"So what has been decided?"

A man with blonde hair looked at his assistant who stood on the side.

"The Lord is still debating about the possible profits."

The assistant spoke in a polite voice, his eyes fixed on the man beside him.

"Tsk. What’s there to think about? It’s not like we were losing much."

The assistant didn’t reply, just bowed his head in apology.

"Why trouble the fella?"

Another voice echoed through the room as a man in his thirties stepped in, wearing casual clothes that looked a little out of place for the auction.

"When would you stop bullying others? Poor fellas!"

Remzi patted the assistant’s shoulder before sitting on the adjacent sofa.

"And who the hell allowed you inside?"

Arnold’s loud voice vibrated across the closed room.

"Calm down, big guy. You will burst my eardrums soday."

Remzi mimicked the gesture of pressing his ears.

Arnold just clicked his tongue in return.

"But why are you here? Surely soone like you will not find anything of value in an auction of this level. If I rember, this guild isn’t even that great. I heard their potions are scams."

Arnold just sighed in return.

"Those are just rumours. The guild has good alchemists and great potential. I have decided to invest in it before soone else bags the prize."

Remzi stood up from his sofa and sat next to Arnold, his eyes popping out in surprise.

"You! Since when did you get into such things? Do you even understand what investnt is?"

"Huh?! Do you take for a muscle head?!"

"Umm... I do."

Remzi blinked his eyes innocently.

"Bastard! And why the fucking hell are you here?"

Arnold tried to shift to the far end of the sofa, but Remzi followed his movent and again sat next to him.

Though Arnold was annoyed, he tried to maintain a calm mind for at least today.

This auction was of significant value to him, and he couldn’t get his brain ssed up by this sadist.

"Language, dude, language. How many tis do I have to tell you... You won’t get girls at this rate! Also—"

"Get lost."

"Alright! Alright! I was just passing by, and thought to get a quick glance. Actually the owner of the guild is soone that I knew from the past, and so he told about you being here."

"Huh? Shut the fuck up! Telling about a guest’s attendance, much less a VIP, is the last thing any auction house will do!"

At Arnold’s outrage, Remzi leaned back on the sofa, closing his eyes for a mont.

"Well, the security here gave away your presence."

Remzi kept his words short, not caring to explain further.

"And how was that?"

"..."

"Oyy!... Tsk."

Arnold knew that Remzi wouldn’t speak, even if a dagger was held at his throat, so giving up he too leaned back on the sofa, his gaze shifting to the auction below.

The assistant that stood on the side retreated a few steps, not daring to disturb the conversation between the two.

As both the figures before him were among the most powerful individuals in the empire.

The man with blonde hair was Arnold Levaith, the brother of Duke Levaith.

House Levaith was the second strongest dukedom in the Veltran Empire, commanding control over the third-largest military force in the empire.

The Levaiths were a direct rival of the Frosts and had a major presence across all sectors in the empire.

The man sitting beside Arnold wasn’t affiliated with any house, as he was an orphan who now served in the central military under the Veltran Empire.

Remzi worked for the empire’s intelligence departnt and was one of the best military strategists in the entire world.

Even without having any interest in gaining fa, Remzi was a well-known man in the empire.

Many of the military books written till date had ntion of the various operations that were executed successfully under his leadership.

Remzi didn’t like his freedom to be curtailed behind four walls, which was the main reason behind him not being the head strategist of the empire’s military.

His casual and easy-going deanour was sothing that always made the people around him feel relaxed, without burdening their minds in his presence.

But that side of his personality was just a deception, and only those close to Remzi knew about his real self.

If you knew the operations conducted under his lead, each and every one of them was enough to send shivers down one’s spine.

Despite all that, Remzi was a man of principles, however brutal his thods may have been.

"Sold!"

The first item, so leaf of Aactle, was sold for 25,000 credits.

"25,000 credits for that thing. Hehehe, the rich really are the best to scam. You said sothing about the rumours, so what’s this?"

Remzi turned towards Arnold, who had just closed his eyes to save himself from possible embarrassnt.

The leaf of Aactle was rare, but not up to the point of being sold for 25,000 credits.

Many of the guests might have already known about it, but still the newbies kept buying it, as the lots at the start were the only things that people with moderate wealth could afford.

Everyone needed to buy sothing to raise their levels, as these auctions were the best opportunities to do the sa.

Still, auctioning such a thing could be considered a scam in itself.

"It’s a business, and they have to do such things for proper growth—"

"Yeah, yeah. I get that! But are you sure about investing in them, though a Levaith wouldn’t run out of funds to throw."

Arnold clicked his tongue at the obvious sarcasm.

"You sure about coming here? Don’t you have a job to attend? Provide intelligence for the experts, bookworm!"

Arnold tried to provoke Remzi, but the latter didn’t even blink his eyes.

Arnold, feeling frustrated at being easily riled up, was just about to turn his focus on the auction again, but he paused midway, as Remzi’s expression turned serious for the first ti.
