Chapter 936: Greed of Midas.

Daniel Park was a man bound by his Unique Skill. The moment he had laid eyes on Alan Peccator and used Midas to scan him, he could no longer resist the urge to have Alan Peccator.

Nobody but him knew what ‘value’ Midas showed him about Alan Peccator, but it was enough to make him risk his entire guild, and even incur the wrath of the Association. Daniel Park was confident he could hide until the war and escape anywhere else.

Midas valued Alan Peccator more than everything Daniel had gained, and this was just his heart and body. A dead Alan Peccator, and the spoils of his body were enough to convince Midas… No, Daniel, that he should risk it all.

It was something he couldn’t stop; the side effect of using [Midas] was that his greed was unstoppable. And with the high value present before him, Daniel was barely able to contain himself. Even postponing the attack was having a great toll on him.

Daniel took a whiff of a cigar, explaining the plan to Elijah. He was certain that with some improvements, Ezra could take Alan down. He had done it once; he could do it again.

Furthermore, Ezra had many cards up his sleeve, with his history of being a genius, and the value assigned to him by Midas. Daniel was confident the plan had a high rate of success.

Even so, if Ezra failed to take Alan Peccator down and bring his heart, he would still weaken Alan enough that Daniel could finish the job without Midas.

Ezra Fornum was still the best genius Earth had to offer, one who had two Unique Skills, as well as a Unique Affinity. Even if Alan Peccator had a lot of cards hidden up his sleeve, Ezra would still be able to deal a lot of damage to him.

And Daniel was confident he could deal with a weakened Alan Peccator, without being forced to use Midas. He was confident he could do that.

After he was done explaining, Ezra stood up and walked towards the mirror once again.

“Go and take over Behemoth first, I’ll tell you what to do next.”

However, Ezra didn’t disappear into the mirror; instead, he took out a piece of paper, a parchment glowing with ethereal golden light. Daniel’s eyes widened as he saw it, and he clicked his tongue.

‘Where did he obtain that…’

Ezra slammed the piece of parchment on the table. His mana leaked out of his body, filling the entire room. It was as sharp as a blade, and suffocated Daniel. In response, Daniel let out his own, pushing Ezra’s mana back, but only by a small margin.

“…”

“Sign it.”

The piece of parchment was a contract, an actual legendary grade contract. It was tiers above the contract Alan had signed when joining Twilight, and it was one that even Mythical beings couldn’t break if they signed it; the risks were too high.

Ezra had obtained the legendary piece of parchment as a reward for clearing a labyrinth in Russia.

Daniel glared at Ezra, and for a moment, controlled the room to summon a particular statue, but before he could do so, Ezra’s finger was at his throat.

“I’ll do that job of yours, but in return, you sign this contract to turn Elizabeth back to normal and leave us alone after that.”

His sharp finger cut Daniel’s neck once more, and Ezra threatened.

“Otherwise, I’m going to rip your heart out and feed it to your dying corpse.”

“That’s quite a threat, isn’t it?”

Daniel remarked, but Ezra wasn’t joking. The young man was at his breaking point, and really would do as he said. For a moment, Daniel considered his options.

Should he fight? No, it would cause too much of a motion, and Ezra would likely beat him. Using [Midas] was questionable; Ezra had many cards up his sleeve.

That was why he opted to use his wife against him. Daniel clicked his tongue, aware that his chances of defeating Ezra in a pure fight were close to zero. Then again, that was why he had chosen him to fight the dragon.

“Alright.”

He reluctantly agreed and signed the contract. The moment both of them signed it, the parchment turned to golden dust, forming a chain that wrapped around each of their hearts and souls. If they disobeyed the terms of the contract…

Only a gruesome death would follow.

With this, Ezra was satisfied, and Daniel reluctantly handed him a few elixirs and powerful artifacts to aid him. He was still unaware Ezra had advanced to the SSS-rank. Ezra accepted them and disappeared.

“… He got me there…”

Daniel plained as he got up from his seat. He never expected Ezra would have a legendary grade contract on him. If it were the standard ones present on Earth, he would have a lot of leeway with his unique skill and other methods at his disposal.

But a Legendary Grade Contract? Daniel couldn’t do anything against it. Ezra was lucky, immensely lucky that he acquired it after clearing a damn labyrinth.

Daniel strode towards the edge of his office, overlooking the Strait of Bosporus. The headquarters of Titan was built close to it, just so Daniel could enjoy the view of the sunset turning everything gold.

The Capitol was beautiful, especially at this hour. Unfortunately, it could never be his with Ragnar on the throne. But then again, did it really matter? All his wealth, all his knowledge, all his experience… didn’t matter if he got his hands on the heart of a frost dragon.

The most priceless treasure in the universe, if he had his hands on that, anything Earth had given him would be worth nothing. Nothing on Earth could pare to the heart of one of the most protected species of Dragons.

If only he could get that Heart, Daniel would evolve, perhaps straight to the rank of Epic, or even above. It was possible with Midas.

If only he could get his hands on that Heart, he would ascend.
