After putting down the bag, he turned around to leave.
At that mont, there was a slight rustle from the direction of the hospital bed, subtle but clear enough for Dao An to hear. He turned back and saw Sheng Yi pulling her uninjured foot out from under the blanket, pressing it on top.
She seed to be feeling a bit warm.
Still in a deep sleep, she might have been dreaming, smacking her lips a few tis as if tasting sothing delicious before continuing to be lost in her dreams.
This ti, Dao An brought two pairs of socks for Sheng Yi. Earlier, he noticed she wasn’t wearing any, and kept that in mind. After handling so matters outside the hospital, he personally bought two pairs of socks for her. Reluctant to disturb Sheng Yi’s rest, he placed the items on the bedside table.
However, now she had stretched her foot out from under the blanket.
Dao An had no choice but to turn back, take out one pair of socks from the bag. He had already removed the packaging on the way here. They were loose socks that wouldn’t tighten around her ankles and cause discomfort.
He slowly leaned over, holding the socks in one hand, carefully and gently slipping the socks onto Sheng Yi’s exposed foot, making sure his fingers didn’t touch the skin of her foot.
The entire process went rather smoothly.
After putting them on, Dao An cautiously lifted her leg, pulled the blanket over, covered her foot again.
Then, he put a sock on her other injured foot.
The socks were very loose, they didn’t affect the bandage on her foot. Even if they needed to be taken off, it would be easy, just a slight pull and they’d co off.
After all this, Dao An stood at the bedside, silently gathering his thoughts.
He worried that standing by the bed might frighten Sheng Yi if she woke up, so he left shortly afterward.
As he left, he turned off the floor lamp and gently closed the door to the ward behind him before leaving.

The next day.
Early in the morning, Liu Ru ca to the hospital with breakfast. Sheng Yi was still asleep when she arrived, sleeping soundly.
By the looks of it, she seed to be dreaming, possibly a pleasant one.
Though Liu Ru was just guessing, Sheng Yi indeed was dreaming. She had multiple dreams throughout the night, unexpectedly all pleasant, and one particularly unspeakable.
She dreamt that she finally couldn’t restrain her mischief, pestering Dao An.
Dao An refused to give in, steadfastly resisting, trying to preserve his dignity.
But in the dream, Sheng Yi’s realm was dominant, she had complete control, and Dao An succumbed to her overbearing power, ultimately yielding to her.
In that dream, Sheng Yi did everything to Dao An that she wouldn’t dare to do in reality, vehently tornting him.
Then... the wonderful dream was interrupted by the ring of an incoming call.
Sheng Yi awoke from her dream.
She heard Liu Ru’s voice answering the phone next to her. She opened her eyes, looked at the ceiling, glanced around, then slowly closed her eyes, silently chanting: Calm and composed, free from desire, unshaken...
She covered her face with the blanket.
What kind of nonsense was all this!!!
In her dream, she let herself go, taking liberties with the virtuous Dao An!!!
Facing Dao An from now on, she’d never be able to look him in the eye.
Alright, she admitted, she was way out of line.
"You’re awake, it seems you slept quite well last night. I was worried you might not have slept well without anyone with you." Having finished the call, Liu Ru ca over, put her phone aside, and pulled a chair up by the bed.
Seeing Sheng Yi still covered by the blanket and not moving, Liu Ru wondered what was going on. She got up and pulled the blanket aside: "Why are you burying yourself under the covers?"
Upon seeing Sheng Yi’s flushed face under the blanket, Liu Ru frowned: "Why are you so hot?"
Sheng Yi imdiately retorted: "I’m not, I didn’t."
Liu Ru: ???
Initially nothing, Sheng Yi’s rebuttal seed more like a failed cover-up. Liu Ru grinned aningfully, and Sheng Yi’s face grew even warr, she fanned herself.
Liu Ru didn’t bother to pry into her thoughts, pointing to the breakfast: "You said last night you wanted stead dumplings for breakfast, I got up early to queue for them. You want to eat them while they’re hot?"
"Of course, it’s best when it’s hot." Sheng Yi pointed to the end of the bed: "Sister Ru, please adjust the bed angle for , so I can sit up."
After Liu Ru adjusted it, she placed the packed stead dumplings on the folding table, then was about to put the table on the bed and said: "It might still be a bit hot, eat slowly. Anyway, you’re resting now, no need to rush."
"Wait till you bring it over, I’ll go to the restroom and then co back to eat." Sheng Yi lifted the blanket, preparing to get off the bed.
