Now reading: Chapter 53: You think I’m in the first layer, but I’m actual from The Villainous Noblewoman Is About to Be Forced into Love, Isn’t This Wrong?, a Romance novel by 耶芝娜.

Liana was walking back to her room when a familiar voice called out to her.

"It’s rare to see Lady Liana carrying her own breakfast."

She stopped and turned toward the source of the voice. "Neibet?"

For Neibet to seek her out after everything that had happened, there could only be one reason. "Elina wants to et with ?"

And the reason for that was most likely related to Loraviel.

Sigh, so this is the treatnt of a protagonist, huh?

First, Cain set his sights on Loraviel. Now Elina was doing the sa. peilu probably had the sa idea before everything between them blew up. Olivia had undoubtedly been feeding peilu plenty of bad impressions about her.

"Yes, Lady Elina would like to speak with you." Neibet nodded.

Liana let out a long sigh. "She’s grown up, hasn’t she? How impressive. She actually just sends a servant to call over instead of coming herself. When we were younger, she used to follow around every day."

"Lady Elina, she..."

"If she really needs to discuss sothing with , she should co in person. Understand?" Liana had no intention of going out of her way to et anyone—aside from Countess Ruth, of course.

"Of course, she might not even find . After all, I’m not always in my room. If she really wants to talk, she should try catching in the hallways. That seems to happen often enough, doesn’t it?" Liana gave Neibet a mischievous smile.

To Neibet, however, it was more like a little devil making faces at her.

"If you understand, tell her to co see herself. I’m exhausted. I need more sleep."

"...I understand."

Neibet knew there was no arguing with Liana, so she turned back to report to Elina.

Back in her room, Liana finally sat down to eat her breakfast. After Cain’s little interruption, it had gotten cold.

But she wasn’t so delicate noble lady who fussed over such things. Besides, the desserts in this world were quite good—she really enjoyed them.

She tossed a piece of pastry into her mouth and leaned back in thought. peilu’s side of things didn’t require her attention. The antidote issue was in her hands now, so all Liana could do was wait.

But...

"How should I get Loraviel to discover her true abilities?"

In the original story, it was an accident. Loraviel was poisoned, but she miraculously survived. That was when she realized her body was different from others.

Liana had already started laying the groundwork for this. She had been making Loraviel test poisons for her.

So, theoretically, she just needed to poison herself and have Loraviel ingest it.

But would that be too dangerous...?

In the original story, Loraviel almost died. The process had been excruciatingly painful.

Liana wasn’t sure of the exact timing. If she triggered it too early or too late, there could be complications.

To be safe, she needed an antidote first. peilu?

But peilu wouldn’t carry poisons around, would she...?

"...Ruth?"

Liana suddenly thought of soone.

"Of course! Ruth!"

She smacked her forehead. Now was the perfect ti to visit Ruth!

That woman had used her for so long—wasn’t it about ti she returned the favor?

Liana stepped out of her room and made her way to her next destination.

"See her? That’s Liana. She had a huge fight with Princess peilu the other day."

"I don’t understand why Princess peilu spoils her so much. She’s such a kind person. Why waste it on her?"

"Sigh... Lady Liana used to be so sweet. But ever since the Duke of Venus left, she’s completely changed."

Rumors of her falling out with peilu had already spread through noble circles. So had even witnessed it firsthand.

"Shh! Don’t talk about her in public!" Soone hushed them. Not out of kindness—just self-preservation.

Regardless of her reputation, Liana was still the daughter of the Venus family.

This was exactly what she and peilu had wanted. It just ant Liana had to endure a little humiliation for the plan to work.

These whispers were nothing new. Since arriving in this world, she had heard them countless tis. She no longer cared.

She simply glanced at them, and they fell silent.

Oh? That worked better than expected.

Just as Liana reached Countess Ruth’s room, Cain stepped out. His expression was grim.

Clearly, he had been asking about Loraviel and Olivia.

Got scolded, didn’t you?

Liana smirked. Right now, she was an invaluable asset in Ruth’s eyes.

"Countess Ruth is inside?"

"Yes."

Cain was irritated that Liana ignored him, but he still nodded.

His mother had already told him not to interfere. Everything was moving in the direction she had planned.

Liana walked past him and stepped into the room.

"Countess Ruth."

"Liana, I was just about to call for you."

A fiery-red figure approached her. Behind a curtain, a shadow flickered—it was Ruth’s personal knight.

"What is it, Countess? Did you need sothing?"

"What happened between you and Princess peilu? Why did you suddenly argue?"

"I just asked her for sothing. Who knew she would get so upset? Completely unreasonable." Liana frowned in irritation.

"You just asked for sothing?" Ruth narrowed her eyes. That alone wouldn’t make peilu react so strongly. "What exactly did you ask her for?"

"Any kind of poison would do." Liana’s tone was casual.

"...Poison?"

Ruth’s eye twitched.

Poison wasn’t outright banned, but it wasn’t sothing just anyone could get their hands on. "And what do you need poison for?"

"Nothing important. Just... my maid. Lately, her behavior has been bothering . She’s just a maid, yet she’s so competent. I kept waiting for her to embarrass herself, but she never does. And honestly, I’m getting a little bored of her. So I thought, in her final monts, she could provide with so entertainnt."

"You an to kill her?"

"More or less. Dying while testing poisons for would be a great honor, wouldn’t it? A maid’s highest achievent." Liana smiled.

Convincing enough.

Ruth believed her without question.

No wonder peilu was so furious.

If Ruth provided the poison, and Liana did kill the maid, peilu would never allow it. That explained her resistance.

Until now, Liana had been playful with her cruelty. But this? This was real.

Ruth had wanted Liana to take this step. Once she crossed this line, she would never be able to turn back.

Not even her parents, should they return, would be able to save her from the blood on her hands.

"That’s not a good idea," Ruth feigned concern. "If soone finds out, it will be troubleso. And poison is dangerous. A single mistake, and you could be hard yourself."

Then, she added sothing genuine:

"It would be better to have soone else handle it."

The first few lines were just empty words. But the last one? That was her true advice.

Ruth didn’t particularly care if Liana lived or died before.

But after witnessing the fallout with peilu, she realized just how useful Liana could be.

Right now, Liana was an irreplaceable chess piece. Losing her would be troubleso.

"I can’t have you dying just yet, Liana."
