Faced with Renee Jennings’s questioning, Vernon remained perfectly calm.
He said with a smile, "Strear, no matter how many tis you ask, my answer will be the sa. I’m the cat’s owner."
"You’re lying!" Renee Jennings’s face was cold, her displeasure evident. "You clearly stole that cat!"
[Wait, the cat was actually stolen???]
[But Vernon just said he’d raised it since it was a kitten... I don’t even know what to say!]
[If you want a cat, just buy one. Why steal?]
A flash of surprise flickered deep in Vernon’s eyes before he denied it. "Strear, you should watch what you say."
’This man is so shaless.’
She retorted mockingly, "Well, let tell *you* sothing. If you want a cat, you can buy one or adopt one. But you absolutely cannot steal one!"
Vernon maintained his refined deanor. "Strear, what makes you say I stole this cat?"
A chill crept into Renee Jennings’s clear, pleasant voice. "Fifi told . You know perfectly well whether you stole her or not."
"Then show your proof." A sinister smile spread across Vernon’s face. "If you can’t, I can sue you for slander."
Seeing his triumphant, smug look, Fifi beca furious and told Renee Jennings everything she had overheard in the past few days.
After hearing Fifi out, Renee Jennings could only think, ’There really are so many deceitful n in this world.’
[Vernon doesn’t look like he’s lying... Could the strear be mistaken this ti?]
[Yeah, how can the strear just accuse soone without knowing the facts?]
[I feel like the strear is getting a big head, she’s being so rude.]
[Huh? What’s going on? Seems like a lot of haters are suddenly showing up?]
Renee Jennings glanced at the middle-aged man on the other screen, a slight smirk on her lips. "Your divorced female boss is a cat lover, isn’t she?"
When Vernon heard this, the smile on his face froze. The shock in his eyes was gone in a flash.
His face hardened as he said irritably, "What are you talking about? I just wanted to ask about my pet. Why are you spouting all this nonsense? Are you even a professional pet strear?"
"I never claid to be a professional pet strear. I do this stream simply to communicate with pets, and I don’t profit from it." Renee Jennings desperately wanted to roll her eyes at him, but with so many viewers, she had to mind her image.
[I bet Vernon wanted to steal the cat to suck up to his female boss.]
[Uhh, couldn’t he just buy one?]
[Vernon’s getting defensive.]
[I believe the strear! This old guy is definitely a cat thief, otherwise why would the cat reject him?]
Vernon’s face darkened. "I don’t care whether you’re making money or not. The fact remains that you’ve slandered . Wait for a letter from my lawyer!"
"Fine by ." Renee Jennings shrugged nonchalantly. "By the way, a viewer just now was spot on. Vernon wanted to use raising a cat as an excuse to get closer to his boss. But he felt pedigree cats were too expensive and couldn’t bring himself to buy one, so he stole Fifi instead."
Vernon’s eyes darted around, his heart pounding with shock.
’How does this strear know everything?’
’But it’s fine. As long as I stick to my story that she’s slandering , it’ll be okay.’
’After all, she’s the only one who can understand what the cat is saying. The audience can’t.’
"Utter nonsense!" Vernon exclaid, looking furious. "Pudge is a cat I bought last year! I didn’t steal her."
Renee Jennings said slowly, "You stole Fifi and renad her Pudge. You did that because your boss’s surna is Du."
[Damn, this guy’s got so nerve!]
[He’s in his forties or fifties, and he’s still playing these kinds of gas~]
Vernon was stunned that Renee Jennings knew so many details, and a sense of dread washed over him.
"This is ridiculous! I thought you were actually skilled, but you’re nothing special! Forget it!"
He disconnected the call and imdiately left the stream.
[He ran? Is that a guilty conscience?]
[If he really is the catnapper, I feel so bad for that Silver Shaded and her owner.]
[As a cat owner, I can’t stand to watch this! I’m so angry! We absolutely can’t let a person like that get away with it!]
Renee Jennings was furious, too. She was about to send a ssage to Henry Stark when a comnt in the chat caught her attention.
[The police have already used facial recognition to identify Vernon. Don’t worry everyone, they’ll definitely rescue the cat.]
[WOWOWOW, the authorities actually got involved!]
[OMG! The police are going to rescue the kitty! I’m so moved!]
[This is our country, giving us such a strong sense of security.]
Renee Jennings’s lips curled into a slight smile, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
She picked up her mug, drank half its contents, and glanced at the viewer count in the top-right corner. It had already surpassed thirty thousand.
’Thirty thousand must be the limit,’ Renee Jennings thought.
She put down her cup and said slowly, "Let’s connect with our third pet owner, who will also be the last one for today."
The ID of the viewer who successfully connected was "Lucky."
The split-screen was completely black.
[Why is it pitch-black?]
[What’s going on? Is this a troll?]
Renee Jennings said calmly, "Hello, Lucky. Your cara is covered."
A strange, elderly voice, like that of an old woman, spoke up. "Strear, I’m a bit old, and I’m not much to look at. I’m afraid people will laugh at ."
Hearing this, Renee Jennings didn’t press her to turn on the cara. "If you’re self-conscious, you can just point the cara at your pet."
"I have a few questions I’d like to ask you, Strear," the old woman said.
Renee Jennings asked doubtfully, "Are they about a pet?"
The old woman replied, "No. They’re about your private life."
[This person is here to cause trouble!]
[If you don’t have a pet question, give the spot to soone who does!]
Without giving the old woman a chance to speak, Renee Jennings imdiately disconnected the call.
’What does my private life have to do with this stranger?’
Renee Jennings smoothed back her hair and said calmly, "Alright, let’s try connecting again."
This ti, the ID she connected with was "Fisher."
A face with chubby, baby-fat cheeks appeared on the split-screen.
The girl had her hair up in a bun, and her large eyes overflowed with excitent and surprise upon seeing Renee Jennings.
"Wow, I can’t believe I’m the third lucky person!"
"You are," Renee Jennings said with a small smile. "Hello, Fisher. What kind of pet do you have?"
"A Garfield cat." Fisher propped up her phone, revealing the kitten in her arms. "His na is Becky."
Renee Jennings looked at the Garfield cat’s perpetually worried-looking face, and the smile in her eyes deepened. "Hello there, goofy Becky."
Fisher giggled. "Lots of people say Garfield cats are ugly, but I think they’re the so-ugly-it’s-cute kind of adorable."
[Hahaha, so ugly it’s cute. You’re roasting him too~]
[Garfield cats look so wronged all the ti!]
While the viewers were busy teasing the Garfield cat’s appearance, Renee Jennings’s mind was completely focused on what it was saying to her.
Her gaze sharpened. She looked at the innocent Fisher on the other screen, pursed her lips, and said, "Fisher, why don’t you take Becky downstairs for a walk?"
"Huh?" Fisher asked, surprised. "Does Becky want to go outside?"
