Wherever the flashlight's beam passed, an entire row of corpses hung from an iron structure as if they were livestock.
But no!
They were the upper halves of human bodies, their heads and legs cut off, skin and blood stripped away, every trace of hair removed—ready to be cooked, like racks of pork ribs.
"This, this is really…!"
George felt a tingling on his scalp, his feet froze, refusing to let him move forward as his eyes locked on corpse after corpse.
Even though he had been an experienced soldier long before the end of the world, the reason he reacted like this was because the visual impact of the scene was too overwhelming. George stood dumbfounded for a while before finally turning off the flashlight.
Jason, on the other hand, was already familiar with such a sight. Not only had he seen it in the original story, but he had also been in places where cannibals had their way.
Now, he honestly regretted not wiping out the people at the terminal. At that ti, perhaps the people there had been good and had not yet committed acts of cannibalism, and that was why he hadn't wanted to beco the villain of a story. Not only would he have been judged by his own people, but also seen as the demon of a refuge.
And now, what he sought was an attitude like George's toward this place.
"We have to kill them all, these bastards don't deserve to live!"
...
Thanks to the efforts of Jesús and the others, the group of walkers finally passed through the terminal gate and reached the inner yard. With that, Jason could begin eliminating the enemies while at the sa ti retreating without being obvious targets to those hiding.
In the moonlight, everyone in the distance saw figures coming out of a door into the yard.
Their pace quickened a little, and the people left the group of walkers, heading straight for the two of them. Soone else imdiately took their place in the herd, and the walkers, unsettled by the strange movents, returned to normal.
The figures approached, and the leader was Glenn. They were each carrying two barrels of gasoline in their hands.
"What do you think?" Glenn asked with so concern. After all, it was a matter of human lives, and he didn't want to make an arbitrary decision.
The reply ca in George's voice, grinding his teeth.
"They all deserve to die!"
Glenn was startled. That ca from the good old man George. What kind of things had the people at the terminal done? Was Jason's earlier assumption true?
"Do they really… eat people?"
George didn't speak further, but finally nodded. He was afraid he wouldn't be able to keep from shouting if he spoke again, so he only gave Glenn a nod. Then he raised his weapon and pointed at a spot that wasn't his own. When they saw where he was aiming, everyone understood George wanted to wipe out this group.
Now that the matter was clear, there was truly no reason to hold back!
Opening the door that led directly to the living quarters again, several people guided the walkers in. Not long after, a group of no more than twenty people ca back out of the building. At that ti, there were still walkers moving in and out, one after another.
They ignored the people standing aside; everyone followed the flow of the walkers ahead and entered the building, along with so of the undead that followed them in.
Of course, there were always special circumstances—so walkers not following the set path was a normal phenonon.
anwhile, several people surrounded the dormitory area with gas cans. Jason didn't care if those people woke up from the noise of the walkers; there was nothing they could do to escape this place.
Seeing the dormitory already filled with walkers at that mont, it was ti to act. Several doors were shut in response.
The figures with the gasoline cans began pouring fuel across the floor before retreating. There was plenty of fuel here. If those barrels of gasoline were used too, the others would burn to death if they didn't co out. But the mont they tried to escape, they would be killed by the walkers waiting just outside.
The people in the prison watched it all calmly, while those in Washington were nervous. Jason's cruel thods shocked them. This was clearly the pace of soone who didn't plan on letting anyone escape.
Judging by the current situation, all that was needed was to light the gasoline in the end, and it would be nearly impossible for this group to survive. Moreover, the fire would continue attracting walkers from the surroundings to this very spot, and the flas would also provide light, giving those outside clear shots at anyone trying to flee.
Just as they were retreating toward the container, a cry ca from the room!
"Walkers!"
Jason wasted no ti. He removed the silencer from the barrel and fired two shots directly into the sky!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The people behind him lined up. All of them silently swore to protect one another and to fight alongside the man before them to rebuild humanity.
...
Adam was the butcher of the terminal. Tall, thin, and bald, he was a little over thirty years old, and his job was obvious. Today, he had processed a lot of "at" during the day and had been busy until night. Only after finishing did he drag his tired body into the room.
With him was another young man who was also a butcher. This one always acted alone. Not long ago, he had finally been given the chance to join in a hunt.
What a rookie!
Adam looked at the young man with disdain. He was sprawled on the bed when Adam entered. Struggling to take off his coat, Adam finally lay comfortably on the bed.
At last, he could rest.
The two lay there for more than ten minutes, but in the end, they couldn't resist their stomachs' protests. Reluctantly, they got up and walked toward the cafeteria.
The rules of the terminal were strict. During the day, it was basically work, work, and more work. Occasionally, there would be a hunt—those who ca here searching for road signs would be forced into a container with a weapon to be stored as food.
There was always a steady stream of fools who ca here, only to end up as als in their mouths. They also went out to collect supplies, but the main targets were fuel and dicine, and occasionally to restock so daily necessities.
As for nightti, aside from those on duty, no one else was allowed out. They had to return to bed after eating. But no one complained—after all, this was the end of the world, and having enough food was already a blessing.
The two butchers entered the cafeteria. Seeing so guys they were on good terms with eating and chatting there, Adam also felt a bit curious and went over with a plate.
"Hey, here cos the bald guy!"
Adam used to hate people calling him bald. He wasn't really bald—couldn't they see the hair on both sides? But after the apocalypse, he had started to like the nickna. If soone was making fun of you, it ant you were still alive, right?
Sitting down with a few others, Adam couldn't wait to grab a piece of at and bite into it before saying vaguely,
"What are you talking about? Seems like this ti things are different…"
"Hey, let tell you—since you two were stuck working all day, you don't even know what happened outside."
Curious, Adam put down the food in his hand, leaned forward, and asked, "What happened?"
Ignoring his eager look, several people around him exchanged smiles, then lowered their heads to eat.
This scene was all too familiar—these bastards just wanted to ss with him.
"All right, can I get ten bullets for the next hunt?"
The young man pretending to eat realized he had achieved his goal, so he no longer hid it. He started talking with great excitent about what had happened today. Adam forgot about eating for a while and placed the piece of at back onto his plate.
As Alex narrated, Adam gradually realized two things had happened at the base.
Today could be considered double joy. First, a group of people had arrived, among them a crazy woman who claid she was looking for a man nad Rick. She had been captured far too easily.
The status of that crazy woman in her team seed to be quite high, and the people with her were locked up without any resistance.
As he spoke, Alex's expression grew more amused, and he asked mysteriously,
"Do you know what happened next?"
Adam didn't know what had happened afterward; he had been exhausted all day.
"Could it be that those people caused trouble?"
"Haha, you'll never guess. Let tell you—another group of people ca in the afternoon. Do you know who their leader was?"
Seeing Evan's puzzled expression, Alex couldn't hold it back anymore.
"His damn na is Rick! Hahahaha!"
