Anxiously, Lucy Sumrs jabbed Nathaniel’s arm. "Quick, apologize to Mrs. Shaw properly."

His face filled with remorse. "It was all because I listened to Renee Jennings’s nonsense. She has it out for Mrs. Shaw, so she put up to causing trouble. I... I wasn’t thinking straight!"

Gripping the steering wheel, Lucy Sumrs shot Nathaniel a complicated look.

When Nathaniel got ho, he flew into a rage, smashing everything he could get his hands on in the living room. He retained just enough sense, however, to destroy only the worthless decorative pieces. He wouldn’t dare lay a finger on the antique vases or calligraphy scrolls.

The living room filled with the sound of CRASHING and SMASHING. The maid, Jan, stood silently, not daring to utter a word for fear of getting caught in the crossfire.

After he was done, Nathaniel collapsed onto the sofa, panting. His hair was disheveled and slick with sweat; he looked like a complete ss.

"Damn you all! Damn you all to hell! Why does everyone take their anger out on ? Do you think I’m your fucking punching bag?! Animals! You’re all goddamn animals! Go to hell!!"

He scread the curses over and over.

"I’ll make you all pay... That’s right, I’ll make you pay..." His eyes were bloodshot as he roared, "Get a drink!"

Renee Jennings descended the stairs, her hand on the wooden banister. She was stunned to see the living room in complete disarray. She walked toward him. "Have you lost your mind, Nathaniel...?"

Nathaniel looked up at her and let out a sinister laugh.

A chill ran down Renee’s spine. Only then did she notice the clear, red handprint on Nathaniel’s face.

"Who hit you?"

"Shut your mouth, you bitch!"
