Now reading: Chapter 108: Jovian and His Bald, God-Chosen Champion from The Viltrumite Across the Worlds, a Fantasy novel by Razeil.

Everyone knows the Emperor’s favorite son, Horus, is bald. Saitama is bald. And Jovian has ambitions of becoming the Emperor of humanity across the multiverse.

So if you plug that into a very simple formula, you get one perfectly logical conclusion...

Saitama is, with solid reasoning, Jovian’s future chosen champion.

Knock, knock, knock...

Jovian kept knocking on the door, patient as could be, waiting for his champion to open up.

"I already told you I’m not interested in joining your group!"

After Jovian politely and relentlessly knocked on Saitama’s door for five straight minutes, Saitama—who’d been sitting inside eating plain boiled cabbage—finally couldn’t take it anymore. He yanked the door open with an irritated face and started yelling...

Then he saw Jovian standing there, holding thirty kilos of A5 wagyu he’d bought at an upscale grocery store.

Sniff, sniff...

Saitama’s eyes shone like spotlights.

No—more accurately, Saitama’s eyes were shining at the A5 beef in Jovian’s hands.

"Long ti no see, Saitama," Jovian said warmly. "Last ti I asked you to keep Earth safe, I didn’t get a chance to properly thank you. I’ve been busy lately, but today I finally carved out a little ti to co see you..."

He glanced at Saitama’s bowl on the table behind him and asked on purpose, "You’re already eating, huh? Did I co at a bad ti? If so, I can co back another day—"

"No! You ca at the perfect ti!" Saitama blurted, his hand betraying him as he grabbed Jovian to stop him from leaving.

"Great," Jovian said. "I brought so beef. Want to make a big pot of beef and veggies together?"

He put the enormous bag of wagyu into Saitama’s arms.

"All of this is really for ?" Saitama asked, suddenly feeling awkward. "Honestly... I don’t know if I deserve it. I only did what I could."

"Of course," Jovian said. "If you don’t eat it, I can’t finish it alone, and it’ll probably go bad."

He patted Saitama on the shoulder. Looking at the man who kept saving people but could barely afford anything nicer than boiled cabbage, Jovian’s eyes were filled with pure satisfaction—especially when he looked at that shiny bald head.

Because really, who wouldn’t want a hard-as-nails, no-hair chosen champion?

"Absolutely not," Saitama said, horrified. "This is premium food! Even if it goes bad, it has to go bad in my stomach!"

He stepped aside, already vibrating with excitent. "You haven’t eaten yet, right? I already have a pot going—co in and eat!"

"Alright," Jovian said, giving an almost invisible nod.

Then he tilted his head and looked behind him at Fubuki, who was slumped on the ground like her brain had completely blue-screened.

"She’s my friend’s little sister," Jovian said quietly to Saitama, pointing at her. "You probably know her. The small one who’s always floating around."

"Ah..." Saitama’s face twitched as a mory surfaced. "That smug brat."

In his ears, he could practically hear that short, hovering, arrogant "middle-schooler" pointing at his head and calling him a baldy all over again.

"She looks like she hasn’t eaten either," Jovian added, calmly. "So..."

He waited for his chosen champion’s verdict.

"Then she can eat too," Saitama said, generously. Then he raised a finger and added firmly, "But I’m saying this now: I am absolutely, absolutely, absolutely not joining your weird organization."

Even if Jovian hadn’t brought beef, if Jovian—or Fubuki—said they were hungry, Saitama would’ve still brought them inside and shared whatever he had. That was just how he was.

"Co on in," Jovian said to Fubuki.

"Ah... yeah... okay... no problem!" Fubuki nodded like a puppet, agreeing to everything on autopilot.

"Genos! We’ve got guests today!" Saitama called out as he walked back inside, sounding weirdly happy.

"Guests? That’s rare," Genos replied.

He ca out of the kitchen wearing an apron and a maid cap, looking utterly ridiculous as he stared at Saitama and Jovian.

"Hi," Jovian greeted him.

"S-Class Rank One..." Genos’s eyes narrowed slightly, appraising Jovian. "So you’ve noticed Sensei’s power too?"

There was suspicion in his tone—like he didn’t trust Jovian’s reason for coming.

"Eat first!" Saitama cut in imdiately, already sitting down beside the steaming pot.

"Eat," Jovian agreed, taking a seat.

"Mm..." Genos kept his eyes on Jovian for a mont longer, but if Sensei didn’t object, Genos had no right to butt in. So he said nothing more and obediently sat down around the pot.

Fubuki stared at the three of them as they ate and talked, her mind completely tangled.

"S-Class Rank Seventeen, the Demon Cyborg, is here too... and he’s the disciple of this B-Class rookie?"

"And S-Class Rank One... Godslayer Jovian, the one who defeated a God-level monster... ca here in person?"

"This guy—no, everyone in this house—who are they, exactly?"

Right then, Jovian spoke up, calm as ever.

"Saitama. Will you be my chosen champion?"

"Chosen champion?" Saitama asked, stuffing beef into his mouth. "What’s that?"

"It ans," Jovian said smoothly, "that in order to eat beef whenever you want, you’ll wipe out every intelligent non-human alien threat."

Jovian wasn’t exactly lying. He just... wasn’t saying all of it.

"For beef?" Saitama’s eyes sharpened.

"Exactly," Jovian said, nodding.

"Then I’ll do it," Saitama agreed instantly, without even thinking.

"Good," Jovian said. "Then say this: ’I’m willing to beco Jovian’s chosen champion.’"

"Why do I have to say sothing that weird?" Saitama asked, confused.

"It’s basically a formal ritual," Jovian explained. "A public declaration. Like a joining statent."

"Alright..." Saitama figured a slogan was harmless enough.

"Say it," Jovian urged, expression blank.

"I, Saitama, declare right here that I’m willing to beco Jovian’s chosen champion!" Saitama announced.

He looked at Jovian expectantly. "That good?"

"Perfect," Jovian said.

Then he nodded toward the pot. "Alright, enough talking. Eat."

"I’m starting the battle!" Saitama declared, attacking the beef with pure joy on his face.

Jovian didn’t say anything else. Inside his mind, he was already pulling up his system—so quiet it barely felt like it existed.

He checked the new feature he’d spent several sleepless nights forcing into shape.

Under the "Chosen Champions" section, Saitama’s icon was now lit up.

Jovian was extrely satisfied.

That brand-new feature was the final result of his frantic system overhaul: as long as soone’s affinity with him was high enough, and they openly acknowledged—voluntarily—that they were willing to beco Jovian’s chosen champion, then Jovian could register them.

And what did Jovian gain from it?

Plenty.

The simplest and most brutal benefit was this: if Jovian ever ran into a fight where enemies tried to overwhelm him with numbers, he could directly summon his chosen champion into the battlefield.

The only unfortunate part was that once Saitama left his own universe, he wouldn’t keep that ridiculous one-punch instakill bonus.

That was... mildly disappointing.
