Mocking him for not recognizing his own biological daughter.

No wonder Quan Jin said such things before; before he t this little girl, he did not accept the fact that he was married. The idea of marrying young was sothing he once pitied his third uncle for, and now it had befallen him.

However, after seeing this little girl, he didn’t find that she looked like him, but rather felt that unbreakable bond of kinship between them.

Yu Rujin bent down and whispered in Quan Jin’s ear, "You’ve been staying in the north wing all afternoon since you returned. I sent people to find you several tis, but you brushed them off. During the family dinner, you should take dinner to Yuanyuan."

Grandma shouldn’t have brought it up.

Once she did, Quan Jin rembered that his daughter was here, so why wasn’t her mother present?

Apparently, she didn’t co to the family gathering.

"Why didn’t she co to the family dinner? You even want to take dinner to her!" Does she not know how to walk?

He almost said this, but it wasn’t the right occasion. Quan Jin held back, as the aunts gossip a lot. It wouldn’t be good for things to be said publicly; after the divorce, he could say whatever he liked.

Yu Rujin couldn’t say, "It’s because of you that Yuanyuan couldn’t co," so instead she said, "She’s not feeling well."

Quan Jin couldn’t refuse, so he reluctantly agreed, "Okay."

There were still a few minutes before the family dinner started. Everyone had already taken their seats, with Suisui sitting on Quan Jin’s right.

Little Suisui was unwilling to pay attention to Quan Jin, entertaining herself by occasionally grabbing the napkin or chopsticks in front of her, feeling quite bored, until she anxiously noticed more and more strangers around the table.

Her chubby face was furrowed with apprehension as she eyed each person warily, beginning to inch closer to Quan Jin for safety, eventually crawling onto his lap and snuggling into his arms.

Quan Jin was chatting with several uncles and only occasionally glanced at the little girl. Before he realized it, she had moved from her seat to his lap and was timidly clinging to him, her little face buried against him.

Quan Jin stiffened all over, not accustod to such dependent closeness from the little girl. Just as he was about to speak, his mother, Mu Lan, ca over and reached out to Suisui. "Little Suisui, why don’t you co to Grandma and sit with ?"

Such a beautiful and youthful Mu Lan, yet she was already of grandmotherly status...

Unfortunately, Suisui paid no attention to anyone else, keeping her face buried in Quan Jin’s arms and shaking her head, saying, "No, no~"

Mu Lan looked at Quan Jin. "You, as her father, should comfort her. There are so many people at this family gathering, and it’s Suisui’s first ti here, so it’s understandable she’d be nervous."

Since Fu brought little Suisui in, Mu Lan’s attention had been on her, constantly observing her every move.

Children can’t hide what they like; even without words, their preferences are expressed through their rich facial expressions. Mu Lan noticed which dishes Suisui glanced at more frequently, planning to serve those to her later.

Then, she observed the scene of Suisui gradually moving into Quan Jin’s embrace.

It lted her heart.

That was her little granddaughter, the Quan family’s only great-granddaughter.

Upon learning that this mother and daughter had co back to the old house with Old Madam Quan, she imdiately put aside her work and hurried over.

But she didn’t get to see them; in the afternoon, little Suisui and her mother, Miss Gu, stayed in the west wing, where Old Madam Quan didn’t allow others to visit, including Mu Lan. Tonight’s family dinner was their first eting.

In fact, Mu Lan was eager to et this rumored daughter-in-law of hers. She called it a rumor because her son had kept the wedding low-key, though willing, and it was said that they were very much in love.

She had only t that daughter-in-law once, and that was a long ti ago.

Mu Lan had always granted her son freedom, sending him abroad to mature and beco independent at a young age. Her open-mindedness was often praised by Old Madam Quan.

Because of this hands-off approach, her relationship with her son was so-so, and Mu Lan also knew that having not involved herself before, it wasn’t her place to ddle now—that was the next generation’s business.

Seeing her son’s indifference towards his own flesh and blood, Mu Lan beca thoughtful, wanting to bring Suisui to sit with her. But Suisui, being scared, was unwilling.
