’Naomi Kenway racked her brain for ways to sell waterlons. She had zero experience with livestream selling. On the rare occasion she ca across a shopping host while scrolling through short-form videos, she’d watch for a second before swiping away. She rarely shopped online herself; if she wanted sothing, all she had to do was say a few words to her butler.’
Ruby Preston and Chelsea Raines both looked apprehensive. Who wouldn’t want a chance to stand out and earn so goodwill? The problem was, neither of them had any experience with livestream selling.
Chelsea Raines kept glancing around, starting to regret her early falling-out with Renee Jennings. ’If we were still on good terms,’ she thought, ’it would be easy to ask for a few pointers. But now that things are so tense, even saying hello is awkward.’
Compared to the other guests, Margaret Jennings looked much more relaxed. When Naomi Kenway asked, she learned that Margaret had been invited to a livestreaming studio as a special guest before.
Margaret Jennings scratched her head and smiled. "I was invited by a huge strear. They sold things incredibly fast. I picked up on one thing, but I don’t know if it’ll be useful. They were so eloquent. I just sat there in the studio and didn’t have to say a word. I’m not a smooth talker, so I’m still a little nervous just thinking about it now."
Naomi Kenway patted her shoulder. "Don’t be nervous, Pearl."
Ruby Preston added, "We should just do our best. But I sincerely hope we can help the villagers sell more of their lons. They grow them for a living. If the crop is left to rot in the fields, the lack of a harvest would have a huge impact on a family."
"Ms. Kenway, please co with us."
Naomi Kenway followed the staff mber to her designated livestreaming area. The setup was simple: just a table with two smartphones on it. Naomi sat down and saw that the other three guests were also getting settled at their own stations.
There was a small, high stool next to her, and Naomi lifted Ian onto it.
"When does this livestream start?"
The caraman glanced to the side. "Mr. Jennings had to step out and isn’t back yet. Could you please wait a mont, Ms. Kenway?"
Naomi Kenway nodded, unable to hold back a soft chuckle. ’Renee Jennings always has sothing to do at the most critical monts,’ she thought. ’I wonder what she’s plotting this ti.’
"Ms. Kenway, this is your first ti livestreaming, isn’t it? Here, let show you the basic functions, though you’ll barely need them. You just need to focus on talking later. I’ll be right here to assist you."
Naomi Kenway nodded. With her good mory and knack for learning, she understood everything after a single demonstration.
A staff mber ca over and placed a plump, round waterlon on the table in front of Naomi Kenway. It looked perfect for selling. Beside it was a plate of pre-cut slices; the bright red, tender fruit looked especially tempting on the white dish.
Naomi Kenway smiled. "Just looking at it is making my mouth water again."
The staffer smiled, picking up two slices of waterlon and handing one to Naomi and one to Ian.
"The stream hasn’t started yet. You and Ian can have a piece."
"Thank you." Naomi then patted the back of Ian’s head. "Ian, hurry and thank the lady."
"Thank you, miss."
"Oh, Ian, you’re so cute! You’re welco."
After finishing her waterlon, Naomi waited another two minutes before Renee Jennings finally sauntered in. She wore an expression of soone certain of victory. "Sorry to keep everyone waiting. My throat’s a bit scratchy, so please bear with ."
Naomi Kenway watched her, then asked casually, "A scratchy throat? Were you outside drinking water for twenty minutes?"
Renee Jennings had just sat down at her station. She froze for a second, then shot back, "Nina, what’s that supposed to an? Are you suggesting I was sneaking around doing sothing shady?"
"I didn’t say anything of the sort. Besides, why are you getting so defensive?" Naomi narrowed her eyes, her tone teasing. "Feeling a little flustered?"
Renee Jennings faltered for a mont, then huffed. "I’m not going to stoop to your level."
"Alright, everyone’s here, so let’s officially begin the mission!" the tour guide’s voice announced.
Naomi and Ian sat before the cara, watching as the viewer count in the backend started to climb.
One hundred, two thousand, five thousand, twenty thousand...
After that, the number grew much more slowly, the initial surge leveling off.
[AHHHHHH NINA’S LIVE!! IT’S REALLY HER!!]
[Where’s the link for the lons? Gotta support Nina’s stream!]
[Ian looks so serious sitting on his little stool, he’s so cute! Those big, round eyes are beautiful!]
[Nina, back up from the screen a little, your beauty is killing !]
