After splitting into two groups, the girl got down from the wall and sneaked up to Thivadi’s estate. It was a peaceful afternoon under a bright blue sky. They talked about waiting for a better opportunity, like attacking under the cover of the night, but Lythea assured them that now was fine. No one there was patient enough to argue otherwise.
Not a single soul in the entire country expected a commotion to happen today, and if it was up to them, Thivadi was going to et his end without one.
Galene, Abby, and Narumi approached the estate through the main gate. A tall tal fence with spikes on top surrounded the entire estate, which was so big that the mansion couldn’t be seen from the gate.
And since the inverse was true, there was a good chance that they could finish their job without anyone inside noticing.
“Good afternoon. Are you two guards stationed on this gate?” Weapons were unnecessary as Galene approached a pair of guards with a friendly greeting. “We’d like to speak the head of the estate’s security. Can you let us in?”
The two guards, spears in hand, blinked at each other.
“I- I don’t think we’re expecting any visitors today…” Said the one on their right. “Did you make an appointnt?”
“This is an ergency.” Without fear, Abby stepped up to the two guards. “The lord of this mansion has been found guilty of associating with demons. We’ve already sent a special team to infiltrate the mansion and apprehend him.”
“Wh- who are you? You sent intruders into the mansion?” The guard on the left took a step back. “Wh- what do we do?” He turned to his buddy.
“That’s right.” Galene said. “But according to our information, the soldiers stationed here were sent from the castle and don’t really know what’s happens inside. We don’t want to hurt any humans, so we’d like your help to evacuate them without getting found. Before they pick a fight with our friends and they retaliate in self-defense.”
“Re- retaliate?! You’re just as bad as the demons… Invading our lands and causing problems for us!” The spear of the left guard rattled as his face turned red. “We won’t let you get away with this! Surrender peacefully and tell your friends to stand down!”
The guard quickly pulled his leg back and lowered his stand to aim his spear at Galene. “Ehh?” But the spear didn’t budge when he tried to pull it down. Narumi locked it in place with a single hand and stopped him before he could do anything stupid.
Before he could even blink, Galene made him pass out with a chop to the back of the head. “Sorry…”
“Whew…” So far, things were still peaceful. Narumi laid the guard’s unconscious body up against the wall before teaming up on the remaining guard.
“We don’t want to hurt anyone, but we also won’t let you do anything stupid, pal.” Abby raised her voice. “Are you going to collaborate, or do we need to teach you a lesson too?”
“…” The guard calmly let go of his spear and raised his hands. “L- let just confirm one thing first… Yo- you are the heroine, aren’t you? I thought you seed familiar from the second I saw you…” The guard didn’t imdiately crumble under pressure. He was too good for a soldier on guard duty.
“You’re right… My na is Galene, and that is the title I have been granted. If it helps you change your mind, on the authority of the Hero, I’d like to ask for your help escorting all the guards out of the estate. I’ll take responsibility for whatever happens.”
“I see…” The guard lowered his hands and relaxed. “You see, the truth is that I’m actually the captain of the soldiers stationed here. I’ve always had my suspicions about the Thivadi noble, so I usually take up guard duty to stay away. If the heroine herself says he’s a traitor, I’ll do my best to help.”
“Eh?” Galene smiled. “You an it?”
“Ahahahahaha! Great! I’m glad we won’t have to hurt anyone… Too much…” Narumi let out a big sigh.
“That’s true.” Galene said. “But we need to hurry… We don’t know when the others are going to co in contact with enemies and get the soldiers involed. We have to help them before that happens.”

anwhile, the other group…
“Whew… We’re inside… Lots of guards outside. We’re lucky we didn’t get caught.” Ririna patted the dust off herself while catching her breath.
The best way they found to get inside turned out to be a tiny window that led into a dark cellar. With a window so small, it ended up being the least guarded place on the whole estate.
“Lucky? Pfft… They didn’t even dream that we were there.” Carol said. “The only thing you were lucky about is that Sarasa was there to carry you over the fence and push you up to the window.”
“You would have preferred Iroha helping you, wouldn’t you? Sorry… Sorry that you had to put up with …” Sarasa patted her head with a mocking grin.
“I obviously would, but that’s beside the point! I don’t need to get coddled by her all the ti! *Sigh…* Thanks, though.”
Nothing suited a cellar more than being dim and dusty. It made for a great place to confirm the details before jumping into the action.
“Now that we’re inside, we won’t co across any humans, right?” Katja turned to Lythea. “If it’s just demons and undead, it’s okay to attack everything on sight, right? Right?”
“Uhh… Uhmm… I- it’s true that Thivadi stationed the human guards outside and around the mansion, b- but they’ll still co running if we make a commotion… Ma- maybe try to hold back a little…”
“Ho- hold back…? Ughh… O- okay… I did that a lot in the past… I can handle that…” Katja’s thumb trembled right above the button to extend her sword. She squeezed the handle hard so she didn’t do anything by accident.
“Don’t listen to her.” Carol said. “If any humans get in our way, we take them out too.”
“Eeeeekk! Th- that’s… I- I won’t stop you but about what Galene and the others are trying to do? D- do you want their efforts to be in vain? I- if we wait a little, they might be able to get the soldiers out… Or maybe they already did…”
“You’re not wrong, but who cares?” Carol asked. “We’re here to get revenge on a jerk, so wouldn’t it be in character to get innocent people involved?”
“Your revenge is for my sake, so I care. Listen to her and behave for a mont.”
“Fiiiiine…” Carol and Katja both slumped their shoulders like children.
A rampage was off-limits for now, but nothing was stopping the impatient girls from peeking out from the cellar’s door to the rest of the mansion. The cellar connected through a narrow hall leading to a wider hall. The coast was clear. No demons or any signs of Thivadi’s vast army of undead. Could he raise the dead on demand? Was that how that worked? If that was the case, there was no need to keep them around inside the mansion.
*Bzzt…*
“Oh…” Katja gasped. “It’s Narumi. She just sent a ssage saying their negotiations were successful. The rest I don’t dare read.” She shoved her phone into a pocket before anyone could peek.
“What’s that an?” Carol asked.
Katja averted her eyes and kept her mouth shut.
“Tell us!” Hecate stepped in closer. “If she wrote it, it must be important.”
“Sh- she just told to not go too crazy… But then where’s the fun in that? Mind your business.” Katja pouted. She wasn’t the only one itching to get in a fight, why did she keep getting singled out?
“Considering that you stabbed yourself last ti, I think you could take her opinion into consideration.” Ririna laughed. “Iroha’s not here to save this ti.”
“Grrr… I know… I’ll be more careful, okay? I learned my lesson… If I sohow end up needing to hurt myself, I’m not going for dangerous spots without Iroha around.”
“Without Iroha around?” There’s a condition to her being reasonable, huh? “*Sigh…* I’m holding you to that.” Hecate smirked. “My eye is enough. We don’t need any of us getting any more serious injuries.”
“Wh- what if soone gets hurt regardless?” Lythea asked. “Y- you’re taking it easy, but this is a dangerous mission. You rember that, right?”
“Of course we do.” Carol said. “But we’ll be fine. We’ll just crush everyone we co across before they have a chance to hurt us. Easy, right?”
Is it…?
“What’s with that face? Are you doubting ?” A glare from Carol made Lythea squeak and put her in her place. “That’s what I thought. Thivadi’s not expecting us, but he’s waiting. Let’s go.”
