Liu Ru helplessly reminded her, "This little thing is not even a problem for President Gu, it’s hardly a bother."
"Even so, it’s a matter of principle." Sheng Yi stubbornly insisted.
Liu Ru couldn’t do much with her. While chatting with Sheng Yi, she missed a call and went out to call the director back.
As soon as Liu Ru left the ward, Sheng Yi was left alone in the large hospital room. Her current issue had only a bit of buzz, not enough to trend. Yuanyuan probably wouldn’t notice, and even if she did, she’d just say it’s nothing.
Seven in the evening.
Sheng Yi woke up from a nap, noticing Liu Ru wasn’t there, only her assistant.
The assistant wasn’t there during the recording of the show, only arriving in the afternoon.
"Where’s Sister Ru?" Sheng Yi asked.
The assistant adjusted the bed’s position, raising it so Sheng Yi could lean back, saying, "Sister Liu Ru told to stay with you. She’s gone back to the company and asked to inform you when you wake up."
After saying this, she poured a glass of water for Sheng Yi, "Sister Yi, you must be thirsty, have so water."
Sheng Yi, still drowsy from her nap, yawned twice, even tearing up while yawning.
She lifted her hand to wipe the wet corners of her eyes, feeling more awake, and drank half the cup of water.
She handed the cup back to the assistant, saying, "I don’t have other things to handle here. Oh, right, please prepare dinner for , I’m a bit hungry. After I eat, you can go back. I’ll probably be in the hospital for the next few days, so you can take care of your own affairs. Thank you for your hard work."
The assistant, diligent and conscientious, had been by Sheng Yi’s side constantly, though recently having to take several days off due to family issues.
Sheng Yi, being a top-tier female artist, had many affairs to oversee, and certainly needed an assistant. However, finding a suitable replacent quickly was difficult, so she allowed the assistant to take leave, aning she didn’t have her during the outdoor variety show recording.
The assistant’s voice choked as she spoke, "Thank you, Sister Yi, for understanding."
"Oh, thank you, what for? You’ve been with for so long." Sheng Yi’s voice soft and gentle, not like soone hospital-bound—after all, it’s just a foot injury—said to the assistant full of energy, "Go arrange dinner quickly, I’m hungry."
The assistant nodded firmly, "Okay, I will..."
’Knock knock knock—’
At that mont, the door to the ward was knocked.
Soone had arrived.
Sitting up in bed, unable to move easily, Sheng Yi craned her neck to look that way.
The person entering was wearing a white business shirt and checkered pants, jacket nowhere to be seen, holding a takeaway dinner in hand.
In shiny black leather shoes, he stepped inside, approached the bedside, and Sheng Yi realized—it was so late, yet Dao An had co to the hospital to see her!!
Wait, how did Dao An know she was hospitalized?
Could it be that Yuanyuan found out and sent Dao An?
Feeling her question self-answered, Dao An standing bedside, perhaps having rushed over, his chest heaving slightly uneven, shirt collar unbuttoned, told Sheng Yi, "President Gu sent ."
Sheng Yi’s expression cleared with understanding, "I knew it had to be Yuanyuan. There’s nothing I can hide from her."
Seeing the takeout box in Dao An’s hand, she asked excitedly, "Did Yuanyuan prepare this for ?"
Dao An smiled in response, "Yes."
The assistant, still stunned, quickly reached to take it, but Dao An said, "I got it."
The assistant nodded, with Sheng Yi saying, "Go handle your things, Dao An is here with ."
The assistant nodded again, said, "Alright," and to Dao An, "Thank you, Mr. Dao An."
Dao An smiled, "No trouble, go ahead."
After the assistant left, she thoughtfully closed the door.
Actually, Sheng Yi was already quite hungry, looking at the dinner Dao An was unpacking, her mouth watered so much she swallowed several tis.
"Slls so good~" Sheng Yi was almost staring, "Dao An An, I’m starving, quick, pass a bit over."
Excitedly, she blurted out.
Even called him "Dao An An."
Realizing she shouldn’t call him that, she chuckled sheepishly, saying, "I feel like I could eat a whole cow."
Dao An didn’t mind at all, even liked her calling him that, though his face didn’t show it.
Just tilted the corners of his lips, indulgently without realizing it, "Unbelievable, the cow would cry hearing that."
A retractable table on the bed, Dao An placed all the food on it, serving Sheng Yi both rice and soup.
Seeing Sheng Yi gobbling down the food, Dao An frowned, "Eat slower, everything’s prepared for you, I’ve already eaten."
Sheng Yi’s cheeks puffed with food, she raised her head and mumbled to Dao An, "I’m just too hungry, it’s a normal reaction of extre hunger. Let fill my stomach first, then I’ll eat elegantly."
Dao An complied, "Alright."
The als prepared according to Sheng Yi’s tastes.
So she didn’t suspect a thing.
Seeing Sheng Yi eating with relish, content, Dao An’s mood naturally lifted too, worrying on the rush over eased considerably now.
Just that...
All Dao An’s attention rested on Sheng Yi’s injured foot, wanting to lift the covers but realizing it too abrupt, he asked, "What’s the situation with your foot injury?"
"Ah, don’t ntion it," Sheng Yi sipped so soup, "Got hurt during outdoor reality show recording."
Dao An cautiously asked, "Does it hurt?"
"It does." Sheng Yi frowned but relaxed the next second, "But it doesn’t hurt now, feeling so satisfied eating, all my favorite foods, doesn’t hurt anywhere on ."
Dao An teased her, "Little trickster."
"Not at all, I’m an adult," Sheng Yi corrected earnestly, "A big trickster."
Having said this, she burst into laughter herself.
Her hearty laughter likely tugged on the strained ligant, Sheng Yi let out a hiss, and Dao An lifted the covers, "Did it hurt?"
Once lifted, in front of Dao An was a white tender foot.
The toenails neatly trimd, unpainted, curling toes looked like a row of little pearls, especially cute.
Dao An suddenly paused.
Knowing he lifted the wrong side, her injured foot was the other one, even as Dao An seed calm, his ears turned red.
Sheng Yi didn’t notice Dao An’s reddened ears, not feeling self-conscious, curling her toes, the instinctive reaction when the covers pulled.
She even scratched her toes in front of Dao An, "Haha, it’s on the other side."
Dao An lightly cleared his throat, saying to Sheng Yi, "Sorry, Miss Sheng Yi."
"What’s there to apologize for, you just arrived and had no idea about my situation, really, it’s no problem." Sheng Yi laughed carefreely, not taking it seriously at all.
When Dao An put the covers back over her foot, she lifted the other side for Dao An to see, "Look, this foot, the doctor bandaged it, doesn’t it seem pitifully tragic..."
She spoke with a mockingly sorrowful air.
Expressions especially rich and vivid.
Dao An initially worried, yet her deanor made him laugh, easing the prior tension.
Her injured foot, wrapped from the ankle to the instep with a bandage, no blood or bone showing, but still needing proper healing from a ligant strain.
She wiggled her toes, quite flexible, just unable to exert the whole foot.
Dao An cautioned, "Hey, stop moving."
Sheng Yi laughed boldly, "It’s fine, I’m not that delicate, doesn’t hurt anyway."
Dao An, eyes fixed on her foot, said slowly, "Watching you... hurts."
