The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show Chapter 49 - 50: Ms. Kenway, You’re Number 1
Ruby Preston didn’t move, but she ant the sa thing. "It would be better if we work on it together."
Naomi Kenway nodded without much of a reaction. She knew she wasn’t considered very trustworthy and had no intention of trying to change anyone’s mind.
"I’ll go look for materials first, then."
"No." Margaret Jennings grabbed Naomi Kenway’s arm, her brow furrowed with worry. "I really can’t let you go off on your own. Nina, please listen to and stick with us. It’s truly dangerous at night."
Carina Sanders also took Naomi Kenway’s hand. "Aunt Kenway, please co with us!"
A warmth spread through Naomi Kenway’s heart, and she smiled. "Don’t worry. I have a caraman following , and the production team will warn if there’s any danger."
Margaret Jennings slowly released her hand. What Naomi Kenway said made sense; the entire area was being watched by the production team, so there wouldn’t be any accidents.
"Then be careful, and you can always co back and find us."
Naomi Kenway nodded, then took Ian Shaw’s hand and walked away.
Margaret Jennings watched Naomi Kenway’s retreating figure for a long ti before finally looking away.
Chelsea Raines sneered. "So people just have to learn the hard way."
Renee Jennings hid the delight in her eyes. "Alright everyone, follow to find the materials. Let’s go!"
The production team’s lights illuminated a wide area, so Naomi Kenway didn’t even need to take the flashlight out of her backpack.
"Annie, keep holding my hand and don’t be scared," Naomi Kenway instructed.
Ian Shaw shook his head and said with a serious expression, "Annie isn’t scared. Mom is a hero who will always protect !"
Naomi Kenway chuckled. "The path is slippery here, so make sure you hold on tight to your hero’s hand."
[Annie has such unconditional trust in Naomi. I’m crying.]
[People say Annie doesn’t have much of a presence, but he’s so sensible and well-behaved.]
[Naomi Kenway is being so reckless. How dare she take such a gamble with her child? Who cares about the prize? It’s not like she needs it. But if they don’t even have a tent for the night, won’t Annie have to suffer right along with her? My heart breaks for poor Annie...]
[She’s insisting on making her own son suffer just to clean up her image!]
[How is Annie suffering?]
[If she can’t build the tent, he’ll *be* suffering. Naomi Kenway only cares about salvaging her reputation. She’s so selfish! Where are they going to sleep if she fails? Is she just going to quit *Super Mom* like she quit *Extre Survival: 24 Hours* two years ago?]
[I was wondering why Naomi Kenway was on her phone the whole ti. Turns out she was studying how to build a tent. She’s been researching for a while, so don’t assu she can’t do it. To the comnter above, stop bringing up things that happened years ago. Naomi was forced into it by her manager, Lindsay Woods. She’s not the sa person anymore!]
[Lindsay who? That’s just an excuse Naomi’s team cooked up to save her reputation, and you actually fell for it? People like her who use their own children for clout never end well!]
...
Without the incessant chatter from Renee Jennings and Chelsea Raines, it was much more peaceful for Naomi Kenway.
To avoid any errors, Naomi Kenway checked the instructions on her phone several tis after completing each step. The sky grew darker and darker; she couldn’t afford to keep making mistakes.
"Mom! Mom!"
Ian Shaw ca running over, carrying several pieces of wood in his arms. "Look at the wood I found! I picked it all up from under that big tree over there! Jared Woods tried to take it from , but I just ran away and he couldn’t catch up."
Ian Shaw’s eyes sparkled, like a little fawn waiting for praise.
Naomi Kenway quickly took the wood from him. "You’re so amazing, Annie! But the ground here is treacherous. Next ti, you have to call for Mom, okay?"
"Okay!"
The instructions Naomi Kenway had found were comprehensive, but she still hit a few snags putting them into practice. Theory, after all, was different from reality. She carefully checked the guide and tried again and again until her back was soaked with sweat.
She wasn’t interested in the prize; but as the night grew deeper, she knew she had to finish the tent so she and her son would have a place to sleep.
Ian Shaw was very well-behaved. He did as Naomi Kenway told him and sat quietly on a pile of leaves to the side, blinking his big eyes as he watched his mother work, cheering her on silently.
Hard work pays off. After a few more careful comparisons, Naomi Kenway confird that the tent she had built was nearly identical to the one in the guide, and she finally let out a sigh of relief.
Slipping her phone into her pocket, Naomi Kenway excitedly hugged Ian Shaw. "We did it! We have a tent to sleep in!"
"Mom is amazing! You’re the most amazing mom in the world!"
Ian Shaw didn’t really know how to give complints, so he just repeated the sa praise Naomi Kenway had given him.
After the tent was set up, Naomi Kenway built a fire nearby to keep wild animals away. Even though the production staff was watching over them, it was always better to be safe than sorry.
Ian Shaw was already getting sleepy. His head was starting to droop as he struggled to keep his eyes open.
The sight made Naomi Kenway’s heart ache. ’It’s all my fault for taking so long to build the tent.’
Naomi Kenway picked Ian Shaw up and gently patted his back. "Are you getting sleepy, son?"
Ian Shaw yawned, barely able to keep his eyes open.
Naomi Kenway quickly carried Ian Shaw into the tent and tucked him in comfortably to sleep.
A voice called out from outside the tent. The person seed to be mindful that Ian Shaw was asleep, as they kept their voice low.
Naomi Kenway had just crawled out of the tent when she saw a staff mber walking over, holding out a package.
Naomi Kenway was confused. "What’s this?"
"It’s the prize for first place, Ms. Kenway."
Naomi Kenway took it, surprised. "Renee Jennings and her group haven’t finished yet?"
The spot Naomi Kenway had chosen was several ters away from Renee Jennings’s group, and thick vegetation blocked her view, so she had no idea what their situation was.
Renee Jennings had led everyone away with such confidence that Naomi had assud they would have completed the task long ago.
The staff mber shook their head. "They’ll probably need a bit more ti."
Naomi Kenway nodded, not bothering to concern herself with the others. She took the package of ingredients and crawled back into the tent.
She opened it and took a look. There was a nice variety of items, including two cans of fruit.

Renee Jennings held a piece of wood in her hand, trying her best to recall the instructions she had seen before.
’I rember it so clearly, so why is it this difficult to actually do? How are these pieces of wood supposed to fit together into a fra? How do the leaves attach to it? Why is sothing that looked so simple in the instructions so hard in reality?’
Chelsea Raines, holding a drowsy Jared Woods in her arms, couldn’t help but press, "Rachel, aren’t you done yet?"
Margaret Jennings also glanced worriedly at the dark sky. "It’s getting late. Why is this tent so difficult?"
She finished with a sigh.
After struggling for over an hour, they still couldn’t even manage the basic fra of the tent. An embarrassed look crept onto Renee Jennings’s face.
’She knew there was a gap between theory and practice, but she hadn’t expected it to be this huge. It’s all the production team’s fault for this stupid task!’
For so reason, her thoughts drifted to Naomi Kenway. ’Naomi Kenway sure is stubborn, holding out for over an hour without coming to us for help. I thought she’d last half an hour, tops.’
