The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show Chapter 369 - 368: A Visit
"Okay."
Ethan Shaw raised the temperature in the room.
Despite several days of care, the scars on her back were still shocking to behold.
A cold glint flashed in his eyes. ’Prison is getting off too easy for Christina Lynch,’ he thought.
The ointnt was cool as it was spread on her back, but Ethan Shaw’s hands were searing hot. The alternating sensations made Naomi Kenway knit her brows.
"Did I hurt you?"
"No," Naomi Kenway said. "Just keep going."
Naomi Kenway could feel the gentle pressure from his long, tender strokes on her back. The injured areas were covered with newly ford skin, making them incredibly sensitive. Under his touch, it felt almost unbearable. She couldn’t help but urge him on, "Could you hurry up? My back is starting to itch."
Ethan Shaw humd a quiet assent, then asked, "Does the wound still hurt?"
The concern and ache in his voice always sent Naomi Kenway into a daze. When she snapped out of it, she answered a beat too late, "It doesn’t hurt anymore..."
After what felt like an eternity, the torturous application of ointnt was finally over.
Naomi Kenway was about to pull her clothes down when Ethan Shaw stopped her. "Wait, there’s one more ointnt I haven’t applied."
Naomi Kenway lowered her hands.
After screwing the cap back on the tube of ointnt, he turned to Naomi Kenway again, and his breath caught in his throat.
Even though he had applied the dicine several tis before, he still found it difficult to control his emotions.
He had never realized before that a person’s back could be so beautiful. Hers was slender but not overly thin, her fair skin the color of fresh snow.
Ethan Shaw’s breathing hitched.
The small of her back was graced with distinctly curved dimples, their shape so beautiful it made one want to reach out and trace them.
"Ethan Shaw, are you done yet?"
Ethan Shaw pulled his hand back and neatly arranged all the ointnts on the tray. "I’m done applying the dicine, but for it to work best, you should leave your clothes off for a bit. I’m going downstairs for a mont."
After a slight pause, Naomi Kenway nodded.
Naomi Kenway lay on her stomach and played on her phone for a while. A surprising number of people had been contacting her lately. Since it was awkward to type while lying on her stomach, she sent voice ssages instead.
A mont later, Naomi Kenway felt the cool, damp sensation on her back fade, so she sat up and pulled her clothes back on.
A knock sounded at the door, followed by Ethan Shaw’s voice. "Can I co in now?"
"Yes," Naomi Kenway said.
"You’ve been at ho so much lately. Isn’t it busy at the company?" Naomi Kenway asked.
"I’m working from ho, but I make ti to go into the office for a bit each day."
"Oh, by the way, I saw that Christina Lynch was arrested by the police..."
Ethan Shaw grunted in agreent. "She brought it on herself."
Naomi Kenway recalled the news she had just seen. A dia outlet had exposed that Christina Lynch had a drug addiction and was currently undergoing police-mandated rehabilitation.
Another knock sounded at the door, followed by a crisp, feminine voice. It was Jenna Shaw.
When Ethan Shaw opened the door, he saw Luke Lowell following behind Jenna Shaw. Luke greeted him with a wide smile, "Hey, Cousin."
"Naomi, how are you feeling?"
Jenna Shaw strode to the front and placed a thermal container on the table. "Grandma asked to bring this. She said you love Mama Chandler’s soup, and since it’s hard for her to get around, she had bring it. Grandma said it’s full of restorative ingredients and is very nourishing. Here, try so and see if you like it."
Jenna Shaw ladled out a bowl of the soup. Goji berries floated in the rich, white broth. Naomi Kenway took it and asked, "What kind of soup is this?"
Jenna Shaw shook her head. "I don’t know either. Grandma just said it’s a healing soup. And Naomi, you have no idea. When Grandma heard you were hurt, she was worried sick. She wanted to co see you, but my mom stopped her. You know her health isn’t the best. When you have a minute, send her a ssage."
Hearing this, Naomi Kenway frowned slightly. "Grandma knows?"
"It wasn’t who let it slip, Naomi. Grandma is an expert internet surfer. She knows about a lot of things. I tried to keep it from her, but I couldn’t."
"I’m not blaming you." Naomi Kenway took a sip of the soup and smiled. "It’s delicious. I’ll go thank Grandma in person in a couple of days."
Jenna Shaw smiled. "I’m glad you like it. You need to get well soon, Naomi. I heard what happened this ti was deliberate, done by soone nad Lin... what’s-her-na..." Her tone turned indignant. "People like that are just despicable! I wonder if she’s got so grudge against the world. She’d better hope she never runs into , or I’ll break her legs and show her what karma is all about..."
Luke Lowell coughed lightly twice.
Realizing what she’d done, Jenna Shaw gave Ethan Shaw a strained laugh. "Sorry, big bro, I got carried away. I promise I’ll be more civilized and polite next ti. I won’t say such gory things again."
"It’s not gory."
"Not gory?" Jenna Shaw stared, stunned. It was hard to believe the person with such a calm expression was her brother. Jenna had grown up at her maternal grandmother’s house to keep the lonely old woman company. Her doting grandmother and the less rigid rules of the Chandler Family—compared to the Shaw Family—allowed Jenna to grow up wild and free.
In middle school, she had been young, reckless, and foolish. Obsessed with wuxia novels, she dreamt of a life of adventure and even started a "gang" with a few classmates. At fifteen, operating under the principle of "righteousness above all," she got into a fight to defend a friend. She ended up in juvenile hall and had to be bailed out by Ethan Shaw. Feeling incredibly proud of herself, she shouted a string of taunts at her opponents, only to turn and see her brother frowning as he criticized her in a low voice: "No swearing."
At first, Jenna Shaw didn’t care, but later...
Of everyone in the family, she was most afraid of her brother. The way he’d lecture soone with a stone-cold expression was scarier than anything her parents could do.
With Ethan Shaw’s tacit approval, Jenna Shaw no longer held back. She proceeded to curse Christina Lynch out to her heart’s content. After venting, she felt much better.
Turning his head, Luke Lowell gave her a thumbs-up. "Nice one, Cousin."
Luke Lowell took a few steps forward and placed a peace charm on the table. "Naomi, my mom went to a mountain temple to get this for you. I heard she t with a great master. She was so sore and achy after coming back from the mountain that she couldn’t go anywhere, so she had deliver it."
Naomi Kenway picked up the peace charm from the table and smiled. "Thank you."
After chatting for a little while, Luke Lowell was the first to leave. As one of the hottest celebrities of the mont, his schedule was always packed.
Jenna Shaw sat on the edge of the bed, talking with Naomi Kenway. When she ntioned Walter Vance, a blissful smile always appeared on her face. "Walter, he... he gave a necklace a while ago. It’s so beautiful, I can’t even bring myself to wear it out."
At this, however, Naomi Kenway’s brows furrowed slightly. She began cautiously, "I rember you two used to..."
Jenna Shaw said, "That was all in the past. I used to be really angry. He treated so badly. But... but then suddenly he started being so good to ..."
Her voice was tinged with distress:
"Naomi, I’m so pathetic. Do you think I’m falling for him? He can be so cold and distant, but then sotis he’s so good to ..."
